  • This custom diecast diorama is over 3 years in the making! Some of the hardest lessons to learn about building models and miniatures is that sometimes life gets in the way. The good news is, it's never too late to pick back up and keep moving forward in just about anything. This is one of my favorite builds yet. It uses:
AK Interactive's rust paint assortment: ak-interactive...
    Liquidtex modeling paste: www.michaels.c...
Green Stuff World's Miniature Leaf Punch: www.greenstuff...
Vehicle used: 1922 Plymouth by Matchbox

You know, if you spend 3 years on a project, it ought to come out looking that good! LOL. Brilliant work, Chuck! 🍁☕️👍

Haha! More like about a week on it, but spread over three years. Amazing how things get pushed on the back burner and stay there. Thanks, Andrew!

Oooh. That’s awesome! I’m thinking of building a scrapyard, but I’m gonna need to make a lot of junkers before I can even start building the yard

not for sale story: my grandfather passed away and was a hoarder and mechanic. He had 3 sunbeam rapiers in his backyard he always wanted to finish off, and never did. By the time we were clearing out his house (8 people for 2 weeks full time) the sunbeam club came to take away his cars for free, they were rooted. The club members said they had approached him often over the last few decades to give him fair money for the vehicles, he had always refused. there was almost nothing salvageable on all three. Fun fact, we gathered all the bicycle frames and wheels on his section and laid them standing up side by side against one of the rapiers: 14 meters of bicycles! There was also dozens of 40oz whiskey bottles full of used engine oil that had been there so long, one bottle was a foot off the ground because a shrub had grown around it and it was sticking out of the trunk. Nice diorama!

Thanks! Yeah. It's a common and tragic story. So many cars and bikes ruined over pride. I get that it's an owner's prerogative to do what they like with their vehicles, but it's also my prerogative to think that's dumb.

@@DiecastMediaNetwork yup! Anarchist theory is correct when they state that ownership of property is fundamentally the right to deny access to others! So many potential and valuable projects in my grandfathers collection that just rotted away.

looks great, interesting detailing. I was thinking you could have added the shreds of wiring from the roof insert and seats, but then again they wouldn't have been visible, anyway. :) nah, it's fine how it is. ^^
the leaf maker was also like, "Omnomnom!" using natural stuff is helping a lot, since it seldom is even-shaped.
I can also see Christina and Richard from the What The Rust channel come by and and bring the engine back to life after 42 years of neglect... :)
    not for sale story:
one of my gamer buddies is a wine-maker, and he overheard the story of a restaurant and winery here in germany that had to close gates a decade ago. the last owner, an elderly guy, bought all the wine he deemed good for the restaurant even as it became clear he'd have to give up eventually. after the act he kept on the boxes and crates of wine, several hundred bottles, saying "it will be worth something in the future!" thing is, as I have been told, wines that can be stored for more than two or three years, are a rarity. and thus, all the wine there is long since become undrinkable and worthless. if re-sold in time they could have had a couple thousand euros to pay off debts; now, they have nothing.
    never underestimate stubbornness.

As someone who enjoys a good glass of wine, that's heartbreaking to read, but it's sadly a too common refrain. My goal (and I'm not there yet) is to get rid of anything I don't plan on actually using. Of course, that would imply I should get rid of 90 percent of my diecast cars as I'm realistically never going to finish them all, but like I said, I'm working on it.

@@DiecastMediaNetwork I'm amassign die-casts, myself, without knowing if I can actually start to repair and customize them in the near future. but there are other things I definitely don't need, and shall be trying to resell. or give away if that doesn't work. but yes, it's a long road to walk on.
