He went in for it right away, thank god. Time makes all the difference (not that the kid waited too long per se of course, sometimes they just go bad super fast)
Ed smiling on the hospital bed was honestly so cute (without being a weirdo) he has such a beautiful smile! I’m glad you took the pain seriously and got the right treatment 🎉
Poor Ed had learned the after anesthetic exhaustion. Even an hour can wipe you out for days! You did so well and I'm glad you didn't wait until it was peritonitis as that's scary.
I know someone who waited too long and it ruptured! Months of recovery, including multiple surgeries, sepsis, ICU... amazingly she fully recovered. But not something you want to go through.
My mum had appendicitis years ago but our doctor never took her seriously and when she went to the hospital (after thepain got to be way too much) , they left her too long and it ruptured when she rolled over in the hospital bed. They finally did something about it, but she would have been dead in 2 hours or less if they didn't do anything about it there, and then
@feuerling it's called the resources at the doctors and the hospital being stretched and them having to prioritise more life threatening cases over hers at that time
Ed I’m so glad you went to the ER and didn’t try to make it to the show. As a nurse I’ve seen people who have waited until their appendix ruptures and that can make for some nasty complications. 👍🏻
Mine ruptured as they were taking it out, and hoooboy, even that sucked a whole bunch. I cannot even imagine how bad it would be to have the full rupture happen while you’re just out and about, minding your own business.
Ed is very fortunate to have such a supportive partner. And you both have supportive friends and family. Good to see and well deserved. Good healing vibes to Ed.
@@FirstNameLastNameANameIt’s a good thing they took his pain seriously and nipped it in the butt right away. I think anyone will take being sore and sleepy from surgery over being in so much pain from something like appendicitis.
My husband went through the same thing earlier this year. He didn't mention anything to me about stomach pain until I went to the hospital thinking I had appendicitis only to find out I was fine. He asked me what symptoms were appendicitis. Started checking off the same symptoms. Made him go check it out. They confirmed it and he had to go in for surgery that day to get his removed. Glad Ed had it checked out and did well.
Ed is a beast! When I got my gallbladder removed I was crawling on the floor on my hands and knees to get to the bathroom for days. Glad to see him recover so well!
I wasn’t crawling, but I definitely was clutching my walker post gallbladder removal. The drive home was hell, I can’t believe how unbothered he was. I was clutching a pillow against my abdomen the whole drive in so much pain.
I'm already not a fan of surprises in general, and I know I have a lot of things that really scare me, but appendicitis is on the higher end of that list. I have constant aches and pains and it terrifies me to think that I'll misread the signs as just another dumb thing my body is whining about that won't matter tomorrow. My mom told me about the heel strike trick but I'm still paranoid. And needles are the bane of my existence... really, much respect to anyone that's handled having it.
@@RadiantSharaShaymin would you believe mine was actually an unexpected bonus to getting my gallbladder out? doctor called in with the results of my CAT scan with 'oh hey, you have appendicitis!' and i was very 'that was not the organ i thought we'd be discussing but go on...'
So glad Ed decided not to wait and get looked at sooner than later. It's amazing to watch him walking around so quickly after the surgery too but glad that he took it easy and gave himself time to begin healing. When I had my gallbladder removed, I was in so much pain (and back to the hospital for complications) I didn't want to move much.
As someone that’s had 40+ surgeries in my life.. I have a new found respect for Ed! Making it to a show after a surgery involving organs is absolute beast mode! 💪🏼

It's kinda funny to me that filming is becoming almost like a coping thing for this generation. Like you can tell Emily is worried and filming helps, and that Ed likes it giving him smthn to do after surgery. Ofc you can also tell that there's care and reassurance there too. And confidence in Drs lol

Feeling for Ed in this! I had my appendix out 20 years ago (I’m old!) and I still remember that pain level. I’m impressed that he was even upright! Well done.
I was really afraid of anesthesia when I had surgery for the first time early this year. You're not alone, Ed! Glad it went smoothly and wishing you a swift recovery!
I was terrified when I had my appendix out, too - not necessarily of the anesthesia, but the whole concept of surgery in general. Of course, I had also just read a medical thriller where people were “dying” during appendicitis surgeries, except they weren’t, they were being kept comatose but alive for a complicated organ harvest scheme, so as they began sedating me my panic over that book came out and I started crying and begging them not to harvest my organs. First thing the anesthesiologist said to me when I woke up was I had all my organs except the one I wanted them to take. 😂🤦🏼♀️
@@khillsOh no, that sounds exactly like something I would do, getting freaked out at the last second. I've been KO'd for medical stuff 3 times now, but it was all for my stupid teeth that hate me. (2 for baby teeth, 1 for "wisdom" teeth... more like wis-DUMB teeth. Wouldn't wish those things on anyone, and I didn't even get the worst of what I heard they can do.) Any other kind of removal surgery would make me so paranoid about whatever my brain comes up with though :( medical stuff scares me so much and the idea of a bunch of strangers taking my insides while I'm out just makes me shiver.
Aw, poor Ed, but to echo another comment, I'm so glad you both took the pain seriously and got it checked out ASAP instead of going to the show and letting it become a much more dire situation. I hope you both got some extra much needed rest once you got home
Glad everything went well for Ed, my husband had to have his appendix removed a back in 2020 (naturally during Thanksgiving week...). It started as just a sharp pain in his stomach and I'm so glad he took it seriously and asked me to take him to the ER. Sadly it was during covid so he had to go alone, but big shout out to taking health seriously!
@suran396 for my husband it started around his belly button as just a kind of sharp pain and then by morning it had migrated to his side, it had been about 12 hours of consistent pain so he started researching it and appendicitis was something that popped up a few times. So he went it and it turned out he was right, luckily he went in before it burst so he was out the next day.
So feel for you, Ed. I understand how you feel. I had a sudden surgery like yours (only mine was galbladder) back in February. Totally throws you off. Glad to see you're doing better. Keep on healing!

Love all the shenanigans as usual
Append-ex. Fun fact: In German the appendix is called "Wurmfortsatz", which literally translates to "worm(-like) extension". And snakes are usually rather worm-shaped.
I am watching this in an ER room lol Edit: I got clipped by a car. No broken bones just a bunch of bumps, bruises, and scrapes so far. I am mostly here to get everything checked out. Sorry for not giving more context, i didn't think to do so😅

My mom being my mom, said heck no and that they need to do an MRI. Thank god they did because they found out I had an AVM which is bacically in normal english, "tangle of malformed blood vessels that can pop and bleed... a lot." so basically the AVM popped and if we went home that night, I could have died. The stopped the bleeding and monitored it a lot. After a year, i finally got surgery to remove it. Watching your videos after surgery while recovering made it so much better! Thank you so much Emily and Ed.
My empathy to Ed. I had sudden searing stomach pain at work last week and had to be wheeled out on an ambulance. In my case, it was a burst ovarian cyst. I was lucky to not have to have surgery. I wish Ed a speedy recovery!
I'm so glad Ed took his pain seriously and got help in a timely fashion. The first time I went under, I was 12 and I was super scared about the whole "you could not wake up thing". They took good care of me and I recovered quickly thanks to the copious amounts of pudding and pain medication. So happy to hear everything went smoothly and Ed is recovering quickly. :)
I'm so glad Ed is doing okay! He needs a Superman shirt for even being at the show after all that! My daughter-in-law and another of my favorite TH-camrs had horrible complications. So glad Ed is ok, it goes to show the importance of getting checked out. I had a bunch of symptoms I put off as getting older. Eventually, I went to the dr and was diagnosed with diabetes. Now I've lost weight, got my sugars down, and most of my symptoms disappeared
My kid got his appendix out when he was 5. I caught it when the doctor thought he was likely to not even have it. They did a test to make sure and it just barely told him his appendix was just barely begining to get inflamed. Those thems mama superpowers.
I just want to hug Emily so tight every time this video comes back up on my feed. You can see the emotion in her face after the surgery is over. I've dealt with a spouse in awful pain in the ER and it is SCARY. So much love to you to having to go through that Emily.

They finally did something about it, but she would have been dead in 2 hours or less if they didn't do anything about it there, and then
@Nekogal21 that sounds like medical malpractice
@feuerling it's called the resources at the doctors and the hospital being stretched and them having to prioritise more life threatening cases over hers at that time
@@Nekogal21 if hers ruptured that is a life threatening condition because it can cause sepsis
My friend waited for 6 hours in the ER and his ruptured. He almost died. He has a giant healed over hole in his stomach now!
Complications such as death?
I had a 9 hour wait in A&E (the ER) followed by a 36 hour wait for surgery, then mine ruptured in the surgery itself. It SUCKED.

Keyhole surgery is so much better than when I got a very large incision to remove my appendix 45 years ago. Have a quick and uneventful recovery Ed 🤗
Ed is very fortunate to have such a supportive partner. And you both have supportive friends and family. Good to see and well deserved. Good healing vibes to Ed.
Thank you so much for taking Fin! I'm sad that I can no longer keep him but wouldn't want him to go anywhere but with you!
Ohh no..... Poor Ed! Appendicitis is horrible! Love how u never stop with the humour, even when life gets serious ! Hope you get better soon!
He was moving at the show and said he felt better.
@@FirstNameLastNameANameIt’s a good thing they took his pain seriously and nipped it in the butt right away. I think anyone will take being sore and sleepy from surgery over being in so much pain from something like appendicitis.
Emily acting like a protective mother when Ed is trying to do stuff he isn’t allowed yet to do because of his appendicitis is really cute 🙃
Took me the entire 3 weeks to recover losing mine. Was my first surgery, though. xD
I wasn’t crawling, but I definitely was clutching my walker post gallbladder removal. The drive home was hell, I can’t believe how unbothered he was. I was clutching a pillow against my abdomen the whole drive in so much pain.
as a fellow member of the 'surprise, you have appendicitis!' club, i'm glad you're doing okay, ed!
@@torsui That sounds so unlucky, yet lucky that they caught it in time. I wouldn't know what to think :(
So glad Ed decided not to wait and get looked at sooner than later. It's amazing to watch him walking around so quickly after the surgery too but glad that he took it easy and gave himself time to begin healing. When I had my gallbladder removed, I was in so much pain (and back to the hospital for complications) I didn't want to move much.
Phew. Thought Ed was ill again. This was from a few weeks ago and not that he regrew his appendix lol.

As someone that’s had 40+ surgeries in my life.. I have a new found respect for Ed! Making it to a show after a surgery involving organs is absolute beast mode! 💪🏼

As another person with a bunch of surgeries (I think my record was nine in one year, like 40 hospital visits though) my respect for Ed for going to the show and for Emily making sure Ed was ok, and making sure he didn’t overexert himself has shot through the roof
@@therubestergaming yea the majority of mine were ortho.. some of my last couple were organ related. No broken bone touches organ pain. It’s another ball game
Emily and Ed are so wholesome, like you know, these good people. The respect is envious!!! She coulda filmed him just coming out of sedation, but she allowed him to recover and have a nights rest! Im 2 mins in, and i can't take no more cuteness!!! Thank you for sharing yalls life with us!
It's kinda funny to me that filming is becoming almost like a coping thing for this generation. Like you can tell Emily is worried and filming helps, and that Ed likes it giving him smthn to do after surgery. Ofc you can also tell that there's care and reassurance there too. And confidence in Drs lol
Poor Ed. You could tell he was not well, he was so pale! Glad he is healing and doing better! What a trooper!

Feeling for Ed in this! I had my appendix out 20 years ago (I’m old!) and I still remember that pain level. I’m impressed that he was even upright! Well done.
Thanks
I was really afraid of anesthesia when I had surgery for the first time early this year. You're not alone, Ed! Glad it went smoothly and wishing you a swift recovery!
Same
I was terrified when I had my appendix out, too - not necessarily of the anesthesia, but the whole concept of surgery in general. 😂🤦🏼♀️
It's like teleporting!
Aww Emily was so relieved when he was out of surgery promptly. I hope recovery goes well.
Yes, but how do you actually know? I sometimes have severe tummy cramps. How is this different?
@suran396 for my husband it started around his belly button as just a kind of sharp pain and then by morning it had migrated to his side, it had been about 12 hours of consistent pain so he started researching it and appendicitis was something that popped up a few times. So he went it and it turned out he was right, luckily he went in before it burst so he was out the next day.
So feel for you, Ed. I understand how you feel. I had a sudden surgery like yours (only mine was galbladder) back in February. Totally throws you off. Glad to see you're doing better. Keep on healing!
I also had emergency gallbladder surgery in Feb!!! Lol i hope you're doing great too, my gallbladderless twin :P

I love that Emily’s “why the heck not?!” Phrase is: “FOR SCIENCE!!” Great video, great times! Glad Ed is recovering/recovered. ❤
Ed is such a beast, could have very understandably not gone to the show and taken the time to himself to recoup and this king insists on going to the show and even tries to help despite having just had emergency surgery, way to go Ed for listening to his body in the first place and not waiting to be seen and then going forward with a whole event. Love all the shenanigans as usual
Hope Ed is healed up. If the Argentine boa doesn't have a name yet, maybe commemorate the lost appendix? Penny? Appy? Appendrix? Hendrix?

I was gifted a little stuffed otter when I had my appendix out and I named him after the experience. His name is morphine😂
Should name it Vicodin, Vicky for short!
Append-ex.
Fun fact: In German the appendix is called "Wurmfortsatz", which literally translates to "worm(-like) extension".
And snakes are usually rather worm-shaped.
😂 I was thinking it should match the others, but I like the idea of having a fire related line of snakes and a not fire related naming line of snakes

as soon as I saw this in my notifications i had to make sure youre ok. thank god. praying for u! This reminds me of when I had brain surgery. Im 14, and when I was 9, one evening my head really hurt like 9/10 hurt. Parents rushed me to the ER and after 2 hrs waiting for the doctor he was like, "she'll be fine. You can go home".
