Oh. Osibisa - at 60 my hairs stand while listening to their albums. Had the opportunity to watch them Live about 40 years ago. Sad that most of key musicians are no more. Osibisa is Osibisa. Can't imitate them. Great. Just great. My son also got interested in hearing Osibisa. Mac Tontoh, Solomon Amarafio, Teddy Osei, Daku Potato are the few names of that wonderful group.

I had this album back in college. It was awesome then and still is. Upper Michigan doesn't hear music like this enough. It's still hard to just listen and not get up and start dancing or just go bananas. Thank you.

Oui, c'est sûr. Mais pas mal de groupes de l'époque "résonnaient" entre eux plus ou moins fortement : War, Mandrill, The Funkees, The Meters (peut-être mon préféré) et parfois même Funkadelic (que j'adore également)...

I think album covers like this, were part of the appeal. The cover grabs your attention, you look at it for awhile, then flip it over to read the back and then you take it to the counter and ask if you can listen to some tracks before you buy it. The person behind the counter says, "Sure" and tells you to go to booth No.1, while he or she finds the vinyl and proceeds to put it on the turntable. In the meantime you sit on the stool provided and you wait with headphones on, while reading the names of each track. Then you hear the needle drop and finally you hear that familiar hiss and the music you're hearing for the first time. Remember that?

Wow, you lived in a good town.. In the town I grew up, they didn't adopt that policy till CD's started coming out.. With albums, though you could rent them, first (if they were in the rental section.. Or, if you were in good w/one of the owners or clerks, you could ask nicely if they could open something up to be put in the rental section) before buying.
