canon sl2 or sony a5100 or panasonic gx85
ParodyRecords VEVO I think if you are already considering the SL2 and GX85 go for those over the 5100. The GX85 and SL2 are definitely more value for money. Its just a matter of which system you would prefer, whether it be a compact one or slightly bigger. What are your uses for the camera?

ParodyRecords VEVO The GX85 is pretty flexible with its video and photo capabilities. On the flipside the SL2 uses Canons amazing lenses.

After having used this camera could you give me some advice; I'm an intermediate level cinematographer; I specialise in drone footage but I want to broaden my horizons in order to produce more content! This little camera is what I was looking at investing in to carry about with me to shoot video etc, do you think the quality of it is good enough? (If not what do you recommend?)
I think the quality is adequate enough if you're doing vlog style content. If you're getting into doing more cinematic video work, I'd recommend having a look at the 80D or the Panasonic G85.
dont the canon 80D and the 200D share the same 24Mp Sensor?
It does, but the 80d has a lot more AF points(45), so getting what you want to be in focus will be a ton easier.
80D however has the old DIGIC 6 processor which makes its lowlight capability not as good. however, you mentioned AF points. with video these only matter if there is a subject you want to track like a face or birds etc; general focus doesn't apply that'll be just as good on both cameras.
newbie here. does the 45 af points help in video? was considering the 80d for higher bitrate than 200d bt couldnt justify the price comparison my original plan was Lumix g85 4k but not convinced by the autofocus. dual pixel af is still superb.

The 200D will definitely be enough for you to make good quality video. The Sony a6300 is great but the price jump is a bit high. So it's up to you. Both cameras are great!
