    I finally cued in on your channel yesterday while watching Randys. I used to have a neighbor who did this work in his garage and I really gained an appreciation for what you do. There is sooo much to know that people take for granted. Thanks for sharing.

    I like watching any craftsman doing his work, you are a craftsman in the finest sense of the word. It is obvious you really enjoy what you do and do it with pride, keep it up and even though I know I won't ever do any of it watching someone who does it well is much more enjoyable than watching some silly "reality show" about something that doesn't work.

    I worked in body shops and later at Geico Insurance from 1976 to 1998 and like the other guys here I like watching you work. It reminds me of my days in the shop. Nothing the smell of grease and oil and paint fumes and filler in the morning! I loved it! I miss those days. The best part was when my customers came to get their car and seeing the smiles on their faces and them thanking me and the shop for doing a great job.
    Yeah, I really do miss those days.

    I like to see how you work the metal back. To many of these flippers just do what they have to just to make parts fit such as elongate holes, shim, etc.. The poor sap who buys the vehicle is driving a death trap if involved in another accident. Good work...

    • @helivesonforever
      @helivesonforever 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not necessarily, the frame is what provides all the strength. The core support really doesn't which is why so many manufacturers use a bolt in one. Some are even entirely plastic.

    • @rickb8808
      @rickb8808 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@helivesonforever True, but a kid restoring a Mustang on another channel had a bent frame rail that the damage was hidden behind the reservoirs and he elongated the holes on the core support and fender to make the parts fit without repairing the frame. Also saw it on a Chevy truck. To many who don't know what their doing buy these salvage vehicles and just make them look pretty without proper repairs. aka - "death traps". I even watched a guy literally bondo a rear section on a BMW instead of straightening it until it looked fixed. Even had holes in the metal.

    • @helivesonforever
      @helivesonforever 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rickb8808 Yeah body filler on a frame is ridiculous. I personally don't take the time to get my core supports entirely perfect on the cars I fix, but I get pretty damn close. The only way to get it 100% perfect is to cut them out and weld new metal in. I'll do that on a structural component but not a radiator support. I never have alignment issues and I always throw some paint over any bare metal to prevent rusting. A lot depends on the vehicle I'm going at as well. I'll do my best work on a 3 year old car but might take it a little easier on a 10 year old car with close to 200k miles on it. I'd never sell anything I wouldn't personally drive myself either.

  • @Noah_Woodard
    @Noah_Woodard 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    First off I wanna say it’s nice to see one of these cars put back together right! I’ve been hardcore in mustangs since I was about 14 and owned a ton, and you wouldn’t believe the number of them that are hacked together. So major props for doing it right! I would suggest painting the whole core support or as much as you can, shouldn’t be much more work and will definitely show in the end. Unfortunately, like someone else has said, that hood is off a 99/04 car, and while it will bolt up it won’t fit right in the front, so I would look for one off a 94-98 car. Other than that, great job man, keep it up!

    • @Noah_Woodard
      @Noah_Woodard 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t remember where you guys said you were located at, but I do have the correct hood for that car that I would swap you for the one you have, it is white though. I’m in Ohio.

      Ya that was an old hood I had sitting behind the shop for years. Didn’t realize it was different until everyone pointed it out. I thought I was going to save a few bucks. Should have known I wouldn’t be that lucky 😆.

    Great job, some of those wrinkles across the top, get a heavy duty C - clamp, block the top and bottom with a few pieces of metal and squeeze the wrinkle out, then finish with body hammer. Make a good chisel out of rebar. Yes what your doing is interesting.

  • @Uneedhelp91
    @Uneedhelp91 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Weird Beard awesome video! Just one point of constructive criticism:
    When you edit the video, try doing a time lapse for the work, going back to normal speed when you need to explain something. If you need to explain something during the video you can also do a voice over after you get the video done, this will make the transformation look quite good. This will also help cut the time of the video down to a about 15-20min which will help retain viewer retention.
    Thank you for making these videos for us! Keep up the good work!

    Got some skills there with the old hammer there. Suprised that you are going to save the fenders, would love to see video on that as well.
    Curious if you were actually at a body shop doing work, would it be cheaper to just cut out/replace the core support and replace the fenders??? I know time is $$$$ in a shop environment, sometimes its cheaper to replace parts because the amount of labor needed to fix something would be more than the new part and labor to remove/install.
