Bill: I started painting because of you. Landscapes only distantly reminiscent of Monet’s style. It is now thirty years… still learning . I select ever more difficult settings and learn the hard way. Painting has become my passion. I get offers and refuse them. My enjoyment and pain are reward enough. Thank you

Not my type of medium and style, topic and emotion, but i like personality of Mr. Alexander. And, of course, the artwork itself is quite nice, nonetheless.
Reminds me of William Turner, the unmatched English master of expressionistic light, color, atmosphere... sublime and ethereal.
I live in a small coastal town and i sailed into many sunsets over decades. Ones that had most impact were those when sea was so calm and smooth that it felt like sailing on an oil.
Mr. Alexander has captured that exact ambient with nothing but a few smudges.
    Truly an artist. Hats off.

I watched his TV shows when I was a young mother and having always had an interest in art, he ignited that flame higher in me. He made me believe I could do it too. One Sat in Winters, CA I took a demo class that Bill was presenting. It was such a thrill to be in this gentle man's presence. I saw one of his students take Bill's originality and use it as his own. That was one of the most cruel things I've ever witnessed in my life. It takes so many years of study to develop your unique ability as an artist. You can't get it in 4 years of college. It broke my heart to even see Bill's "happy" sayings and style, used by another as if they were his ideas. I can't imagine how awful that must have been for Bill who was not a young man any longer. Over the years I have ended many conversations when the name of this other artist came up in conversation. I became a commissioned artist and have retired. Now I'm able to paint digitally but no longer with mediums. I can make a stroke and instantly remove and do it over and over to get it right. My hands aren't steady enough for real paint. I miss Bill and I loved him. I think I had a crush on him, he was so kind. I'm a year late for this April video. Is it online anywhere? Thank you so for honoring this wonderful man.

So nice that you actually met and spent time with Bill. After studying his videos and learning to paint for myself using his style to start and then making my own twists I've become fairly proficient.. I've read all I can find on Bill and the story of that other unnamed student. I whole heartedly agree with your sentiments. If only the people that follow "him" knew the real truth and how it looks to have broken Bill's heart.. his sayings, his style, his pallette knife, his magic white.. his pallette. All of it.. plagiarized/stolen. I am fortunate enough to have one of Bill's larger paintings.. of wine jugs and candles that I purchased years ago. His skill as an artist isn't really evident in these shorter TV videos, if people could only see his real works, the ones he did for himself. The attention to detail, his artist's eye! Bill is a true artist and as you said a kind man.. so evident if you listen to him. Thank you for sharing your story.

When I first started watching his videos here on TH-cam, I could start them and fall asleep. Time went by, and advertisements were added to the beginning. Fair enough. NOW there are commercial breaks every 5 minutes!…and to make matters worse, THEYRE LOUDER THAN THE VIDEO! I understand that people need to make money and drive revenue, BUT COME ON! Can’t we limit the ads to the beginning and end of videos so we can enjoy the main content WITHOUT having to pay for ANOTHER service???

His interpretation of these things was influenced by Impressionism, as was my grandmother who was trained in Paris under the impressionist artists.
