I have done work on custom cars. One of the things I do when shaping foam for creating fiberglass molds is I will take a butane torch and heat my blade (xacto, putty knife, whatever I am cutting with) to red hot, It works like a hot wire foam cutting tool. Very smooth finish but it will have a kerf almost double the thickness of the blade. I throw this idea out there and wonder if you have played with heating your cutting devices. After discovering your videos, I am a total addict and am enjoying your insane abilities. I bought my g-kids a 1/64 scale slot car set. I would like to surprise them with a Utah National Park motif (Arches/Zion). I hope in a few years 🙂 I have a finished product. You are inspirational.
Very cool project you have ahead of you. I like your idea. I have tried heating up a blade to cut with, only issue is to control the amount of melt from the heat. Best tool to use if wanting to use heat is a hot wire. They work very nicely. I have use this technique for custom work as well , great way to create a wide body , or flares . 😂… but when your shaping the foam your sanding and smoothing out some of the cuts before you lay out the glass . Unfortunately with scenery it gets a little bit more precise. But by all means, get a wire cutter. They work great and some come with different cutting tips . Thank you for sharing and watching. Hope the videos get some ideas flowing 😂
Once again booneman you have created a masterpiece this is what I meant when I mentioned wanting to see your imagination. You are a sculpter and an artist and a good friend. Oh and a teacher thankyou my friend iend
Boone what a great video, your attention to detail is fantastic! It’s a long video, I watched it straight through. My wife will go crazy when she’s back from work I haven’t done any chores!!!
I agree with you Boone. Razor knives are great modeling tools. But another thing I found them great for is quick trips to the emergency room. 😂 Gotta keep focused, and if you feel a sneeze coming on, put the knife down. 😂
@@BoonesSlotCarGarage … Thank you again for an entertaining and informative video. I may never put a tunnel in a raceway, but I’ve learned skills that can be used on other track projects. Enjoy brotha 🏎️😎🤙
Great video! When I saw it was 3 hrs I went whew, but it flew by! I built an ESSO guy from your earlier video and it turned out great. Thanks for sharing your ideas and techniques. I'm building a 100 foot (approx) long Carrera track and doing full scenery at my son's home for the grandkids and us. Fortunately he has a 1500 sq ft basement so space is not an issue. Now I'm going to have to find a place to fit in a tunnel!
Thank you Mark , yes it’s a little bit of a long one 😂… happy you enjoyed it. Sounds like a fun build that you have planned. And every track needs an Esso guy .. 😆
Great work …. As always. only point of critsism…. Cut out Tunnels usually do not have brick wals an cealing. It’s either rock or concrete. But it looks really good
At 2:08:37 "...this video is long" the cathartic properties can in no way be denied, however. It beats the cornbread hell out of watching the grievously boorish & lopsided score keeping of the current holy war. Yep. Just gonna hang out in my shop, watch slot car videos for ideas & whatnot.👻👻👻
Boy, some day I hope to have a track that looks this great. I finally bought a track for the first time and cars won't even run on it. They stall every time they come to a corner... 😞

Mr Boone's, do you have a video of how to level the track, before starting the model?
No , I don’t have a video covering this.
Muy bueno, fantástico
Thank you 😊
Mr Boone's, the track is fixed or only stays in position with what you put on the side?
