Ah the sound of the k&n- - unmistakable round McDonalds, Tesco & Halfords car parks in the late 90s/early 00s. Esp when twinned with a stainless exhaust or a back box...
I remember the excitement of a 57i being the first mod on my 16v Corsa Sri back in the 90s. Everyone still had Novas so I felt like a real bad boy running the newer car😂 Sounded great though.
Loving the videos and the channel Dougie! Long time lurker and havent commented before. My parents in the 90's had 2 Caverliars. 1 was nicked cus it has alloys on it and they dumped my child seat I'm the car park they nicked it from. Police found the car on bricks in Birmingham I think. Visiting my Mum in Dunbar this week. I'll have to keep an eye out for you seeming you're fairly local 😜
Great stuff Dougie. That back panel is common rot area. You can buy the back panels from COPE in the Netherlands but your repair is much more sensible given the way the car will be used. You’ve done a good solid repair. I can’t wait to see it on the road be interesting to see how the 2L performs.
Sounds mint! I put a 57i on my mum's fiesta, seeing the disgust on peoples faces seeing that the noise was emanating from a base model 1.25 turd was definitely worth the £60 odd it cost back then!
Well, talking 80's & 90's..... I did my first K&Ns and Pecos in 1987 on my 1275GT Mini. 1 fitted and stolen Pioneer later, always fitted Alpine systems to most of my cars (BMWs excluded - too much hassle & cost). RF speakers in the exe's SRi 130. Never put stickers on the cars (although my 407 sh1tbox has a faded JBL sticker on the tailgate. Latest Alpine was bought from a hospice shop and is in my Calibra SE9 V6, just got to sort the speakers now! Flying to Weston in her this weekend, let her stretch her legs! Tidy content Dougie.
Great fast work. I remember fawning over the 57i k&n kits in the back of max power revs fast car etc..... The corsa sounds good but yeah hot airs a waste of time the OE filter box is well desugned so maybe drilling it then a good panel filter? The astra estate getting loads of work done. Glad u chopped out the rot.
I bought two 40v Ferrex batteries from Aldi and discovered when I got home that some scrote had swapped one of them in the box for a broken 2018 battery. Fair play to Aldi, they said it’s not uncommon and swapped it out for a brand new one.
Yeah my mate had one about 20 years ago. Rare when new and super rare now. Don't know why they weren't more popular when there was no Cavalier estate. The SRi estate has 175/70 tyres standard and the wide ratio F16 box which I always found odd.
i had one of those cones on a c14se years ago, got bored of the sound and it didnt make it any faster. best mod for that engine is porting the cylinder head, after i did that it really flew. oh and de-restricting the airbox and drilling 2-3 holes in it gives a nicer more subtle intake sound.
Back in the day when I had cavaliers open the air box clips and jam a bit of wood in there to hold it open job done 😂😂 was always cut springs car was ready to hit the car meets few quid on cutting discs bit wood for air box wash polish and your off the good old day
Have you seen Tasty classics new vid? He has rescued a virtually standard little Nova merit. It’s a tad rusty but might be good for you for some spares or a project.
Also the old Corsa B SRI was surprisingly slow for the era 0-60mph according to the spec sheet was 12 seconds , My 1.2 8 valve Fiat 500 can do that and its only got 69bhp lol , I think the one to get Dougie was the 1.6 GSI as that thing did 0-60 mph in like 9 seconds and 125mph top end so much better.
@@OnceDrivenForeverSmitten Aha 🤔 as on the Spec sheet on Google it's say 12 seconds for the SRI ? Maybe do a timed 0-60mph on one of your videos Dougie 🙂👍
Can't wait to see that 2 litre CDX getting a pasting. Turned a bland car into something quite interesting. Be a good workhorse. Edit: 2 tone paint is a good idea and I reckon pre face-lift with gingercaters
I was one of those with the 1.4 in the wrong spec level Corsa b.. passed driving test and 'borrowed' one of dad's cars for sixth form and college. K&N, massive stereo and then ragged the tits off off it. It took everything I threw at it and more so.
I remember years ago back in the 00s i had a 2003 Corsa 1.2 sport and sadly when my friend fitted a big bore exhaust and the K and N air filter to that , It made it like 5bhp slower and you could tell as i got beaten by a bloody smart car once on a dual carriageway up to 60mph so embarrassing and no it was not even a Smart roadster just the old Smart fortwo LOL i think those things only had like 60bhp so god knows how slow the Corsa C was haha
We all love you Dougie for keeping old Vauxhall's alive. You're videos always make me happy🎉
Ah the sound of the k&n- - unmistakable round McDonalds, Tesco & Halfords car parks in the late 90s/early 00s. Esp when twinned with a stainless exhaust or a back box...
The sound of the Corsa really did put a smile on my face, brilliant Dougie.
👋🏻
I'm chuffed you're uploading regular again!
Damn mate - you did a lot of work patching up that back panel, best thing for it. No one will ever see it and its sound.
Fair play Dougie your not shy of doing work on your fleet. I need a kick in the arse to fix up my sierra
I remember the excitement of a 57i being the first mod on my 16v Corsa Sri back in the 90s. Everyone still had Novas so I felt like a real bad boy running the newer car😂 Sounded great though.
Nice one. I need to weld my 1994 Ford Granada Scorpio. Both rear sills have holes in.
Blimey that welding looks really good. Great job there! 👍
That induction sound took me right back to the 90’s 😜
Nice job on the rear apron dougie, just saying from North of Newcastle👍👍💯

Bloody good job on welding the back end

I love your enthusiasm. Keep it up!
Great fast work.

Ah back when an induction kit was about 60 notes…. Good times.
Another great video has always Dougie 👍
Its great you have a goid few cars but wouldn't it be easier having 3 really good ones you can make the best you can.But always great content for us👍
Induction noise is perfect
The K&N does sound sweet Dougie. You just need a 'Boom n Burble' back box and that will be 90's version of a pop n bang map
I really love that gold color, actually.
Great stuff
Excellent I need to get motivated to do my Astra now love the k&n had one on my corsa Sri many years ago yours go really well

Yes I had a 57i kit on my astra mk2 Sri sounded great your astra looking good 👍
15:07 Can't beat a Kenneth & Nigel filter!!! 😂😂😂
Remember when you could get an sri estate on the early mk3's J and K reg.

Needing a chain block for all keys 😂😂😂

They're quicker than 12 seconds the MK3 Astra 1.4 82PS would manage that. I'd say the Corsa is 10 secs to 60.

What's happening with cav turbo ?
I put a k&n on my corsa b and it used to suffer with heat soak and would bog down even with a cold air feed 😂😂
Hello bob😾
and when you could`nt afford a k an N
drill holes in the bottom of the Airbox...
N x

Amazing what you can get from Lidl 😂

That colour on the Astra is "Jewish Racing Gold"
good old Jewish racing green (Gold) A right bugger to match.
TSW Stealths were nice wheels! You'll need the "mission aborted, gone for a spl1ff" sticker too😅
"No muff 2 tuff" was one of the favourites on the mk2 gte's back in the day.
@robmk3 I must have missed that one mate 🤣
tsw venoms over stealths hahah😊
Certainly looks like another mile muncher.
