Thanks for sharing your video. Just a little tip for riding most of the trails in Taylor park. 1. Standing up is much smoother over rough terrain. 2. Shift to 2nd gear as soon as possible to stay on top of the rocks & roots makes it so much smoother & fun. Maybe I'll see you on the trail one day. After riding the entire trail both ways in past few years. My buddies & I prefer to start at Garden Basin near Tincup. It seems to flow a little better. We rode it all this year in around 3.5 hours plus 2 hours of short breaks to enjoy the views & eat lunch.
Thanks for reminding me why we all quit riding Timberline over 10 years ago. Your GoPro doesn't do justice to the depth of those rock ledges in the slide areas. We always camped at Italian Creek and rode the whole timberline into Tin cup, eat at Frenchie's and back (after dark) to Italian Creek, or Spring Creek sometimes. Since it was always well over 110 miles we would stash gas cans in the trees where Timberline crosses Cottonwood pass when we came in, and pick up the empties on the way home. Love that area but as the body ages I preferer the trails like Bear Creek, Roaring Judy and over in the Cement Creek area. Still camp in Italian Creek area and have access to the above mentioned trails. That video brings back fond memories of well over 4 decades of sweet riding... Huge kudos for the ride, but can't say I'd do the whole thing by myself. Ride safe and have fun.
I just started riding single tracks after not doing so for 30 years. At least I have a low geared TW200 to do it with. My old trail bike was a Yamaha 175 enduro. Low enough geared to get through the tight stuff. Then I progressed to a 1986 XT 600, and it did just fine, but I was a lot younger and stronger back then. It is all that I can do to lift up my little 200 now days. LOL I use to like tough trails, use to are the key words here. I am getting a little better, but at 76, I do not know how much better that I can afford to get. I enjoy watching your video. Thanks for making it.
The rocks remind me of some of our AZ trails. You made me laugh when you were like “I had enough of this shit” (referencing the rocks). When I was watching, I was projecting myself on the trail and would have been thinking the same thing brother. 👍 43 miles on the day and three to the bailout, me too.
You’re my new hero. Epic ride right there. I’d bail too. You were tractering super good. The kids have been taking me on some fun flowy stuff. Gods country.
What I love about challenging trails: * Gets you to locations that very few people ever get to experience * The more difficult, the less people that can do it * It takes a lot of focus to keep your bike, gear, and body in tact * Nothing worthwhile and lasting (such as memories made on these rides) comes easy
once my age had a 6 in front of it I figured there was no shame in it. I am putting together ride maps for summer/fall in CB area. Rode there a lot 20-30 years ago but nothing recently so your videos are helpful to get a sense for which trails to hit or avoid. Looks like the Star is even rockier than the timberline? We ride a lot of tight root/rocky stuff but when it gets to be nothing but a 7-10 mile rockpile tend to look for something else.
Nice video. Taking a bike out this year for a ride or 2 in between sxs rides. I’ve done the timberline trail 414 from mirror lake restroom to Sanford creek back in 06 on a 4x4 quad, pretty cool trail and sketchy on 4 wheels.
Hi, nice park, ride and riding . You might concider a bigger bike . My xr650l will tractor up that shit for sure , more torch . I have trails like that and a bit steeper a few blocks from my house . My Sons xr400 tares right up that stuff also , any smaller bikes dont have enough torch, my buddys 250 wont do it and kids friend has 140 cc pocket bike barely gets up it . Safe riding :)
@@hannonenduro Gotcha I seen some more of your vids cool stuff , nice riding looks like you bikes doing well . How old are you ? I'm 58 I hear ya on the heavy red pig lol. Ride safe .
My Flatistan brother! Me and two other buddies are coming out here mid-July of 2024! As @voodoo511 mentioned, we're waiting long enough into the summer to make sure all the passes have a reasonable chance of being navigable. Have fun!
Two questions; 1) do you think a guy would have an advantage, bye adding a1/2 teeth to the rear for that terrain? 2) to ride what you road, which would be best. Ride the direction you went or the opposite. Go up the bail out first?
@@mikeburnett6222 August is the perfect time to go. Weather will be perfect! I will be out that way again but I’m not sure when just yet. July or August I’m thinking.
Yea, I get that sometimes. All of these trails are on COTrex, which is ran by the State of CO. They put them out there so people can find and enjoy them, because it’s public lands. So, blame the state for ruining your neighborhood.
oh please. lived in this valley all my life, secrets been out bud. we need more dirt bikers in gunnison county so we have more say. silent trekkers killed us in the early 2000s, can't lose more.

Just finished riding it yesterday. I really like that trail! Pie Plant to Tin Cup was around 30mi of single track.
1. and 2. all depends on the bike you own and gearing setup

I’m hoping for a few more years of riding out there. I’m gonna have to go back and ride the whole trail next time, and maybe bring some friends!

Glad you are still at it. I’m hoping to still be riding into my 70s too. The oldest guy I’ve met on the trail was 82!

Love your full trail videos...I ride 500EXC w a Rekluse, makes those tech rock sections so much easier!!!

I take the Polaris Sportsman out to Taylor also. It’s a great place for those too.
When you said, "Maybe I should slow down a little," and then just keep pouring the coal to it! LOL I have said the same thing before.

Rocky enough for ya ? Looks a lot like Oregon riding 😎🇺🇸
Shoot now I need to go to Oregon!
Is that a 300 or 500? And what you got strapped to the front fender? Hectic trail!
It’s a 300. That’s a tool bag up front. I have since relocated that to my pack.
Thx man. Bad ass trail. Well done.
Going out there in June of 2024 from Florida. What tires do you run?
I run the IRC VE33-S gummy tire. It performs really well in all kinds of terrain. Just goes away kinda quick!
You better check the snowfall for the winter going in June. Passes this year are still snowed in and snowing today in Taylor 6/17/23

I just went up the "bailout" on my t7... 😂😂. What a horrible idea
Yea it’s a little nicer going down!
Great video! What are you riding?
It’s a ‘21 300XC-W. Been a really reliable bike.
This trail looks like fun.. how many miles was it?
I think 10 miles or so. I didn’t finish it, I took a bail out. It ends on Tincup Pass.
What defenses do you bring along for Grizzlies?
Just my charming personality!
@lylemorse6959 No grizzlies in Colorado.

@@mikeburnett6222That all depends on your setup. Gearing shouldn’t be a big issue I wouldn’t think.
You mentioned that you were using a trail app. What is the name of the app? Nice riding!
I’m using the Colorado Trail Explorer app. It is free and works really well. There is a link to it on my channel home page. Thanks for watching!
@@hannonenduro Thank you so much.
What time of year is this? I am looking to go next year around late April. Not sure if all will be green yet
@@vasvideo8222 that was an early August trip. If you go before July the passes might still be snowed in.
