I finally got the hang of the strumming bit, 4 days trying after work and I've now got it and just did a very slow version of the whole song ❤ I'm so flipping happy ❤❤❤
I’ve been looking for a song to play with my little brother. And you giving the “if you have small hands, play it like this” help was awesome. Thank you for your positive energy and truly informative teaching style. This helped me a lot
Enjoy your lessons....your explanations are easy to understand. I am 83...jose from san antonio...God bless you for imparting your knowledge for us senior students...thank you
I love your song choices, and I am so thankful you break down lessons like these .. making it easier to understand all the different techniques and strumming patterns used. You're my favorite "go-to" instructor on TH-cam 🙌🥰!
Lauren since I knew about you at about 60 k subscribers. Wow 260 thousand. You made it kiddo. I always had faith that you would be great success Congratulations. The old guy can still spot talent. It's long way to the top in Rock and roll Paul
This is the most logical approach I've seen so far. I totally agree with choosing chords that bring out the mood of the song even though its technically a mixture of several guitars
You are an absolutely amazing teacher. I love that you build on the progression step by step until we're playing the full thing. Thank you for this video. And nice shirt!
I can't wait to try this. I'm glad I found your page. Your lessons are great and it's nice to see a woman teaching also since most of the teachers here are male. I learned Puff the magic dragon last week. This will be my new one if I can figure out how to sing with that strumming pattern. Not the easiest song to sing to for sure.
Thank u for this! The only thing I really can't do is the number thing, hate numbers with a passion lol. But when u demonstrate, makes sense. Many years ago as a kid, wish I would have had someone like u to show me. I did pick up from others, but luv ur way of teaching!! Much respect to u. U have a new suscriber!
Awesome! I may implement the alternating my pick between my Thumb-Index if hybrid picking w/my fingers. To Thumb-Middle finger for a lighter flow strumming I’m practicing using my pick more, to be versatile. I fingerpick way too much.
Thank you. Great lesson! The way you explained the strum pattern helped a lot! I can play the chords if I see them being played or written in tab. Thanks again. Liked and subscribed!
I am truly grateful for the strumming patterns you provide and the patience with which you teach and explain the techniques. Is there any chance you could provide a tutorial for "Kiss Me" by Six Pence None The Richer? Merci beaucoup!!
Hi, Lauren . As ever , a great lesson . Because of my rubbish wrist joints , I have now taken to playing on a Spanish / Classical guitar as it seems to have a lower finger action which allows me to spend more time playing . Maybe I should trade in some of my steel strung guitars for one with a better action . Thanks again for being such a patient teacher . lol
Such a great strumming breakdown. Thank you so much for this. Will definitely be checking out your other lessons now. Your teaching style clicked with my learning style.
Hi Lauren when I finger pick my thumb likes to flare around when it’s not busy. Do you have any suggestions how I can practice to develop a nice quiet thumb like yours thanks
So after the d chord picking, is it the a6/a strumming times 4, then g, then the d/a6-a, cadd9,g progression times 2? Sorry I'm slow at this. Hopefully you understand.
I am so frustrated not seeing people say what key they have their guitar tuned to. IS my guitar out of tune or am i just fuckin playing it wrong. TELLL MEEEEEEE
@@LaurenBateman Sob. what the hell is wrong w my guitar. Ive got pretty damn good pitch, nd i use a tuner too, but for some reason my guitar constsntly sounds out of tune. Its old as hell, maybe the neck is more bendy straw than board at this point. Thanks for your help ♡
@@henyo5409you’re intonation is likely bad because your bridge isn’t placed correctly, depending on what kind of guitar you have. Seek out your local music store (preferably not Guitar Center) and let them take a look at it before you take it upon yourself to make any adjustments to your bridge or your truss rod.

Due to copyright issues, I don't do full playthroughs or I risk getting my videos blocked.

Hi Anthony, yes. Check out Here I Am on iTunes or Spotify.
Thanks Lauren, great tutorial! Love the song and going to destroy my fingers until I can play it!
You can do it! ROCK ON!!!
You should do a full playthrough of the song
If I do full playthroughs now, I usually give the unlisted video links to members of my private community.

Hi Ron, I go over the basics of Fingerpicking in my 7 Level course and I do have a full fingerpocking program.
If you email my team at info@laurenbateman.com, they can help
Do you have a Sixpence none the richer-kiss me tutorial??
Thank you, for the recommendation. I get lots of song requests so I cannot guarantee that I will get to it, but I will definitely add it to my list.
Make me 😊 Happy too

Glad to know!
So after the d chord picking, is it the a6/a strumming times 4, then g, then the d/a6-a, cadd9,g progression times 2? Sorry I'm slow at this. Hopefully you understand.

Unless stated otherwise, it is in standard tuning.

maybe ur string is rusty
