Yesterday Dubai and desert climate and now in Mangaluru (Mangalore) and all that green. Unfortunately I have never been to India. It seems like another enchanted world... the food looks delicious. Do you also go to Mumbai (Bombay)? Another TH-camr had also shown travel reports from Mumbai. The city must be stunning.
glad they served the biryani to you, as most foreigners, just don't realize that it's layered... so they only scrape the top and don't realize its supposed to go all together.
Hope you had a great time in India. The raita is made with yoghurt. It helps to decrease the spiciness in the biryani. Also I hope you visited Mumbai too.
Oh, buddy, there are soooo many things to try, just in the Biryani category. There are many styles and you can get chicken, pork, beef, fish, lamb, and goat. I think goat and lamb are the best. It's also a pretty random order you had there... Since your in the South try(Kannada, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Goa), chicken curry(many types, you will have to figure out which one you like), goat curry, Goan fish curry, chicken cafreal, Kerala Fish curry, parotta and Kerala beef, beef fry, chicken 65, masala dosa, pork/beef/chicken vindaloo, Chicken Xacuti, Kerala prawn curry, fish fry, Andhra chicken fry, Kerala chicken roast, puri and sabji, appam and chicken curry, thattukada chicken, chicken madras, nadan chicken curry, Porotta kotu(beef, chicken, pork), beef/fish cutlets, many many more Check out the following: Hampi(Karnataka), Badami( Aihole and Pattadaka)l, Kerala Backwaters, Varkala( Kerala(, Fort Kochi ( Kerala), Madurai( Tamil Nadu ), Pondicherry (the french quarters), Mamallapuram / Mahabalipuram, (Tamil Nadu), Mysore, Karnataka, Hyderabad, During which you can find many churches(Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu), mosques, temples, etc. Desserts: Mysore Pak, Ladoos (many types), halwa (Kerala), Semiya Payasam
Go to Madhuvan’s village restaurant in Mangalore, choose an area to sit especially the open space they have and try some mud crab ghee roast, prawns tawa fry, squid butter garlic or ghee roast and neer dosa with some gravy. You can have some Budweiser, Heineken, king fisher, or tuborg beer if the weather is harsh or order in some lime juice sweet and salt ( inform them if you do not want salt to be added or you can mention as less salt as possible to be added in your juice) or go for an orange juice because Mangalore is humid . Leave your trash outside the room. Mangalore waste management follows segregation of waste into wet waste and dry waste . It is your job to separate the waste and keep it outside. If it isn’t taken, you need to inform the reception/help desk . Do visit Pabbas ice cream parlour. Speak in English and be a little louder and clearer or maybe slower in your pronunciation especially when you are talking to older people or waiters. They will understand :) Most Mangaloreans speak English but if you come across someone who doesn’t speak the language, maybe they aren’t from Mangalore. They could be migrants residing in Mangalore and doing some business. Many students in Mangalore are also from neighboring cities and states as Mangalore is an educational hub with many medical and engineering colleges.

@TriFate Lifestyle Try exploring places that aren't already shown by others. That's the best way to experience India. I really hope visiting just Mumbai, Delhi, Agra and Bye Bye India is not your plan😅! Explore the unexplored☺. I'd say Mangalore is a very smart choice! Also Indian food is just as diverse as it's people. Ask the locals especially the youth or bloggers on Instagram or just google :) for where you can find traditional food of that place. Since you are in mangalore try like an authentic mangalorean/karnataka(state) food. Biriyanis and butter chicken masala you can find in America too but the traditional Karnataka food, You'd only find in Karnataka. ❤. Visit the temples...mosques or some archeological sites since you are in the south of India, let me tell you the architecture is amazing. Again always ask the locals. Don't trust youtube vlogs ☺
Since you find Biriyani spicy you should order a " Raita",with it which is basically different vegetables in curd, but if you don't want to eat the raw veggies in the Raita you can have "boondi" Raita which is tiny fried balls made of chickpea flour and put in the curds and is quite delicious. Try it once. The Raita,of which there any many types depending on the vegetable in it , including fruity pineapple raita, basically tones down the spiciness of any dish.Curd is cooling.
Hotel you where you stayed is "Hotel Mangalore International". It is a budget hotel right in centre of the city. But for travellers I would have suggested different hotels not that this hotel is any lesser, it is a budget hotel. You can keep your trash outside of your room and they will tale it away, Anyways If you are still in Mangalore or Bangalore you can ping me and I can help out with places. I just wish you were in Mangalore when I saw your posts and I would have helped out taking you places some of the truly gems of the city and around, There are temples and churches that are around for hundreds of years and you would have loved it. If you still wanna visit, ping me and I can take you there, cheers gents.
I’m sorry to disappoint anyone who is a fan of Hyderabadi Biryani with my comment but Hyderabad Biryani just doesn’t have enough flavours. When I first came to Hyderabad, I was overly excited to try all kinds of food here because of the hype around the city. After residing in Hyderabad for over 2 years, I got to say that the place doesn’t have enough variety or tasty food . Many places serve salty and spicy food with not many flavours in it. Indian food is all about the flavours and being a South Indian who loves her spices very much, Hyderabad city just doesn’t get it right. The Biryani in Hyderabad has no layers nor the nice masala that’s supposed to be in the Biryani with Indian spices that gives the right taste to any Biryani. The Biryani in Hyderabad is extremely bland. Where is the masala in the Biryani?? The saalan given separately is not good at all. Salty again and no flavours in it !! The only places that serve good Biryani according to me in Hyderabad are Pista house or Shah Ghouse but you have to choose the right kind of Biryani from the list they provide or else you are going to get disappointed again. Hyderabad doesn’t have enough options in terms of food. Their shawarmas are not as tasty as other cities maybe because of the Mayo and the sauces they use. The city doesn’t have good seafood either (The fisherman’s wharf is ok) and the street fish fries are not bad but not many options again. All fish fry masalas they use taste the same. No variety like ghee roast masala, tawa fry , red masala fry, green masala fry, crispy masala fry etc. Their South Indian breakfast is kinda soggy and doesn’t taste as good as the South Indian breakfast served in other South Indian states or cities. It just gives a wrong idea to others about South Indian breakfast. Many of my friends who are North Indians or East Indians say it’s oily and soggy . I started hating south Indian breakfast after tasting Hyderabad vadas and dosas. They aren’t crispy at all. The masala dosas, vadas, the buns, goli baje, poori baaji and the variety you get in Karnataka especially in Mangalore and Bangalore is on another level. Everything is crispy and tasty. The food is Hyderabad is just hyped out of proportion. Most of the dishes in Hyderabad are bland and spicy and the street food (especially chicken tandoori/grill/chicken fry/kebabs) is tasteless and the ingredients you are going to taste are chili and salt. Salt is loaded in some dishes for no apparent reason. However, I must say that Hyderabad has good cafes and some very nice Breweries like Broadway brewery (they serve good food, too) . The city has very good roads compared to Karnataka. People are very nice but extremely lazy and we need to call them repeatedly to fix a malfunction. Also, the driving skills of people in Telangana is pathetic. They do not check their left or their right mirrors/sides while taking turns and they will ram into you even when you have parked. It’s weird that way!! Someone rammed into my husband’s car twice while the car was parked . Once at the traffic signal waiting on a red light and next time when parked at the toll and they don’t even stop and clarify. They just drive even if they are at fault. Don’t get me wrong, I love Hyderabad very much because it’s less communal compared to Karnataka :) but the food is not so good. I would like to add that Kerala, Karnataka, Mumbai, Delhi and many other cities definitely have tastier food compared to Hyderabad. Bangalore and Mangalore serve better biryanis and Mangalore has different cuisines which include amazing seafood, Italian, Chinese, ice creams , biryanis with flavours, breakfast like crispy vadas, poori with baaji (potato baaji is better than korma) , masala dosas with potato baaji, sheera/Kesari baath, Mangalore buns, also shawarmas and chicken grill that taste heavenly . Go to Mangalore and taste ice creams like Dilkush, gudbad, tiramisu at ideals ice cream , OR “some like it hot” at cherry square or brick house . So tasty and out of the world
