How nice to see a fine machine restored to its true beauty. So many out there think they can design a bike better than the maker and turn it into an ugly mess!
Bonjour. Vous avez fait un travail magnifique. Votre moto est superbe, vous pouvez être fier de vous ! Une perfection ! Comme on aimerait pouvoir en retrouver des neuves a l'identique ! Chapeau .
Preparing to tackle a sadly neglected '85 r80rt. The fairing removal & replacement appears to be impossible / terrifying ! Would you do it again? What manuals... if any... did you use ? Any recommended parts suppliers? Thanks!
I would do it again. The main concern is assembly one you get it all painted. I laid everything out on two sleeping bags. Just go slow. The fairing took me two days to put back together. Most of my parts came from Maxbmw. Really great service. I sent back a slightly marked windshield, no questions asked. I had the Haynes manual only. And the Airlist. That was helpful too. Good luck!
@@clivebillings4838 You got that right :-) I have spent twice on parts, outsourced work and painting what the bike is worth now on the open market. And I did all the work myself too! Not meant for it to be sold; it's my daily rider. Now around 40,000 kms further away from "new". In Jan/Feb of 2022 I am planning on restoring my G/S but that will not be as hard as this one.
Perfect Job
She's looking like a new...
And she's better than a new one!
Bravo
Well thank you :-) Yes, it'll be the last bike I ever need. It had 254,000 kms on it when I pulled it apart. Now about 11,000 kms :-)

Thanks for your kind words
I love that Porsche in the background at 3:55. I think you should sell the money pit and get a car like that.
Well done, I can see a lot of top quality work there.
Thanks :-)
You did a great job, mate! I'm looking at a R80GS to travel from my home in Northern Europe to cross North Africa with.
I have an R80G/S as well. Great bike. Here's my website on my G/S rebuild and trip: www.nohorizons.net/

Me gustó el resultado. Ando en búsqueda de una R80 para hacer el mismo trabajo.
Is this machine still for sale?
What made you think it was for sale? It's not, but for the right price, everything is for sale :-)
@@kebe7494 sorry but l was not aware of your location but your approach was meticulous
@@kebe7494 no half measures but you will never recover the cost - fantastic result
