      She usually enjoys his stuff, as he is quite a good joker

      Hey keep riding Bill like that, he's bound to cum sooner or later. I agree with a lot of what Bill says but saying everything he says is true is only going to make you whine down the line when he says something eventually that you disagree with. Happens all the time

    The eloquence of Bill Burr is unrivaled by today's entertainment and/or political thought leaders. He's like a modern-day Shakespearean character the way he takes us through such epic journeys in such nuanced detail🤣Ok but in all seriousness, Editor Diane is probably my favorite person on YT.

    I've said before, history is not here for us to love or hate or try to erase. It exists, there are great moments and individuals and terrible ones. We can learn from past mistakes so we don't repeat them. Or we can ignore what we now know was wrong and repeat the same things over and over.

    I remember having a conversation with my grandmother (born 1921) about 10-12 years ago. Somehow the topic of men hitting their wives came up. I told her that most men my age (born 1970) and younger consider men who do that to be cowards. She was genuinely surprised. (As far as I know, my grandfather never hit her, or at least never severely.) Some people need to learn or be reminded of how much and how quickly society changed in the last 50-60 years.
    There are some people now calling for the new James Webb Space Telescope to be renamed. James Webb (1906-1992) was a career bureaucrat, and the most important job he held was the head of NASA in the '60s when the U.S. was working toward landing on the Moon. Previously, he held other jobs in the federal government in the late '40s and early '50s, when it was official policy that all homosexuals be fired from government jobs. Someone asked me what it was that James Webb did that people are upset about. I replied that Webb committed the "crime" of not building a time machine, travelling into the future to learn that mistreating gay people is wrong, returning to his job in his own time, and then single-handedly thwarting the anti-gay policy approved by Presidents Truman and Eisenhower.

    I like your content because you recognize the norms from different eras. My mom and dad grew up in the 40's and 50's. I grew up in the 70's and 80's. People are trying to cancel Gone with The Wind because they use terms that today would be unthinkable in any conversation. Historic perspective, it's a good thing. If you ever get to Cincinnati, I'll buy you a four-way onion. Thanks,

    • @rootfish2671
      @rootfish2671 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gone With The Wind shouldn't be banned but have a warning at the beginning like some of those old Warner Brothers cartoons have like "This is a product of the time and we do not condone these beliefs but this is presented as a historical depiction of society and should not be forgotten." If we erase history then we can not learn from histories mistakes.

    The truck driver reference is to a TV show called "BJ and the Bear" that was popular in the US in the late 70s. In the show, the main charcter (plyaed by Greg Evigan) was a handsome 20 something truck driver with a pet Chimpanzee (who provided frequent comedy relief). In teh show he has his own trucking company along with a bunch of hot women including one known as "stacks" because she had such a beautiful body. It was typical 70s "jiggle TV," but is was campy adn fun and entertaining for it's time. I was about 10 years old at the time and never missed the show.

    Thoughts on cancel culture: (1) Nobody is just one thing. (2) It's possible to value someone's contributions even if the person isn't perfect. (3) That said, those imperfections can't be swept under the rug. My solution: I still laugh at an older Black comedian's jokes, but I won't say his name because he turned out to be a sick f--k. Jokes are still funny, though. Washington was a slave owner. In my view, that was NEVER okay, despite the times and economic circumstances. Should his statue be taken down? No, he was an American hero and one of the founding fathers. Likewise, Jefferson, but no one should pass over their owning other human beings. I want the history warts and all, no propaganda. Then I'll decide on a case-by-case basis.

    I know this is a bit serious for a comedy clip but I wonder if Women or at least the majority of women will admit that they ,not men , are most responsible for physical violence in a relationship, Men do more damage but women resort to physical violence more , if you doubt what I say there is plenty of independent data to back up my claim . The reason that the spotlight is shone on men is the fact that when men use violence the consequences tend to be more serious or in some cases fatal . Some women have been conditioned to believe that hitting men is acceptable , while most men realise the consequences of losing control are very serious indeed .

    Goes blank on Connery's name. Priceless.
    One of my pet peeves is that so many of the cancel culture types have no problem with portrayal of violence against men, or degrading men in general. The incompetent, clueless dad has become a comic staple, with the mom being the smart one.
    I don't always agree with him, but Burr is funny, and never worries about P.C. Dave Chappelle is in that category as well. His Juicy Smoliet routine is classic.

    As I understand it, Connery never advised hitting women. He was asked in an interview if he would *_ever_* hit a woman and he said something like, "I might give her a slap if she was hysterical or being a total bitch." This was immediate fodder for comedians who swung into action portraying him as a violent wife-beater for laughs.

    Silly Bill?! Those are straight facts!! Women do usually have the option, whether they take it or not!

    I like ED using the word "Medium" I do not think it is used enough. Canceling people who are dead is such a low bar. It's a bit like people talking smack about the Amish. Dead people and pacifists you have to be a real coward or emotional cripple to go after them. I am starting to get tired of Bill Burrs negativism. He is best taken in small quantities.
