Thankfully I never got rid of any of mine!!! Only now the remains of them lie in two massive storage bins and with the limited space I have at the moment, I can’t really organize my pieces or really go through them very much.
My dark age was from around 2018-2021. A much smaller dark age but I missed out on some epic sets. I never really left the Lego scene, I always kinda knew what legos were out cuz I would always go to the Lego areas in stores but never bought anything. I thought Lego “were for kids” but that was in high school and now I’m an adult and I’ve learned to not care about labels like that lol
I absolutely love JOMO, joy of missing out. 😂 You can still purchase the Medieval Blacksmith online for its retail price. Get one! It’s life changing. It changed my life. Absolutely love the set. Had to fix a couple problems with it of course, but it’s great. I’m building a whole Medieval/Fantasy village based off its design. So overjoyed to be inspired by it. I don’t care about any other theme at all in themselves, only for parts. Big appreciation for the licensed themes and what they’ve done for Lego, and us AHOLs, but IDGAF about them at all. They’re parts packs in my opinion. No Regerts! Get a Medieval Blacksmith now!
I also really regret not getting the Smaug set. I wasn't really in my dark ages, but I was just a bit disappointed in the building it came with and I already had different variants of all the figures, so I didn't feel like it was worth it at the time. Really regret not getting it now. Also, I regret selling the Mill Village Raid for a way too low price in a period when I needed to sell some LEGO to be able to buy new ones. (I was still a student) and I wasn't really interested in Castle back then. A smaller one I regret not getting is the Shipwreck Hideout from 2009, also rescue from the merpeople and the Hungarian horntail from 2005.
The Brick Bank is what got me out of my Dark ages. Extremely happy to have that modular. Have everyone since then and went back ans got the Detectives office, pet shop and palace cinema. Lately modulars have fallen off but the new Tudor modular feels like it's time for a solid comeback.
My Lego dark age was from 2014-2019. I did get a handful of sets for either my Christmas or birthday. However, outside of that I didn't bother getting any sets. I was more interested in clothing and tech. When Covid happened that's when I really got back into Lego. Not only I rebuilt many of my old sets throughout quarantine, (which gave me some semblance of nostalgia and security), but acquired numerous sets I missed out on via Bricklink. I got the 2013 Battle of Smallville, 2018 Benator from Infinity War, Hogwarts Great Hall and 2019 AT -AP to name a few. Really happy that I'm back full time lol.
It pains me to often think about... But my LEGO dark age was from 2007-2017 when I was in highschool, college, and early adulthood. I missed out on some really good castle themes (Fantasy Era and Kingdoms), and also missed out on all of the LOTR/Hobbit themes... 😭 Thankfully I got back into LEGO in 2017 when I took my old LEGO collection from my parents' house, which rekindled my love for the hobby.
For me, I think the Ghostbusters Firehouse, An Unexpected Visit, The Bookshop and Cloud City probably all feature. I suspect Home Alone will join that list as it's unlikely ill be able to justify that before it retires.
I own that Jango Fett figure and set. Was very grateful to get it for Christmas back in the day!😄 I’d also really want the Pirates of the Caribbean ships, tho they are soooo expensive nowadays 😩
I missed out on the Joker’s notorious Low rider. I wish I could have gotten it, and Director Krennic’s shuttle from Rogue One. And the Tie Striker and the 1950s Diner modular
Runescape took over around 2008 for me, only picking lego back up in late 2024. I've got a big dark age hah, but I never lost my original collection! The past 3 months has been searching for the lego sets I missed. There is no way I could afford 300$+ for the dragon alone. Orth tower is almost the same boat. I will part it out and likely buy aftermarket minifigures and specific crazy things. Like palantir, or official sticker pages. The search and hunt for the right set at the right price can get addictive, which is a new thrill to the Hobby I didn't have as a kid.
Wow I have never even heard of some of these. I didnt get back into the hobby until 2021 so I completely understand your pain. One set I do think youll get again eventually is the Tower of Orthanc. The large scale Lotr sets seem to be very popular at least for big spenders haha. After the Barad-dur released I just knew eventually we would get the other tower someday
Well my dark ages for lego was 2019-2024 and im technic builder so i almost sold my entire technic piece collection but in october 2024 i bought a ton of new technic sets for parts and now i again build my own models:)
To me as an adult the joy of owning sets pales in comparison to the joy as a kid i had with playing with lego. So i try not to get over upset about not having this set or thay set and jist be thankful we can own some great sets that 30 years agp was a pipe dream
Mine was around your same time frame. Stopped getting Lego when I was a kid in early 2010s, and just recently started a brand new collection a year ago
my dark ages lasted a long time, got back into it a bit in 2006...really picked up in 2016 or so...I skipped the book shop, which is too bad, would love to have Orthanc, was just too much for me at the time, have the blacksmith, its awesome, have forrest hideout, I skipped the hobbit sets although I was tempted, never got into the movies, so was hard to justify
Worst part of the dark age isn’t the sets we missed out on… it’s the sets we got rid of
Thankfully I never got rid of any of mine!!! Only now the remains of them lie in two massive storage bins and with the limited space I have at the moment, I can’t really organize my pieces or really go through them very much.
Republic gunship bro 😢 RIP
The ones in the top are some of my missed sets too, not really a dark age, it is mostly that i could not afford them in the moment
The medieval blacksmith was the first bigger set I got coming out of my dak age. The first being the 501st battlepack
Damn bro same 2023 got back into it wish I did it way sooner
2013 and 2014 were golden years of lego star wars.

I started collecting in 2010 and never had a “dark age” lego has just always been my thing and always will be in guessing?

This is how I feel about a couple sets I regret not getting that became super expensive afterwards. So so sad

@@BDD_Builds I feel this! So many good sets in those years! 😭

I believe you have till 2026 till it retires!
I haven’t had a dark age

My dark age was over 20 years. So much I missed!
I got back into lego after 20 years....things have changed

The medieval blacksmith is the best set in that list, run out of space, so I won[t be getting any of those...
