What is the sales tax where you live now vs Huntington Beach?

Sales tax is higher here than in CA, I believe Huntington beach is around 8% and here it's almost 10% AND theres an additional liquor tax

@@MrJockoDundee There is no state income tax here in TN. You keep on average about 8-10% more of your income :) Definitely a plus!

@@MrJockoDundee , back in 1999 the democrat-controlled legislature in TN tried to impose an income tax. We were able to defeat that measure and once it was defeated, the control of the legislature flipped from democrat to republican. That was huge because Tennessee had been HEAVILY controlled by democrats since the Civil War. Since the democrats income tax push in 1999 and were defeated, Tennessee has been controlled by republicans ever since. Last I heard, Tennessee is running a budget surplus between $2 billion and $3 billion.

My wife and I are planning leaving California. Leaving family and friends and our church behind is daunting, but what I find myself thinking about the most is leaving what makes the West great -- the Sierra Nevada, the Rockies, red rock country in Utah, etc. I feel like I will always be drawn back to that in my mind.

native Tennessean here begging and pleading with blue state refugees to vote in a way that keeps government power limited.
Government is necessary, but limited government is even MORE necessary. If you are thinking about moving here from a blue state and you currently vote blue, please just stay in your current blue state.

Thank you so much for these videos. It's really hard to find videos of southern Californians that have made that move. Me, my husband, and six-year old daughter live in Huntington Beach. We are OVER California and sad to see our beach town change for the worse. We are looking for a more wholesome conservative place to raise our daughter. I have so many questions for you and am wondering if you have an email address I could email you my questions. Thank you so much and I appreciate your help!

Love the video, I know im going to move from California, just don't know when.
Really stuck in between Tennessee and Florida because of politics and raising kids in liberal cities isn't the best.
    Tough decisions. Great video though.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Tennessee and Florida are both great options in terms a change in political climate. They are very different though, it just depends what you are looking for. My husband and I wanted that "country" life and slower pace along with the southern hospitality. Florida has a lot to offer and is close to the beach! You will have to come out and visit both and just see what feels right for you. You will know once you're there. That's how we both felt :)

Hi Sam, I rewatched this video to get some pointers on relocating and moving to TN. It would be great to hear more about which towns/areas are rural and which are more suburban and close to all the amenities and also churches. We are Catholic and want to live in a neighborhood fairly close to a good church too. Thank you for this video, you and your husband make a cute couple😊

Hi Laura- I apologize for late response as I was away on vacation. That's a great idea. I've come to realize "rural" has a different meaning here than it does coming from California so it would be good information. Also a good "driving tour" too! Thank you for the suggestion!

Hi Chris, I'm glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful. Yes, I have no problem sharing- I live in Old Hickory, TN. I would also look into Hermitage as well. They are building a 55+ community with lots of amenities in Hermitage that's close to shops, the highway and walking/baiking trails called Parkhaven. If that's something that interest you. Let me know if you need anything or any more guidance! Email: SSMillerRealEstate@gmail.com, phone: 562-508-3076

Hi Christine, so sorry I missed your comment! I miss being close to the beach- it's so therapeutic. I also miss the weather, not gonna lie. I do like that the seasons change here, but you definitely can't sit outside and enjoy fresh air all year like you can on the coast in CA. I also miss good food! Although I know Nashville has never claimed to be a "foodie" destination, I took for granted the variety and great food we had in CA.

many blue state refugees have landed at Calvary Bible Church in Joelton TN, and a lot of those came here from Southern Cal where they attended John MacArthur's Grace Community Church. Churches are plenty in Tennessee but most of them are shallow in theology and seem to be more in the entertainment business. You'll be best served to find a church with expository preaching.

@@kelleymcclain7380 We've experienced the same thing in California over the past 35+ years. I understand your frustrations. What part of Tennessee are you in? And where would you go if not there? I'm exploring options for leaving California for a more conservative area; I don't want to be around extreme liberals anymore (aka Californians) and no state income tax is a plus. (I grew up in the midwest.) I agree with you that the insane prices in Tennessee are not a good thing but prices will be coming down soon with this inflation and recession.
(Look at Jackson, Wyoming--another state with no income tax. The housing is so out of reach for all but the extremely wealthy that the workers needed there can't afford it.)
