Loved it. The song is a classic!. Loved all the dancing. Glad I was in that era. Wish it was still here. Everyone dressed up and acting civil and not like animals, starting fights etc.... goodbye good old days. .😒😪😥
A little before my time, but i love this and remember watching when I was very young. A couple of years ago i got my granddaughter to shut up with this and I sang along with it. She wanted to see it every time I was with her.
The Philadelphia Royalty Teens were Justine, Carole , Pat, Frani, Arlene, Kenny, Bob, Jiminez sisters most of the other teens got time but those were the stars! Always wanted to look for them as a kid! What memories!!
Same I was so young I loved the popular dances, my ballet teacher got a kick out of me and my BS loyalty...grew up went to college and I have been a dance teacher all my life and still kicking...but BS in Philly was the best, so sad when they moved my dream to dance on BS went...😏💃🕺
1:08 ...kids, that's Vertical Roll! If your TV set was getting a weak tube, or if reception was bad, sometimes the screen would roll continuously. All of the idiosyncrasies of analog TV are just a memory now.

That's when you could dance with a woman could dance with another woman and not be labeled a lesbian . Good days ! No one thought anything about it ! THEN
Years ago I saw a clip with some of the kids who are now living in Las Vegas and they said Carole Scaldeferri married some guy from Connecticut who watched her on tv and fell in love with her. Any one else know that story?
Sugar, starch, and fast foods are so prevalent in our American diet today. Also I wonder if overweight people were screened out by the producer/director. Be interested to here from some of the dancers that auditioned
at :14 in... tall Norman is in front and looks like he is stopped and sent to the back with partner...what is that about??....I remember he used to be upfront all the time??? I used to love to see him sway when he danced. 😢
In the late 50s it was bomb shelters then later civil rights marches and then Vietnam and the killing of jfk...and then Vietnam...life never was simple.
12/18/57 WFIL TV 46th and Market, Phila, 5, Pa. In the complete film, Clark references a "recent hospital" stay by Helms at the conclusion of this song.
2KRW I wish I knew too. He looks like one of the cute Italian boys that Carole Scaldeferri also sometimes danced with and she told me their names. I am going to go back and look at some stills where she named 2 guys and see if I can figure out which one he is.
Girls from West Catholic High School didn't make any effort to conceal their smart uniforms. The nuns were totally defied. Beautiful regulars Carole Scaldeferri and Arlene DiPietro made those signature Peter Pan blouse collars and navy blue jumpers famous. Catholic school students took pride in their uniforms back in the day. Especially those of us who wore designer styles to exclusive prep schools. Unlike today's cheap, sloppy uniforms, they were spit-and-polish badges of brains and honor.
I agree with you Paula 100%. I went to an all boys Catholic high school in a suburb of New York City. I had to wear jacket and tie to school every day. I was taught by priests and Christian Brothers. When I was 16 and 17 I didn't like being in an all boys school. I wanted to learn how to be around girls. But my parents knew what they were doing because now I see that my high school education, along with my military training in the U.S. Army, shaped my set of principles that I have lived by up to this very day.
What a wonderful time in America !

Wow, can't believe how long the hemlines were in '57, little did they know what they'd be wearing in 10 short years.

why was there no evidence of obesity in our youth in the 50's?
this is a fair question..yes why??? I don't think there was Fast Foods in 1958...could this be the reason....
@@jamescowley1710 Mcdonalds was certainly around then.

Yes there were fat people back then
People were real honest back then, guess you were criticized a lot if u weren’t skinny
Just now saw Dick Clark pass on side of Pat Molieterri at the beginning and she looks as if she says HI to him!
What happened to the video of this entire show???! It was on You Tube last year at this time!

When you could understand the words to the songs. Makes it easier to sing to.
Who is the boy that has a paper sticking out of his pocket.
He looks sweet.
That's Harvey Robbins. The paper in the pocket was his signature.
The female body in motion is proof enough of God for me.
55 to 1960 !!!
Listen...when was life simpler?
In the late 50s it was bomb shelters then later civil rights marches and then Vietnam and the killing of jfk...and then Vietnam...life never was simple.
Ahhh, Arlene Sullivan my favorite then and now. The show seemed to choose a lot of attractive kids, both the boys and girls.
