This is such an underrated song

when i got raped at 14, i used to listen to this and so much music related to it. I turn 21 years old tomorrow, and I just recently just lost my first boyfriend of 3 years. Im living on my own for the first time, going through more than I thought I'd ever have to. At 14, I didn't think life could get harder than what I was already going through. If I could go back and hug that girl, I would, so so tight. She should've never hated herself, especially after what's coming.

My family always said "do or do not the is no try" or "yes, you're very trying" when I'd say I'm trying my best and it always ticked me off. What if you do your absolute damnedest and work until you drop and then keep working before you're even able to get back up, but morning ever happens and it's still the same shitty place you used to be in no matter how hard you work and try and you still don't end up doing it and there's no credit or value in how hard you work and it doesn't matter how much you've killed yourself trying to get there, if there is no try then there's just win or lose. Pass or fail. Sink or swim. It's just so disheartening to work so much and so hard and so long just to be told you're still a failure.

For some reason, I can't bring myself to love the revamped version of Trying. This is just so much calmer, and you feel that, the 'persona' singing this is trying to calm the listener down and tell them everything is okay, and you feel so much happier when listening. It's like that one stranger who gives you a long needed hug in.. so many months. edit: if you're feeling down, you can vent down here in my comment. I'll get to you as soon as i get the notif that someone commented. meanwhile, get a comfort food, sit yourself down, and maybe, just maybe, listen to this on repeat. I'm feeling slightly down but listening to this while eating a subway cookie is making me feel better, but this varies from different individuals.

This song came to me at a great time. I just had to leave my main friend group as my ex had begun to spread rumors about me through them, and I couldn't stay knowing that. I never expected them to do that, they were someone I still trusted, and honestly, still loved. Now I'm down over half my friends, but that's fine, I still have the close ones. But man it's gonna take it a while to find new ones
