    Before I start restoring my vintage Land Speeder, I thought it would be interesting to compare it against a 1995 POTF2 version.

    Always found it amazing how potf2 used a majority of the original moulds. No need to change what isn’t broken. The A wing in the potf2 is a great example of a cheaper alternative.

    Dean, I've just refreshed my memory on these Land Speeder's and I can confirm that your POTF2 Land Speeder is unbroken, as there is no peg on the back of the right seat. It might also be of interest to you, that the " New Hope " Land Speeder looks like the POTF2 Speeder and has the sleek windshield, but has the same black gear lever and seats, as the vintage Land Speeder.

    My favourite Star Wars G1 vehicle was the Landspeeder. I got one for my birthday back in the early 80's. The 'car' of Star Wars.

    From a certain point of view I liked the 90's land speeder. Recently I've sold a boxed one. I am selling all SW toys from the 90's and further on. I had the intention to sell my 90's toys as themes, so land speeder with luke, obi, R2, 3PO and a couple of sandtroopers, carded, of course. So there is still a lot to sell, but it takes patience and care to sell them for the right price. I am looking forward combining these two speeders, would be fun. Cheers Dean!

    The landspeeder was one of the first vehicles that I received during my childhood. I never put on the stickers, nor did I keep the box. I regret that now, but I still have my original toy. My 5-yr-old son has the 1995 version that you compared. He really enjoys playing with that. That's probably mentioned in previous comments, the Hasbro figures have smaller foot holes, which is a real downer if you plan to integrate them into any of the playsets. My son wanted me to drill out the holes in his Hasbro figures, so they could stand on the back side of the trays of his collector case. I liked the idea so well, that I did that to all of my figures, where it was possible (the Bespin Leia feet are pretty small) Other than putting the newer figures on display stands, Hasbro really has not produced any reasonable playsets for the purpose of standing up the figures. Now you need to get the Sonic landspeeder, if you do not already have one. That is quite an ingenious piece of science for the time period - using sound to steer the vehicle.

    Hi Dean, interesting comparison. The only POTF2 vehicle I have is a blue TIE fighter which belongs to my little brother, who's 16 years younger than me. They did make some nice tweaks to the old moulds. There is a proper "koolshade" texture on the wings instead of the huge stickers the old ones had. It still has the ejecting wings, but they made the wing latches stronger and the springs a tad weaker, so they are less likely to break than the originals (I took it apart for comparison when I restored my OG Vader's TIE). They did away with the light and sound features though, which was probably a blessing for parents!

    • @AllThings80s

      LOL. Those laser "sounds" from the '70s and '80s are absolutely terrible and I don't blame my parents for not buying me more batteries.

    Great video Dean, I’m with you in mixing and matching vehicles. I’ve just got a POTF2 Dewback with Trooper and a A-Wing for about £30 altogether when the original vintage versions would’ve been a combined cost of around £200-300 so buying the 90s equivalent does has its advantages.

    • @AllThings80s

      I been thinking the about this lately...as I don't have any vintage vehicles to go with my vintage Star Wars...but as i am on a budget and the vintage line is quote pricey theses days...I'm heavily leaning on getting this....as well as some others...I kinda consider it l like 10 years after the last run so just an upgrade since it is kenner

    Great video, Dean.
    And if you're happy to make a hybrid out of the two, by swapping the internal spring, seats, gear lever and windshield, then I say go for it.
    Personally, I like the look of the POTF2 Land Speeder and would just keep that one, especially because it has that " floating " effect, that looks SO good.

    • @AllThings80s
      @AllThings80s  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I'm probably leaning towards keeping the POTF2 version intact because it look really cool and functions properly. I may try casting a resin part to fix the '78's gear level.
