- Kentucky Collectibles travels to the Antique Boat Center in Cincinnati, OH. They bring buyers and sellers of antique and classic boats together and they also restore and maintain the boats as well. They carry a large, ever changing selection of antique and classic boats including Chris Craft, Century, Gar Wood, Hacker Craft, Lyman's and Thompson.

In 1958, my grandfather bought a new Lyman 23 inboard. White freeboard, red upholstery, nonskid decks, varnish wood everywhere and a tan Bimini top. He took us all over Biscayne Bay, Key Biscayne, Elliot’s Key, up the Miami River and around a Miami Beach. Boy, we’re we liv’n big.
He also bought us Evinrude outboards for our plywood skiffs and told us how to take care of them. We lived on our family’s 1894 estate on Bayshore Drive in Coconut Grove. It was so old we had a windmill, outhouse (ok, it was a turn of the century relic, we had indoor plumbing),
Stables a hill that made pulling our 2 x 4 wood boat trailers down the hill and across to the sailing club boat lift easy. Grandma would let us use her Edsel to pull them back up the hill Sunday afternoon. One time when it was too windy to put my boat in, I put it in the pool. It was ok as long as I didn’t start the motor. My dad was shot down in the China Burma India theater in WWII. My other grandparents lived only a few blocks away and taught us all about gardening. I was lucky to have such wonderful grandparents. Sorry for ranting, boats seem to trigger my memories.

I got my 46 chriscraft for $100 when I was 17....still get it out every other year
1984 Chriscraft Scorpion I/O still own it...hate to get rid of it.
I have a 1966 Correct Craft "Barracuda" with 318 Chrysler (Fury) engine.It's fiberglass and the color is "Cherry Mahogany". Many think it's a wooden boat.

Are the Owens boats worth restoring. I have one I am looking at - a Owens Aruba a big yacht around 40 plus feet?
Did I see a “39” barrel stern with solid covering planks? I had one of which I sold before it was totally restored 😢
My favorite is the 19 ft. 1939 Chris Craft Barrel Back! Years ago I was doing an insurance survey at a Marina in Hilton Head, SC & saw a one & the Marina owner said it once belonged to Humphrey Bogart! Wow! Wow! Wow! What a incredible $$$valuable boat that would be!!
Our family had a 1956 Cruisers 16 foot wood boat with a 75 horse black and white Mercury outboard. We used to go on Canadian fishing trips every year. But around 2018 we lost the boat to dry rot. It was too far gone to try and restore
we are doing a lyman right now, gray marine motor.
My dad had a 1943 Lyman I wish I had it now
My boat is 45 years old. 1972 MFG NIAGARA. Restore project.

I have a $ 150,000 modern boat and I love it. But it’s not a Chris Craft I honestly want one so bad. The only boat in the works I would sell mine for is a Chris Craft.

Hi..I have a v39 antique wooden boat and can't find info on it. 2-21/2 ft
I bought it for 125.00 about 8 yrs ago..I don't know it's value of now.
As long as you have some other way to make a living...boat restorstion is a fine activity...
A lot of people make a good living from boat restoration.
The way you make your living is selling the boats at the right price.
@@darthkek1953 Thats part of it , but for years we did only repairs and restoration , now we do that and build small skiffs.
