- A pear body shape can best be understood by understanding your body measurements. Here are some characteristics that often apply:
• Your hips and thighs are wider than your shoulders and bust.
• Your have a defined waist that is narrow compared to your hips.
The most common body type or figure proportion for women is the pear shape. That means when you are measuring your body, the widest part of your body is below your waist, right around your hips. Remember, you can be tall, short, heavy, or skinny and still be a pear-shaped body type.
If you’re a pear-shaped woman, your goal with outfits is to elongate your figure so that you look less bottom-heavy and more balanced. The first thing to do is to balance your hips and your shoulders while showing off your curves. The key here is to accentuate your top half.

yes! this is perfect and so helpful. i was so so skinny and recently gained weight to a healthy weight and felt so uncomfortable in the clothes i had before… all the weight gained was to my thighs and my butt. so wearing clothes from before meant for someone skinny, made my thighs way too apparent and made me feel huge lol. i’ve started taking my body shape into account and i feel way more confident :) i still struggle with what kind of shorts work for pear shaped ppl tho!
