- The LG Wallpaper TV is the thinnest display I've ever seen or held. It's thinner than a smartphone and I can easily pick up the 65-inch! It uses LG's OLED technology so you've got super dark blacks, vibrant colors and the overall picture quality you've come to expect from OLED. Because the Wallpaper TV is so thin it connects to an external sound bar speaker for power and video connections. The speaker is louder than standard TV speakers and features Dolby Atmos capabilities.

It may be expensive but you HAVE to admit that this is insanely impressive
Smizzle this and Samsungs frame TV are so cool.
It has a few downfalls beyond price. Being so thin and flexible there is a higher chance of damaging it. You can't change the viewing angle easily. The ridiculous short cable connecting the soundbar is too short for many mounting options. I'd much rather get the OLED65E7P model for $4k (2.4" deep) and eliminate all the issues with this one O_o.
Additionally if you really want a wallpaper TV, any decent carpenter could flush mount most flat screen TVs for a couple of hundred or less.

I understand price will drop as with all electronic products, but it still doesn't negate the other potential downfalls of a display like this. I already have a nice surround sound system (Definitive Technology ProCinema 800) and a Samson LED 4k TV (UN75MU6300FXZA) that is slightly angled down and mounted to the wall with the cables in the wall and out of view.
I like the idea of this TV, just not the execution. I would have prefered a smaller base that the ribbon cable attaches to. I would have prefered a mounting system that could be angled which is a necessity if you want to mount it higher than eye level sitting down. Overall it's impressive, just not to my personal tastes which of course are subjective.
@Chalkhous, I did read it comes with a 4 ft extension to the ribbon cable which is respectable and should be long enough for most installations.

Where has this gone - such a good idea - just makes sense - DISCONTINUED!!!. This needs to be revived with a stand that holds it up not just on a wall but as a freestanding screen. Having the screen and its components separate with a speaker system included just makes so much sense! I get that it's expensive but that is because all new concepts at expensive to start with. A range of scaled down more affordable screens is surely possible. This has to take off soon, its got to be the future.

Not really homie. They have had dumb screens as thin as this for a long time. It's not that difficult to create a display that thin when all of the electronics and hardware are stored elsewhere. The technology in the ribbon cable and the bar with all the I/O is what made this possible.

If only that were so, I would give anything to be an edgy teenager again, especially if I knew what I know now, my life would have been so different. Sadly I remember the first desk top electronic calculator coming into our office in 1974, we all thought it was magic that you could just tap numbers into it and it instantly perform whatever calculation you wished and it would give you an instant answer, and that was in the day and age when the drawing office were still using slide rules and logarithmic tables and desktop computers were still ten years away from becoming a reality in the workplace. I also remember in the 1980s saying out loud in the office that it was a waste of time learning to use a QWERTY keyboard as in ten years time you will be able to talk to your computer. Well forty years later they are still selling desk top computers with keyboards but increasingly you are able to talk to your computer or tablet. I was born before the original star trek era, I saw the first tv pictures of the moon landing and expected things to happen much faster than they actually have. But yes if only I was an edgy teenager again with the whole of my life in front of me instead of mostly behind me now.

Johnny Visconti Honestly I know a lot of guys who work 40 hours a week and spend $9k on a TV. They just put it on credit cards or take out a loan and pay it down over a few years. They mostly just watch sports, PPV events and movies with their family.

Price of these TV's will definitely decrease overtime. Aroung 1999 here in slovakia a flat screen tv cost around a half milion slovak korun it is 16596 eur, now, now you can buy a flat screen tv from 99 eur the same tv I have been seen back than would cost around 200+ euro I guess.
Because people are still willing to pay for them. If people are willing to pay high-prices, companies would be losing money to lower prices.

It's because the technology is still relevant. Once it's obsolete, prices will plummet because no one else wants that tech anymore. Case in point, the first plasma flat screen. They don't even sell those in retail stores anymore because they are 100% obsolete to us. There are people who WOULD buy them, but that's not how capitalism makes money.

I have a whole zoo of tv's in my house including CRT Tv's. I have a normal CRT, an HD Sony 32 inch 4:3 CRT, (I used to have Samsung Slim 16:9 HD CRT but it had too much overscan), a 1080p Plasma, a 1080p Sony SXRD rear projection (that has yet to suffer a broken opitcal block), and some 1080p LCD's for my 2 desktops.
No 4k tv's yet.
Plus I picked up 2 crt's and hooked up 2 ps2;s and Time Crisis 3 and system linked them for an arcade set up. That's at my cousins for space.

I think you could justify paying $8000 for a really good tv... suppose you are a family of four going out to the cinema 4 times a month would cost about $400 if you include overpriced drinks popcorn candy etc... buy the tv on credit for about $160 a month and watch as many movies as you want at home....
I would rather spend my $160 a month towards a car, you can buy a TV or even a Projector thats 4K for $2000, and i goto the cinema like once every 3 months and costs around $35
