I’m constantly terrified that everyone hates me, even with my closest friends. I heard this song for the first time today. Not paying attention to any lyrics to the songs before. But I heard “of course your friends love you, what are you talking about?” And I swear time stopped. I instantly started crying... this song gave me some kind of hope for myself ❤️❤️
I feel like you should work through those feelings with a professional, I had the same kind of anxiety and still do. What made the difference was their help. I wish you a lot of luck, and a lot of love!

Just know that there is absolutely no shame in seeking help, it doesn't make you in any way "weak" or anything like that, just like having a broken leg and going to the doctor with it doesn't. And also, things don't have to be like super serious for a person to go talk to a professional. Just so you know that it's okay... But obviously it's up to what you feel comfortable with.

Ok so I was in a shop, minding my own business, my younger siblings trying on shoes. Then a substitute teacher who worked for my old school (who caused me to develop the anxiety in the first place and has made me not trust teachers at all) walked near me and gave me a dirty look. I panicked, and remembered some bad memories, so I went to my mum and told her. She told me I was probably overreacting because the sub teachers scared me and brought back bad memories. THEN THIS BITCH GOES TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE AISLE AND DOES IT AGAIN WITH A DISGUSTED SIGH! My mum kinda looked at her like she was crazy because she had no reason to do that???? And I started having a big anxiety attack and obviously, couldn't do that in public, I was going to embarrass the hell out of myself, this was just making the attack worse. But I started listening to this song, and while it didn't stop the attack completely, it helped so so so much. My mum was beating herself up after saying she should've said something to that absolute cow, but it probably would have made the anxiety even worse.
Sorry just had to get that out of my system. I have Cavetown to thank for making music because it helps me in so many different ways.

I was video chatting with my best friend and “accidentally” stuck up the middle finger at her. Unfortunately her mum saw somehow.shes polish so is her mum. Her mum then took the headphones off her and started talking to me. Usually I wouldn’t mind but her accent scared me.i had a polish step mum once and she was cruel. I freaked and hung up.i think I got my best and only friend in trouble. I was on the verge of tears and automatically came to this video. This calmed me down from an anxiety attack.thnak you so much cavetown.you have no idea how much your music helps people.

I’m one of those people who bottles up emotions, seems pretty cold at first glance, and very rarely cries. Within this year and all of last year, I only cried three times. Two of the times having to do with suicidal friends (nobody died, don’t worry), and once because my dog was missing for days and I thought she was dead (she turned out to be stuck in a trap wire for coyotes, and she survived). This song made me cry. It made me *sob* . Specifically the line “You’re not a monster, and no one’s gonna shut you out”. I tend to think that someday everyone in my life is just going to hate me and want nothing to do with me.. but this line just made me feel wanted, cared for, loved...
I just really needed to hear this and see the lyrics... so thank you ❤️

I have struggled with social anxiety for YEARS, and for those people who don’t know, social anxiety is when you hate yourself, and think that everyone else hates you too!

This song really gets to me bc I don't hear these things often and I believe that I am a monster or that everyone hates me, and most of the time I can't cry, it's like my body doesn't let me. I was in the middle of folding laundry when I heard that, and I just… felt something. It almost brought me to tears. I would have, but mum was in the room, and I didn’t want to cry and explain to her. I only have a few close friends (I can count them with my hands). It was a time where i didn’t get any messages from said friends. So that day, Pushing past my anxiety, I sent a message, but I got no reply. So, I numbed my emotions to avoid feeling sad, I went on my day.
So hearing this, on that day… it just made me feel a wave of emotions. Relief being the strongest. I just needed to hear it. I wanted to hear someone say this. But I got no one currently to tell me what I need. Eventually when I got alone time, I listened to this again and just let myself cry.

To anyone reading this I highly recommend art! Anytime i get anxious or scared, I like to splat the colours of my emotions on a canvas or scribble down my fears in a notebook. Once your feeling have physical form in the shape of art, it makes it much easier to understand your emotions. Or at least thats how it worked for me!

this summer has been the worst summer ever for me. my mental health has never been more screwed. i will literally sleep for the whole day because i’m so mental exhausted and out of energy. i have cried everyday and it’s gotten so bad to the point i’ve wanted to end my life multiple times or ask to go on meds. this song and “i promise i’m trying” have been one of the reasons i’m still here. i can cry to this and ill be okay. i’m so happy i got to be alive the same time cavetown is making music.
