Wow, I use to fish that same spot in the 70s just about every weekend. It was called the coliseum Rocks. I noticed the decay of slab. The specks get 25+ in that spot along with blackdrum too.

You can weed out a lot of those 15 inchers with a chartreuse and gold top water. Plus you can get it closer to the rocks where they pin mullet up against.
Topwater is my favorite to throw for trout! This day they were hanging close to the bottom, 1/4oz jig head was perfect

i forgot what the brand is, but there’s a ruler, and it’s a long strip of sticker that you put on the fishing rod itself. And so you can do a quick measure right then and there no extra measuring stick needed to carry with you. I think the brand may even simply be: “rod rulerz” 😂 but spelled silly, with the zed at the end. Anyway, I got mine at fishing tackle unlimited in Houston. Betcha they have them at that famous shop near you. Roy’s Tackle I think it is? Can’t remember but it’s a great thing to have stuck onto the rod. Only, don’t stretch when applying the sticker, or your 15 inch trout will measure 14🫡

i’m in Freeport and I actually bought a literal mosquito net suit I got so tired of going through bottles of Off. haha. So, there’s an idea. Trade off is: it’ll be a bit sweatier for you. But yah mine is like, basically a set of pants and then a hoodie shirt. All constructed from the moquito net material that they can’t bite through. It looks very silly!😅 So I just choose to wear mine underneath my regular clothes. And the hoodie shirt has a veil on the hoodie part that comes down over your face. I am radical man, haha, I wear the suit AND I still spray myself down with the Off spray. Anyways, just an idea for you maybe. And tight lines!

I just recently went there with my wife, and her brothers. They all hit their limit while I only had 3 keeprs, but I got a flounder, and got to fight with a bull red 🤣
& they said whiteboys dont know how to fish
