I've been on the spanners for years but work in a workshop with ramps, i do most of the clutch jobs that come through the door so i admire the fact you do them on the floor, its hard labour that's for sure, just done a mini 4x4, i would not want to tackle that on the floor 😅, keep up the top notch work mate 🤙👍👊💪

You are not just good mate, your very good at the clutch jobs. ive been messing about with motors since i was a10 year old and im 64 now, you do great work and earn every penny.. you got the right tools and they aint cheap, but still have to know how to use them the right way...... that ratchet is a life saver ha ah im halfway through doing a Berlingo diesel clutch so know what a pain they can be ..

I appreciate your work, I understand that it is not easy to work lying on the ground but you are not at the top, you had to clean the entire area of the flywheel with special liquid and then pass a coat of fine-grained sandpaper to make the surface rough of the clutch disc so that the clutch disc works at its best.

As a fellow mechanic of 25+ yrs, I must say, you are a very dedicated man doing those jobs even in the adverse weather conditions. I'm just curious, you being a specialist mechanic, do you still have to keep buying tools to keep up w changing vehs like most other professionals? Great job as always.

Another excellent upload, really enjoy these! Have you ever thought about getting a unit and have the customers travel to you, so you could have a 2 post lift etc in and be in the dry?
I wouldn't want to drive to someone and then wait 2 hours and pay a lot of money for the repair. rent, lift and everything will probably be transferred to the customer. I would sell certain cars before going to someone to fix them. So it's transparent, no hassle, you don't have to wait 2 hours somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Or have to be picked up in order to have to drive back later. You need a driver for that. And then you're not even sure if you're just being told something.

Watching through these and can't help noticing the amount of not so old vehicles needing clutch replacement, do they not last very long on newer vehicles or is it the fault of the owners that leads to early failure? 🤔
Hello I wonder if you can help me I am not in your area but I am struggling to find out if my Peugeot partner has a dmf or smf as I just had the clutch replaced and the vehicle is making all sorts of rattling sounds and oscillating when under load which feels to me like a failing dmf but no one can confirm. It is the same as the van in this video
It was not the clutch was just slipping. Now that it’s gripping about a month later it’s now making clattering sounds when clutch engaged at idle when depressed it is silent

Thanks for sub and feedback., I don’t seem to get hardly any Merc.. my take on that is almost all of them are autos which comes with lots of modular issues rather than wear and tear on parts.
Does your muscles ever get sore from doing this work on the ground? And do you do all makes and models of vehicles or just stay with a particular type of car?
Sometimes little muscle pain.. but I look after myself on a professional level also. Chiropractic., sport muscle massage, very good diet. Good minerals and supplements.. Otherwise there’ll be injuries. And lots of rest Certain cars 🚗 don’t really do them purely because they annoy me😁.. most Fiats. Alfa Romeo ., some Audis.
I love your videos from a red seal tech in Canada. Do you ever do rear main seals by customer request ? Just curious I know you're a clutch only service typically.

I’ll reply with a slight bit of trade history. 3 years Tech college.. 3 years in a Land Rover academy specialising in Diesel engine and transmission. One thing I’ve learned is that rubber doesn’t perish in oil. If a rear main seal leaks that means there’s free play in the Crank bearing. Replacing the seal will temporarily mask the problem. For me to personally replace a rear main seal I’d have to drop the sump and replace all the crank bearings. Both big end and main then the job would be done correctly. Otherwise I wouldn’t take on the job.
Great work you are doing ! There are cases where rear main seal might end up leaking even nothing is wrong with bearings. Reasons for damaged oil seal might be: engine was running with oil level too high (that can cause blow by damage), engine running with oil level too low (not enough lubrication and rubber hardens). Faulty seal straight from factory. Engine overheating at some stage can also affect seals so they age prematurely, etc. Yes, I agree with you, seals do not perish in oil. There is always some other reason for leak.

I work for myself now, have done for 8 year, always busy, do most clutches, timing belts ect, I find people want stuff fixed for nothing, they don't understand the graft involved.
I used to do two .. but value my freedom of time more now .. just one a day is enough for me personally … Hope you keep moving forward as well. Much respect to you too ..

Usually concentric cylinder failures or dual mass in my experience, very rarely a worn clutch.
Release bearings too. Mine is going at just over 100k. Urban driving hasn't helped, having the clutch down ready for right turn gaps

They don’t come with a DMF. was it doing the same thing before clutch got replaced .. you have to be specific.
