  • Old semi trucks from the 60s. History of Skoda 706 and KAZ 608 Kolhida. Popular semi trucks in USSR.
The production of the Skoda 706 R truck was launched in the early fifties. The car received a diesel engine with six cylinders, from the features we can distinguish the pre-chamber mixture formation.
With a volume of 11.8 cubic centimeters, the engine gave out 135 horsepower and 1,750 rpm. In real conditions, the truck accelerated to 40 kilometers per hour, although the claimed speed was 53.5 kilometers per hour. Now it is hard to believe that such a compact machine could consume 30 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers.
The Kap-608 Kolkhida hoodless truck stood on the conveyor of a plant in Kutaisi in 1967.
The two-axle truck KAZ-608 was equipped with a V-shaped eight-cylinder petrol engine ZIL-130Я5 with a volume of six liters and 150 horsepower. The ZIL borrowed both the gearbox and the axles of the vehicle. The truck was designed to tow a semi-trailer with a full weight of up to 15.5 tons, but only in flat terrain and on well-paved roads.
In 1976, the production of the upgraded KAZ-608V truck, which received a new cab with flat body panels, started. In this form, the model was produced before 1989.
