At kapag umuuwi feeling rich outing dito outing dun. Me I am just a plain housewife and may small buisness lang ang husband ko, pero hindi kami hirap dahil hindi kami maluho, being frugal teach me a lot kaya kahit nasa global inflation tayo ngayon hindi namin ramdam dahil wala kaming problema pagdating sa budget. "Leave within your means" and save for your future and lagi ka dapat may emergency fund.

I don''t agree with investing a vacation home in the Philippines when you are old and unable to fully enjoy it. Why would you build a house in the Philippines when you should spend your money in traveling so you can enjoy to see different parts of the world? Why would you invest in a house when you only have a few years left to live? The house will be left with your relatives who did not. contribute a penny towards it, when you pass on. All countries are being hit by inflation, not only in Canada. I think it depends on your lifestyle. Why will you spend more than you earn ? People are leaving because it’s their personal choice. I guess if it’s not working for you and you’re not happy, then by all means you leave. I migrated in England as a nurse since 2001 and by the grace of the Lord, I’m still here. Better to retire in a developed country. As you aged, you need the best medical treatment to live a long life plus it's not as expensive as Pinas. In US, you pay $174 a month for Seniors. While food & rent is cheap in Pinas except stateside products & electricity, healthcare is very expensive. For a 70 yr old, you'll pay around $300 per person a month & 80 yr old will pay over $600 per person monthly with limited coverage. Double the cost if you're married & you'll pay for all your medication. You can self insure if you have at least have $100K in the bank for major surgery or if you're confined in ICU for weeks. My father in law was in ICU for 3 weeks & total bill was $70K. Dollars not Pesos.

What you said are all true.
The best way to save is stop sending money to relatives in the Philippines. Almost all pinoys complained about spending money for relatives back home.
I myself fell in this siruation. Relatives would think you are their bank. When someone got sick they would choose private hospital instead of pubic hospital and expect you to pay for it.
In short these relatives are taking advantage of you. Even though they are not your responsibility. Wake up everyone do not fall for these kind of situations.

Nandito ako sa Toronto over 50 years, same with my brother but sana maka stay for good na sa Pinas. visit Canada once a year or two to see my kids and their family. Problema, Canadian rules ay very strict unlike US. We have to come back within 6 months or we lose our Health care benefits, if we are not back in a year, we lose our pension. Hopefully it could change para I can enjoy longer stay sa Pilippines. Yes, sobrang mahal dito. At least sa Pinas merong mga carinderia. Dito combo meal sa Phil restaurant, turoturo, 2 ulam and rice, with tax almost 15 dollars. Luckily, I bought my house 1978, sold bought this house I live in in 1985. No savings but the house is worth at least 9 X what I paid for. The only money I have is my equity. Feel sorry for the young adults, way majority won't be able to buy a house , everything over a millon, Condos mostly 700, 000 and up also over a millon in some areas.

What you said is true, however they should have to think other disadvantages too if you stay in Philippines for good.
Basta ako my motivation is the benefits and healthcare in Canada. Sanay ako sa hirap dito but I will not live my life regretting the opportunities I didnt take. Most of my family are in Canada already and I am just waiting for my turn. Hopefully I will learn a lot of lessons once I go there.. lessons of perseverance and also make my life a little bit better. Dito kasi sa Pilipinas masyado tayong exploited. Mahirap mahalin ang sariling bansa lalo na't it doesnt give us what we deserve in terms of wages, government and the tax we pay goes down the pockets of corrupt officials.

Same reasons sir. My experience in public health care sa Pinas grabe naawa ako sa Family members ko pero mas naaawa ako sa ibang psyente nakakaawa ang sitwasyon. My wife gives birth last January 2023.

So in life comes trials and tribulations, sacrifices and patience. But with perseverance and determination life in Canada is way better than in the Philippines by a mile, maybe even more.
Free healthcare if you’re a citizen, more opportunities, one can also get pension through the government.
What more can you ask for? All you need is to be resourceful. If you go to the city that is expensive then you’ll struggle for sure. But in time you develop the necessary skills to progress. If you need food, there’s plenty of food bank and you need assistance you can go ask for government assistance program. These things are not easily available in the Philippines. Yes it’s lively and fun, but at the end of the day these things will pass and you’ll got stuck in the same rut in the Philippines. Traffic, pollution, over populated, no water, high crime rate and major corruption. You can your options before deciding to go back home.

Someone made a comment saying that “cost of living in Canada is expensive” and pension is not enough…
I don’t think that this is factual. He’s basing its comments on his own experience.
Like the main cities in the east coast and west coast like Toronto and Vancouver the cost of living is really high. But there’s still cities out in the east like Halifax, Fredericton and St. John’s NFLD that are more affordable.
You also have Fort Mac or Fort McMurry, which is North of Edmonton in Alberta. This is where the oil sands is located. There, you’ll make tons of money, but winter is really harsh like -40 to -50.
Moral of my story, don’t believe what everyone is telling you here in this thread.

Number 1 ang Vancouver or Vienna sa most livable city in the world and based on my experiences sa napakaraming cities around the world, it’s true. Pero in Canada mostly may sariling auto mga pinoy at tao, it’s also very convenient, kasi abundant ang parking lots. So ewan ko kung ano mas okay Vancouver or Vienna. The Canada of today is not the same country 10, 20, or 30 years ago. You will struggle. And if you have a title in the Philippinesl ie doctor, teacher, etc.. I suggest you stay there because they are USELESS here. You will have to almost start over and that is difficult because it means you need lots of money. You will end up working here as a cleaner, or labourer or at some fast food. This is REAL talk and not bullshit. Prices here are unbelievable bullshit. Even groceries they bleed you dry. Gas is insane. Rent is out of this world. The struggle is real for newbies.

In short, hindi preferable ang Canada for most Filipino migrants na konti lng ang savings to begin with at wlang well-paying job. In general, kung maliit ang sweldo at marami kang sinusuport at ibng expenses, what do you expect, syempre mabigat yan n financial problem. Kung snowy jan or malamig ang weather, what do you expect, syempre giginawin ka.

Lage natin isipin na ang goal natin is to have a better life.

You did not mention the high unemployment rate here especially here in Alberta, the sad reality is, there is really not enough jobs here and the quality of jobs are not too good. Salary here is also not too good! Most of the problems you mentioned why people leave is the same problems you have in any other place/country, and any place you go, it is given that you will have to “go back to zero”. Homesickness and the cold, you hit that right but you should have mentioned that it is really boring here! There are not much options for entertainment and recreation here and you can’t even see people outside!!! Any activity you do, you will be mostly be alone if you don’t have family here.

I agree...but as I have told in my other vlog/s that I can't talk the entire idea/issue/suggestions in one video...I have to make video at a time....of course there are more reasons why..it depends on how people will look at it....so far my family and I are enjoying trips, walks, family and friends, church, and others...boredom strikes when you are not making yourself busy...I would suggest extend your network of friends and family...it may help you.

Thats one thing I noticed about Canada. The ‘exciting’ things and great jobs are concentrated only around the main cities. You go deeper into small towns and there are only mom and pop boutique stores, farmlands, beautiful but wild nature..with a smattering of small motels or two. You see big box retail outlets like Home Depot or Walmart pero nothing much else to see. So yes, boring and buhay if u live in small towns kasi unless ur a true homebody or nature lover, wala kang mapapasyalan. Sa Pinas, there are always a great bustle kahit saan ka tumira. Its all a matter of perspective and choosing the place you feel most comfortable and happy with. For Canadians, kahit in the dead of winter, busy sila with outdoor activities : ice fishing, tobogganing, skiing, bob sledding, etc etc. In the summers, they go to their cottages, go kayaking and canoeing, have bbq backyard parties, etc. Tayong laking tropical climate, di masyadong makarelate coz few of us are brave enough to do those and learn doing those. Its all a mindset. Am sure the Canadians wd fee bored transplanted in the Philippines na ang main past time ay going to malls, eating out, beaches (they do have beaches here too) and movie watching.

Thanks for the reply. I am plainly stating the obvious reality that it is boring here in general. I am very active physically and socially as an avid hiker, backpacker, mountain Biker, photographer and had done more than a lot of trips around the Rockies of Alberta and BC. I must also say that i have a very good network of friends and family and do not need any "help". But you are right, it all depends on ones perspective. @@rhodschannel611

Curious ako with what you said about high unemployment rate, I have cousins in Calgary who’s very keen on encouraging me to move there because of many work opportunities, so I wonder about what you said. And I have met a looot of pinoys in Ontario as well particularly in Leamington who doesn’t have families here with them but gets to enjoy life with friends, halos weekend nagvivideoke, birthday parties here and there. Nakikisama. Malungkot talaga if you don’t make an effort to go out meet people. There should be work-life balance.

      @indaygarit2221 ปีที่แล้ว

@@TheMaiah13 i agree. Daming ganap ng mga canadians even in the winter season. They find joy in winter activities. Its the advantage siguro of having 4 seasons in a year, you get to miss doing summer activities if winter and so on. Most pinoys are used to one season and tends to get bored. And so if a pinoy is new here and tamad mag activities nasa bahay lang pero sanay sa gala before ma bore talaga. As an immigrant in Canada pinoys should adapt to the country hindi yung canada yung magaadapt sa pinoy.
