I think he was already parted from AVM production team long back!..., only his younger brother Saravanan family produced Sivaji movie...
What he means is use them sparingly. Currently we are too dependent on actresses from North.

When Minsaru Kannavu was taken AVM was whitewashed with debt and chance of revival was less. Hence it was directed by Rajiv Menon I guess if I am not wrong so they went for Kajol at that time when she was at peak. Obviously as AVM didn't have option but to say yes for directors call. Same happened during Sivaji the Boss movie. Shreyas was koopae in acting but she was casted. Shankar and Maniratnam always go for North Indian ladies just for their skin colour.

Dilip Kumar's performance will be natural and Tamil actors used to exaggerate. We like and respect Tamil Actors but you make Hindi actors as nobody. Why did AVM pay Rs 50000 (a huge amount in that time) just for discussion of a movie (which was not made) to Dilip Kumar if he was not the best. Kamal Hassan says he considers Sivaji and Dilip Kumar as the best - Amitabh, Shah rukh, Ameer Khan, Salman Khan - all the super stars say they learned from Dilip Kumar.. Dilip Kumar acted around 60 films - and 50 of them celebrated jubilees. No other actors have such record
We love Sivaji, Kamala Hassan.. but must agree that we loved exaggerated performances. But respect others too..

Because of large market they made profit...dilipkumar is good actor among hindi actors but he is simply nothing before versatile sivaji and dynamic MGR.

@@raju1950 I have grown watching Sivaji and MGR films - I consider Sivaji's Uthama Puthiran as the best ( watched more than 25 times- ). Thillana Moganambal was another one. Andha Naal and Puthiya Paravai performances were excellent - but Most of the other films he was over acting. MGR - liked his persona - but he was never considered as an actor. Dilip Kumar created method acting in 1940s.. Each and every movie he gave different dimensions. His best, considered by all greats like Amitab, Amir, Kamala Hassan and everyone including me was Ganga Jamuna(watch Iru dhuruvam you would see the difference). Just watch it. Devdas- his death scene - you could see death on his face - without over acting- Mughale Azam, Deedar, Mela, Kohinoor, Footpath. Shakthi, Vidhata all are different and . similarly Aaj purani rahon me in Aadmi and Satti suttathada in Aalya mani you would know the difference. If you like theaterical and loud performances - Sivaji is best. But if you like natural and realistic acting then Dilip Kumar is the answer which was even acknowledged by Kamala Hassan, Mamooty, naseeruddin Shah, and other greats. Nowadays even in Tamil films the actors try to emulate natural acting only
