It still pains me to have discovered Christopher Hitchens after he passed. If he ever had come to Europe for a reading or debate I would have gone out of my way to be present.
The weird thing is, that everything he says, I already grew up with. I'm 61 and both of my parents were atheists; my dad mostly like Christopher himself: born a roman catholic, and around the age of 10 realized that it couldn't be true. My mom came from an atheist family herself and had a pic of Bertrand Russell on her desk. That was HER hero.
So I was born and raised an atheist myself. I have experienced first hand how you become like the family you're born in, depending on how fanatic your parents were/are. I'm thankful, that my dad let me watch Jesus Christ Superstar at 11 (one of the greatest pieces of modern music ever written, in my opinion. I still listen to it) and took me to mass with Christmas when I wanted to know more about religion. After three times I got very bored, so we stopped going.😂
I believe Christopher and my father would have gotten along very well. And now they're both gone and I don't even know if my dad knew who Hitchens was...he owned Dawkins' "the Delusion of god". Of course.
One thing I'm sure of: they haven't met in heaven. It's a nice thought, I know. But nope.

So, how are we to separate the liars who claim they saw a god, not surprisingly to suit their own ends, from a person who sincerely believes they saw god? So far no one has been able to offer a reliable method to filter the two. Finally, if such a winnowing COULD occur, how do we determine that the sincere person wasn't themself deluded or tricked? Again, no such filter is forthcoming.

After being brought up as an atheist and having great debates with my father about filosofy and religion and discovering Christopher Hitchens (my dad had of course "the god delusion" by Dawkins.), I came to some conclusions about religion. I think there are more than one reason for people to believe in a deity.
      a) Fear. The idea of a celestial powerful being that looks out for us, seems to be soothing to people. It's like a strange addiction. b) close to a) is "maladaptive daydreaming" and wishful thinking. I can still hear my father, when he cried over my mom's death, calling out:"I WISH I could believe! That I will see her again, one day! I WISH!" Which was one of my personal experiences, that proved to me that when you believe you believe, and if you don't you just....don't. c) there's a large group of "religious" people that take it for granted. They were born religious, brought up religious, never gave it much thought and went with the flow. No debating. No thinking. I DO believe this "flock" is the largest group. d) there's a LOT of misunderstanding about atheism. A friend of my bf at the time thought atheists were people that worship the devil.
      e) there must be something in our evolutionary developement, that makes mankind crave for some way to deal with all the hardships and tribulations that life is, in the end. We are mentally not very well equipped to deal with disappointments, bad breaks, death, loss, sadness, pain and all that negative stuff. It's unpleasant. And we're obviously (still) wired to search for a state, in which we DO feel pleasant.
Overall: in prehistoric times, people didn't know how things worked. Couldn't explain it. Having that prefrontal lobe though, by the time of "homo erectus", we looked to make sense of it all- we're wired like that: curious, wanting to make sense of things. In such a way, that what could not be explained at that time, was replaced by a god or more gods. Until further notice. Leaders discovered that was a great way to keep large groups of people under control. Tell them it's gods will.
Generation after generation passed these ideas and rituals on. In Europe the Enlightment (17th century) came about. God was finally quiestioned, science made leaps forward. This goes parallel to the first, very carefull steps towards the idea that we might not need a god. Maybe, we could explain and work out some stuff ourselves. The men in power went against it with all their might and still are. The idea, that morality came from god is most ridiculous, when you know anything about how primates treat each other and form a society. This taught us how empathy developed: we're a social species. We can't do without others. We need each other to accomplish bigger things. We need a mate, we need social structures and the bigger small settlements became, the more structure was needed. Because, just like with primates, when we live too close to each other, we get unpleasant and aggresive.
I do also believe/think, that the discrepancy between the prehistoric parts of the brain and the prefrontal cortex is too big.(nobody ever said, that evolution was perfect. Or was ment to be perfect. It's more like a chain of certain events, good or bad.) In other words: we suffer from that crocodile-part of our brain that whispers: "fight! Big animal is coming towards you! Gimme that testosteron!Impregnate every woman! Pass on that unique DNA! Spread it as widely as you can!" vs: "we need to think, be reasonable, be kind to each other, take responsability for our actions, treat each other well. How do we know how to work that?? Hm, this is difficult. We need order and rules."
This gap is not going away anytime soon.
We are wired to evolve and we will. Even when we evolve ourselves straight into extinction.
We are more than halfway there already.
And I can well understand, coming to that ultimate conclusion, that most people WANT to think wishfully.

Judging should not be possible by an intelligence that knows everything who supposedly created everything to a perfect plan,
The sequence of events to everything should be known and if it isn't that intellect in fact does not know everything, anyway it
asserts perfection "And god "saw" everything is good" It does not see but rather "saw" anyway it's asserted it's perfect plan is
God like, therefore the only reason to judge is if there is an anomaly that defies what it knows to be the perfect plan.
so as sequences of events occur, it all must have been prejudged way before asserted creation "PLAN" as to all be good, so
my question is, Why judge something that has gone perfectly to plan?
I mean what's the point of judging if everything is already known about everything even eons before an entire sequence of events
pans out by ALL generations past, current and future and all of them way before they all came to exist? does it know everything
    or not?

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. If there were such evidence, not only would all people on earth be staunchly religious, they'd also very probably adhere to basically the same religion. The mere fact that historically there's been like 100,000 different deities, religions, denominations, and cults, as well as (in every stage of modern mankind) considerable numbers of people who weren't able to believe in anything supernatural at all, shows that the "evidence" is insufficient, to put it very mildly.

The sheer act of subsequently attempting to define or identify it, instantly nullifies the former categorization of it being unidentifiable.

And of course, the "knowing for a fact" part requires solid proof, otherwise one just ends up being a person, who cannot tell the difference between knowing and believing. Semantics maybe? - But if we didn't need to distinguish we wouldn't have both words.

6:08 - The guy in this section has a PhD in _Mathematics,_ which in no way qualifies him to speak authoritatively about Science _or_ Religion! He says Joseph was _not_ pre-scientific, despite the fact that the story to which he refers is set 1600 years before the codification of Scientific Method...in a book that never once references _anything_ outside a tiny region of the Middle East _and_ which gets nearly every testable description of the natural world _wrong!_ Joseph's world had _wonders,_ but widespread _scientific literacy_ wasn't among them.

I am both a former Christian and a former Muslim. I am now an ardent atheist and skeptic. I say this because I think Hitchens' words on Islam are a little misguided and shaped by the time in which he was saying them. He and the other "Four Horsemen" tend to go in hard on Islam mostly because of positions that are held by those that even the majority of Muslims would call extremists.
Christianity and Judaism are just as misogynistic (honestly, I would say Judaism much more so people want to point towards burkhas but those are a cultural creation that existed before Islam), open to violence, just as bad at sexualizing children, just as devoid of logical thinking, and just as filled with atrocities.
And, I would say Islam is no more focused on forcing one to be tolerated than its two predecessors.

LOGIC requires postulates and premises. Religious teachings provide postulates and premises.
The Qur'an offers the postulate of numbers. The postulate of the numbers 0 and ∞ in the number system would be very difficult to be born in human thought without revelation. For more than 10 thousand years, humans have only known what can be received by the five senses. The five senses in question are touch, smell, hearing, taste, and sight which then developed the premise of reincarnation.

    Revelation of numbers through the Qur'an "0" . QS Al Baqarah [2]:117 "∞". (QS. Al-Hajj ayat 62) "1", (QS. Al Ikhlas[112] ayat 1)
