  • Sherwali Kothi Akhara is the oldest Akhara in Varanasi. Originally owned by a Pehalwan, the akhara is still a private Akhara not opened to the public. Luckily my friend Pratyay Singh was with me. These Jori clubs are the most difficult clubs I've ever attempted to swing.

I call this interactive history. In Iceland there are some stones that fisherman would pick up the heaviest one being 154 Kg then you can call yourself full strength. There is a certain feel the stones give off knowing that others have lifted it before you, and others will lift it after you. I only got to half sterker which is 100 kg. These Jori have those vibes.

I have recently seen this added to my gym equipment.
It is a public gym and people who do a good 150 lbs on the bench also find this tough. Of course, with practice, they will get it but all agree that it is one of the complete exercises. A classic

@@TheFlowingDutchman Initially I figured its not possible to do them, but these are neither Symmetric nor Asymmetric, but they are off symmetric.
There may be a way for you guys to TRAIN towards these. Have you guys ever tried swinging Non/ Off Pair Joris together? Say take a 4 & 6 of different lengths and do it together - switch and try. How does/ would it affect overall system motion and feel? How weird / off balance does body system feel / adapt to the dynamics?
Take them gradually upto 8 and 10, non nailed.
Their length and nails and the off balance physics are new VARIANTS that the bodies Neuro Muscular system is unable to tack altogether add to it NAIL DAMAGE Panic.
You and Pratyay have access to lots of Joris - Just do off balance practise with heavier and longer.. ones and share How that affects overall System.
Given that the body drives from the Center, this unbalanced CENTRIFUGAL & CENTRIPETAL forces would be interesting for the NM system to encounter.

Just because you have to give extra energy for the joris as they are very long and narrow at bottom and heavy at ends the centre of mass is moving a very long curve which means more and more change in potential energy with too much of angular momentum which gives tension on your wrist due to centripetal force and that's the reason why you cannot balance them and a factor also is that it has nails and you cannot balance it on your shoulders . When the jori comes at the bottom most point the potential energy converted into kinetic energy gives a sudden increase in angular velocity and tension on the wrists and shoulders which deviates you . So just try swinging those joris by swinging with low angular velocity.

U need wrist power to lift and swing , do it with separate hands like u swing a cricket bat then u can do with both hands.
U should try with heavy rod in length
It doesn't happen in one try
