Thank you for the fix and for not making this a long winded video. Didn't have a lot of pointless blather like many videos do, it was clear and concise. Much appreciated.
I could't sign in to Bentley Connect and the error prompt says 'unable to sign in. clock out of sync'. Our global IT department of a MNC spent 2 hours trying to fix it only to give up and said they will escalate to another technical department. Problem solved thanks to this video and google directing me to this video.
Thanks a lot....! And all those guys who can't fix their time through sync. Please disable any VPN or Proxy then try the method shown in this video. It'll definitely work.
No error message, says that I'm synced properly, but it's the wrong time. My time zone is set properly. I've changed it manually, then it always jumps back to the wrong time when it syncs again.
Hi there, I followed your instructions and still receiving the same error: "An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with time.windows.com. This operation occurred because the timeout period expired". I clicked the other servers and they didn't update either. What do you suggest?
Hi, i did follow your instructions but unfortunately it is nit working in my computer. It is still nit changing time. It also says that " You do not have permission to perform this task, please contact your computer administrator for help" what should i do?
I solved the problem with time.wimdows.com.1. Manually change the date to todays date.2. Go back into services right click Window Time and switch from manual to automatic.3. Go into Date and Time, Internet Time settings, change server to time.windows.com and press Update now. That worked for me.
Make sure your current time is not too far off from the real time (ie. days, maybe even hours). An error occurred for me until I manually changed the incorrect day and time to something close to the real time. I found out by trying to do a resync from the command prompt and it gave me an error with this as the reason.
I get an error after i click start for the windows time service... It says "Windows could not start Windows Time service on local computer. Error 1792: An attempt was made to logon, but the network logon service was not started." ?????
Im on windows 8 but I got just about as far as you did. I right clicked on Windows Time and left clicked properties but it wouldnt let be change manual to automatic. Please help
Hi, I changed as you said ,but date hasn't changed immediately ,do I need to restart? what may be the reason my pc date n day is not changing plz.. let me know.
mines workd but when i update the actual time is wrong like is 10 now but every time i try update or use different website to update shows me 7 idk why or how change it if its "automatic"
My problem is that when I try to synchronise time I get error message that I do not have permission to do this. Contact Administrator for help, even though I am logged on as Administrator. Further "Windows Time" does not appear in my list on Services. Lawrence
Lawrence Myers I have now managed to restore "Windows Time" to the list of services and to enable me to adjust the settings using the "W32tm" command. However, when I try to synchronise, I get a message that an error occurred, regardless of which source clock I use, although the log shows that a successful synchronisation took place, but the time is not corrected.
I tried this then it showed that im successfully sync but when i tried clicking the update the error occurs again... its like a temporary sync..... Tried everything for 5 hours straight and have been searching the internet and still stuck in this error....
@@razorryzen5580 yes after hours of searching for fix on web I finally found that changing cmos battery will fix it! But in mine case the cmos in my PC was recently changed so my last hope was to clean install Windows! Now all those problems are gone.......
yep... nope... I got an xp (which I recently rebuilt) and went with all the options available and it still shows "an error occurred .. blah blah.." (with 'windows' and 'nist'). tried with 'firewall off' .. no luck.. I posted a comment with Disqus and is showed that I posted it 17hrs ago.. NOT..
When the internet time service window says it was successfully synchronised at XX:XX:XX - it didn't/doesn't. Windows lies! The issue is with the ftp/ntp server not accepting my computer's handshake requests - either because of too many such requests at the same time or because of password protection/incompatibility, i don't know but it seems we all have the same issue - at least windows 7 users seem to. No-one on the net seems to acknowledge this or advise how to fix it ( that i can find and i have looked long and hard) and this includes the staff at Windows themselves.
Thanks Devon. Mine still doesn't work though. I get that "Windows could not start the windows Time Server on Local Computer." "Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified." Have you any tips for this? It used to work a long time ago.
Andreas Tasoulas Thanks for the reply but I've pretty well given up on solving this one as nothing seems to work - short of a total reload and I'm not in for that over such a small problem.
Thank You. My mom kept getting an SSL error from an older computer. So the button battery in it is probably dead. So when I reset the clock it goes back to being wrong. Thanks again!
Actually this is yet another Windows 7 glitch... The text may change like it worked, but the time is not really synchronized. If you push the button manually, it gives the same error. The method here would actually fix something, only if the service was really stopped for some reason. At the end, I downloaded a program from worldtimeserver to do the synchronization.
I'm an IT Professional, and a friend was telling me that he couldn't open any Browsers, and got this error message In all of my professional computing I have never had this happen this is to stupid!
on my PC, the date and time keeps resetting to march 2009 12 AM every few weeks or so. i've tried other things but nothing works. I just now tried this and hope it sticks. the window time service was already set on Automatic and on Start. so, i set it to Stop, then Start. retried the sync and it works. just hope the date/time doesn't reset to 2009 again. i'm running out of capacitors.
thanks for the video i hope this fixes my problem of my time changing ever so often. i thought about checking my services before but never got around to it
did that before also yet its not helping me out, i think its a virus or something or may be cmos battery . so am going to try cmos battery change and let you know
i have used automatic update before, about 4 - 5 months ago and it worked. after viewing this video i saw that, it was set to automatic already i don't care about it. but now its not working
Dude, my windows xp time startup was automatically already and I changed it to manual and it worked. If it was automatically change it to manual. I wish it help you guys
After countless hours of useless or incromprehensible websites and videos this one did the trick ... Thanks
Thanks for this, its been bugging me for over 1 year now - with your tutorial it took me 5 mins to fix!! Why did I not do this before!! ahhhrrrrr...
Thank you for the fix and for not making this a long winded video. Didn't have a lot of pointless blather like many videos do, it was clear and concise. Much appreciated.
Worked just right!
For those who are is getting error, please follow this video exactly as he did.

You are a legend. I tried so many things including playing with CMD and nothing worked, except this. Wasn't hard either!

Thanks it worked for me just now ! Its better than the troubleshooting given by hp website. You are awesome!
Hi,

Ahhhhh Thanks! This was driving me nuts.
Its still driving me nuts. The issue still not resolved
A tip: watch series at Flixzone. Been using it for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Zavier Garrett definitely, been watching on Flixzone for since december myself :)
@Zavier Garrett Definitely, I've been using flixzone for months myself :D
it was already set to automatic, i did what you said. nothing. it still gives me an error to update time. i even bought a new CMOS battery.
This did not work. My service for Windows Time was already started and automatic.
Thank you Despite The Vid is From 12 years ago it still helped me
Even if it's 2021 but this video helped me so much with my old pc , THANK YOU!
Dear when I start my computer .time and date behind plz send me answer how I can set this problem

i have problem in the services it doesn't show windows time
if the time is still wrong, try to change the server. Date and Time > Internet Time > Server (change to other servers until it is working correctly)

Dude my PC is freezing while updating date and time. Plz give a solution
Same bro, tell me if u have fixed
@@razorryzen5580 yes after hours of searching for fix on web I finally found that changing cmos battery will fix it! But in mine case the cmos in my PC was recently changed so my last hope was to clean install Windows! Now all those problems are gone.......
What software do you use to record your screen and is it free?
did you set your time zone?
Mine looks like it is working but is still 4 minutes out after your video mods.

I am not able to restart the service, it shows me error access denied although i am login with administrator account
What if it won't let you change it from mannuel
it doesn't fix the error when xp tries to sync with time.nist.gov
i can synchronize with time.windows.com but i can't sync with any other server

Thanks Devon. Mine still doesn't work though. I get that "Windows could not start the windows Time Server on Local Computer." "Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified."
Have you any tips for this? It used to work a long time ago.
Hope you found a solution to this. If not, it seems like a file missing from the windows registry.

didn't work out for me still getting the same error

This means the CMOS battery on your motherboard is dead, replace it.
