I have to agree...the world is so full of enough negativity and doesn’t need any more. It doesn’t cost anything to be kind and build one another up with positive encouragement. I love watching you paint. I learn so much. Honestly I find your voice, especially your accent to be so relaxing and enjoyable to listen to. This painting is looking amazing! I really can’t wait to see part 2. It’s almost 4 in the morning here and I’ve been awake since midnight watching your videos fighting against the urge to paint because I can’t see straight right now lol and the level of pain that’s keeping me awake tonight or in this case this morning lol. One thing is true, once I get my pain down I will be at my easel, painting again 😁 Thank you for your videos and being a kind and sharing person. I appreciate you
You are, I dare say, the king of Colourmixing !. I guess each painter has favourite colours but thanks your tutorials you convinced me to add « cramoisi « and phtalo blue on my palett. Fantastic ! tkank you so much for your lessons, advice and lovely irish accent
Hi Stephen that is a really beautiful sky I think this painting is going to turn out fantastic I hope you have one of your frames ready. Cant wait for part two !!!!!.
Stephen this is absolutely gorgeous! I love the sky, so full of vibrancy, colour, and energy! I know this is going to be a masterpiece and I can hardly wait for part two. Before I forget, I want to thank you for sending me the stubby brushes. I do like these little stubby brushes and I certainly recommend them to all your followers. I used them for the first time on my last painting and I feel they gave me more control.
You often refer to not wanting green in your skies. I wonder why because in Scotland there is quite often green in the skies as it’s getting towards dusk and looks very nice.
11:30 You are describing the age old principle of 'Fat over Lean', your first coats are 'Lean'. Thank you for the Tutorial I found it 'inspiring'. I still find a white canvas at the start of a painting 'intimidating' and have real trouble 'getting started' :-)
Thank you my friend.. its a real pleasure.. white canvases can be intimidating alright.. how about putting a very light tint over it first. Like a thin sienna perhaps or Naples yellow..
I hgave done a little bit of oil painting, not too great at it at the moment, but i haave learned alot just by watching you, especially with this tutorial! Living in the far North of Scotland we have some spectacular sunsets so i will try some of the techniques you have shown here.
A very good idea to wet the canvas with that mix of turps and linseed oil as a basis of the painting! Some Americans using the so called Magic White or similar for the same reason. I love your colours.
I got to say I love your set up showing the picture and your pallet genius way to teach would like to someday paint my own pictures I take But I have trouble with color mixing and tone variations from beginning to end
All art is in the eye of the beholder...so basically there is no bad art. I have been painting for 40+yrs, and not every painting of mine gets my approval😂..
Very 'detailed' explanations and a great tutorial, however, for 'visual learners' and those with 'less time'... Jump to 8:30, this is the first time paint is actually applied onto the canvas :-)
I'm a really good artist (over 20 years) but it was all on paper and now digital.. but I have recently had offers from galleries and individuals for my colour expressionist stuff as large oils. The thing is I know hardly anything about oils :) so, youtube hehe! I enjoyed this and it seems straightforward. But I fear ill make a bunch of rooky mistakes right? I'm having a hard time even knowing what paints etc to get...
Yes it can be tricky with oils. It takes a lot of practice but you will get there. Not to worry.. check out my tutorials. You will find lots there to keep you busy..thank you for watching.
I like how you show the picture you're going by.
