I was a child and I loved this funny song, but I am an Austrian and I didn't understand English, so I thought this song is about a Jodel-Lady. Probably a man felt in love with a Jodel-Lady. 😁 However, I still love this song today.
Great song originally sung on the Smother's Brother's comedy hour when Esther happened to be on the show. It was a great hit for her! Plus she could not be more gorgeous!
he is such a sweetheart. Absolutely not the guy you would kick off your bedside..And still is when you look him up..well apart from the bedside thing. We all do not get younger..😍
With the way she moves, the way he barely moves his mouth, and their trading off, I expect they tried to make their performance appear to be a ventriloquism act.
She even sings it in her nowadays concerts! But I think in 1970 she really didn't want to sing it anymore, that's why she looked a bit annoyed in the beginning of this performance.
@@djmips He was a writer on a comedy show. It is a comedy song with comedy lyrics. But hey- nothing is stopping you doing it in a dull way and looking like you are in a bad mood, but perhaps one day you will notice that the Ofarim version which was done in a comedy style sold millions of copies and was No1 all over the world. No one bought his crap version of it.
Fabulous! Almost forgot life used to be a bit of fun occasionally.
I had no idea that Williams could be so comical. Wunderbar!
The prettiest Esther video, And her at her prettiest , Her eyes take you away from it all, A rare talent Xx
I love your eyes
That's very nice
I never expected her to look like that. A song from my childhood. I was 10 when this came out.
she is gorgeous

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I am Swiss and probably same generation. As a child I thought exactly the same: strange way of yodeling 😂
Absolutely brilliant a pair of unsung heroes.
Splendid duo
Abi missing. Wonderful though.
Супер!!!
I was just 5 years old when I first heard this song.

This is fantastic!! Where is it taken from?
She was cute and wacky.
The most inane song, like “Winchester Cathedral.” And this version is slowed down.
They were written to be retro and that is the charm of both.
I liked Abi better, but don’t think she ever loved to sing this song

Ingeborg Helmer Mason Williams wrote the song, for what it's worth...
conmad24 I actually think she's just acting somewhat aloof as part of her character in the song.
God Lord! I can see the enthusiasm in her face lol. Lovely singing though.
From the thumbnail I thought this was a ventriloquist act.
she looks like she's over it
They look like they can't stand each other.
Well, this was the year they divorced.
?? They were never married! It's not Abi!?
Yeah! This is Esther dueting with MASON WILLIAMS, the writer of the song. NOT with her ex husband abi!
When people could sing and play instruments.
she is great but it is meant to be a silly jokey song - no one told him!
He wrote it so he can sing it how he pleases.
