  • Today we're discussing Intel's crazy naming scheme for their consumer desktop CPUs. We'll go over the 4 big classifications for naming: The generation, the microarchitecture or codename, the family, and the core, as well as some smaller classifications, such as letter suffixes, the last three numbers, and sockets.

I was looking for exactly this and you've done a great job.
    One thing though,
I think you left one of the most important parts relevant today and that is laptop CPU names. For the layman a laptop is now more relevant than ever and they might be seeking info about laptop CPUs.
And for someone reading this, it's
i7-6700HQ where the numbers are all explained in the video but HQ is a laptop only spec. Full list hence becomes:
    G1-G7
Graphics level (processors with new integrated graphics technology only)
    F
    Requires discrete graphics
    G
    Includes discrete graphics on package
    H
    High performance optimized for mobile
    HK
High performance optimized for mobile, unlocked
    HQ
High performance optimized for mobile, quad core
    K
    Unlocked
    S
    Special edition
    T
    Power-optimized lifestyle
    U
    Mobile power efficient
    Y
    Mobile extremely low power

As a long time AMD user, I was looking for just this. Thanks. Ryzen was the best thing to happen for consumers in a while - great processors alone, but they also made Intel feel the heat price and performance-wise.

You talk about the designations for CPUs that can be overclocked. Can you make a video on one might do this on a Hackintosh?
