I've spent hours watching tutorial on this subject trying to get a better understanding of PI and even thou some of the big named U-tubers has been good, they all go over things too fast with little explanations for the beginner like me. I love the way you covered it with not a lot of rambling on, but explaining what we need to know while hitting all the main points. I now have a far better understanding of how to process images with PI. Thank you ever so much. Masking tool was my biggest hang up and you explained it in 2 minutes. Thanks again!

That’s brilliant. I’m really happy that it’s clear for you and thank you so much for taking the time to provide me with some lovely feedback. Good luck with your processing.

Very helpful video. I've been interested in this software but been a bit intimidated by it. You have cleared that up for me and just decided to purchase and go for it. I really enjoy your videos and have learned so much from you. Keep them coming! You're up there with Nico and Trevor on my list my friend!

Wow, Steve, thank you very much for that comment! I'll be printing that out and putting it on the wall for encouragement when doubt kicks in!!! Also, I'm glad for you that you've decided to get PixInsight, in my opinion it's definitely the right tool for the job. A bit like how pliers, or an adjustable spanner / wrench can undo a nut but a correctly sized spanner / wrench will always be much more effective. The thing that most people don't like is the UI is unlike any other software out there, however, that is quickly overcome and then you just have to understand all the settings. :D That does take a while and I only scratch the surface.

I will be amazed if newbies understand this.
Most sure way to go about such presentation is showing Pi operation as a pipeline. Attach pipeline as one file in the text below video and then start explaining it. Everyone will have your pipeline in front of them to follow you.
It is amazing how many PI tutorials out there; and people still ask how to operate PI. Reason is that pipeline is only way to learn it. I learned this way PI in 2 hours from an expert and transmitted my knowledge to many people using the same approach. In contrast, any attempt to learn PI via TH-cam tutorials were consistently fruitless.

Great video, very informative. I'm still using the trial version of Pixinsight so the timing of your tutorial is perfect. Pixinsight looks brilliant but is a bit daunting when you first look at it. Thanks for taking. the time to explain things in detail. Look forward to more tutorials.

I’m glad it helped. It’s definitely a tool that after you have a few tricks under your belt you’ll feel a lot happier with it. It will never outgrow your skills in processing too. I’m still learning new things after 18 months.

Thanks for the great video. You said you might share your process icons. Will you do that? Also, I noticed that when you opened Photometric Color Calibration, there were functions for plate solving among other items that are not included on the process window that I have? Has that process changed recently?

    • @astrojourneyuk
      @astrojourneyuk  ปีที่แล้ว

Oh yes I should do that. Hopefully tonight. I’ll link them in the description. The photometric calibration changed in the last update.

Would love a video from yourself on how to make the various colour masks, e.g. red mask or blue mask etc.

I need to just provide a link in the video to where I got them from. 🙈 I’ll try and dig them out because someone else made them.

@@astrojourneyuk I'd have preferred a video in your very easy to follow and understand style (and thank you) but would appreciate any assistance in this great hobby / pass time. My hobby is photography but I'm excited to expand my hobby in this direction.

I might do one tomorrow on my California Nebula image where I use these masks. How about that? :)

As a beginner, I found you video is great on how to work with PI step-by -step. However, when doing the BackgroundNeutralization, I found that some of my image was turned into pink instead of green. So, what is the problem? Light-pollution, flat frame, filter........., or anything else? Please help?

I came to see how you loaded lights darks etc then stacked, but you don't seem to have done that.

    • @astrojourneyuk

I can do a specific video for that if you want?
