I remember going to see them in 1971 at The Castle pub in Tooting. I was already a big fan and had their debut album. Anyway before the gig, some of them were having a few drinks at the bar and I spoke briefly to them before they made their way towards the stage.I followed them and to my surprise , found myself almost on the stage with them. In those days I had an impressive afro and people just assumed I was with the band. I sat right at the front and enjoyed the performance. About 30 years later, they performed at my son's school fair In Wimbledon and though there had been a number of personnel changes by then, their joyous and infectious vibe remained and they were just as amazing
I have loved Osibisa's music since the late 60s. I wish someone could improve the quality of the picture of these great music videos and others before they are lost forever.
I Was born in 1979 and thanks to my daddy OSIBISA HEADS was my first record that I've ever listened on my life !!!! And then...I started to study the guitar...amazing band !!!
All of my music was STOLEN BY MOVERS WHO LOOK LIKE ME when i returned to Phila . My MOTHER WAS A HOWARD SUM CUM LAUD MUSIC and I am so fortunate to have grown UP with my Father's JAZZ...MOM'S ECLECTIC MUSIC and my Hugh Masekela, Nina, OSIBISA ,Curtis Mayfield ,Maze , and Bob Marley ,Fela, Stevie Wonder and Miles and Whitney ...Jonathan Butler and Donnny Hathaway and SO MANY OTHERS.Share this WITH Our Children IN these conflicting times and let us OWN IT SPIRITUALLY AND MONETARILY...WOYAYA🎼
I loved this band! I saw them for the first time as the opening band for a 3-Dog Night concert at the Forum in Los Angeles. What a wonderful night! Then saw them again at a club in San Francisco! Wish I could have seen them many more times!
Yeah! My only source of music was my dad's transistor radio playing from BBC, DW, VOA and Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (VoK) and most of Osibisa songs were used as signature tunes for many KBC programmes and when we were lucky to see tv they would come on URTNA (Union of Radio and Television Network in Africa. Bought my first cassettes in 1984 at Assanands music shop on Moi avenue in Nairobi and would walk with them to friends' place and request to play there. This music was not popular with many young people. I later used them in my theatre productions as back or as performances. Good ol days indeed!
Yes It's right. They really Brings Back sweet memories from those Times, when I was a little younger. My first Memory from they was the Woyaya album. I often hear this record until the present.
I was a fan of Osibisa back i the seventies. It's nice see them on this concert. They are very good musicians and I admire how clever they are with their rythm. Maybe the best group with rythm I have heard
.......Almost the same order of songs as in their live album "Black Magic Night" july 19 1977, nice to know they still around....awesome band.....good memories..

Osibisa's music was my source of International African music when I was teenage. My favourite is Music "Music for Gong Gong" ,"Sunshine Day",
Wow! These guys are the best. It brings back memories of the good old days.
