- The PlayStation 5 Damage control is in full swing by PS5 fanboys defending their favorite next generation console for not being able to run games at 60fps. Both the Xbox and PS5 are promising a true generational leap but neither has been able to get games to run default at 60fps like they should instead choosing to focus on 4k..... Today we are going to be looking at a video from a PS5 fanboy who is literally trying to claim that it is a good thing that games will not be running at 60fps on the PS5 and that if he had a choice, he would rather play every game at 30fps regardless of how powerful the hardware is.

They also seem to forget, that if there is no demand for something like a high refresh rate TV, no one is going to make a faster TV. Hardware companies innovate on features which sell more TVs, if they could brag that console game play is better on their faster TVs, they may actually make that faster TV.

The reason why the games were running at 30fps was because the SSD is so fast that they had to nerf the CPU/GPU to keep it from opening a portal to another dimension.

Fun fact, the movie framerate standard is 48 frames per second as they discovered anything under 45 looked choppy and bad as well as introduced flickering on projectors, but this was halved to 24 unique frames by companies to save money.

30 FPS is really bothersome after you have played 60 FPS games.
30 FPS is annoying because it makes it look the game is constantly stuttering and having slowdowns. Our eyes can tell the difference pretty easily.
A well paced game in terms of frame times is not stuttery, the only time it looks that way is when frames drop and frame times are inconsistent, i.e. Bloodborne.

@@asain3586 Simply, no. 60fps isn't better than superior graphics or physics in many cases, therefore it shouldn't be the standard. Developers choose what they feel is best for their game and frankly, 60fps doesn't take priority in many cases.

If someone feels like that he doesn't like the 60fps (which I highly doubt) then the developer just has to put an option into the game which allows the player to only play at 30fps. Still the fact remains that 60fps should be a standard.

No, the stream on TH-cam ran at 30(for some reason). But the actual trailers ran at 60, besides a few games. Anyways I don't think you'll have to worry about not running to 60 fps because there's gonna be a performance mode and graphics mode.

I mean, you can't expect the game to be running at 60fps in 4k (from day one). This is not a hardware limitation, but rather a limitation of the game itself. Just because the hardware of the PS5 is better, doesn't mean it can already live up to the expectations. The time it takes to get used to the console, the budget and the game engines used are all factors during development that affect the game's performance.

You can trust routher 5 to hear faster then a jet and the sound don't worry you won't hear it because the noise carved into your brain will make you regret everything

GohTheHero Yes. I don’t even have a gaming PC and it still has 1080p 60 FPS. Now if you get a Gaming Pc you could get 1080p 120 FPS. Then you get a ti2080 which is the best possible piece of software for a Gaming Pc you could get 4K 144 FPS on AAA games.(well close to that, it might drop to 120 or even 100.)
And yes I know that it is expensive as fuck but you are saying that it would be better than the best PC so unless PS5 comes out and creates the TI4060 They can’t top the best possible software.

I just want to point out how stupid is the Avengers clip:
It's does also looks weird because it is NOT actually natural 60fps, instead they are interpolated. This meaning that the additional frames were artificially created (most of the time automatically by some video editing software)
This will create a lot of ghosting problems and also the look on the objets in the created frames will be weird if there's too much movement
So it's not just that we are way too used to 24fps recording on movies, but it's also that interpolated 60fps fucking sucks.
Btw there are some movies that have experimented recording at high rates (The Hobbit Trilogy for example)

I remember watching my favorite youtuber stream the Ubisoft Forward event, and this one ps fanboy kept trash talking the xbox by saying the most incorrect stuff ever like "AC Valhalla will run at 30 fps on xbox but 60 on ps5" and then I always told him that they would both be 30 fps but then he tries to ignore that fact and then proceeds to try and make it seem like ps5 will be far superior.

As Griffin said if this same logic was applied to PC then devs would lock their pc versions to 30fps. But they don't.

As someone who doesn't have a high-end PC, I wish Sony would actually give us a more smoother performance. Graphics doesn't mean anything to me if the game looks kinda janky in terms of FPS. Motion Blur turned off, can only do so much, at least to me.

microsoft offering 120fps and smart delivery are my main factors to buy the Series X
The ps5 and xsx will both have 120 fps, they both run on the same architecture and I think Sony has smart delivery, but it doesn't have the same name.
Edit: Dirt 5 confirmed at 120 fps and Sony and Xbox will be both have smart delivery for multiplat games that allow it.

This reminds me of the article I read a few months ago that said the reason PS5's backward compatibility is limited was because its boost mode is so powerful that some PS4 games just can't handle it.

For a start, 2k and 1440p are the same thing. Second, televisions that are almost always in either 1080p or 2160p formats. These cannot cannot display 1440p without severe artifacting due to interpolation. So the only options would be to do 4k at 60fps, which is actually still quite demanding for what is essentially mid range PC hardware in the PS5, or 1080p at 60fps with various bells and whistles like AA and HDR.
Higher than 60fps will not happen since TVs don't really go beyond that (120fps on TV is just hardware motion interpolation).
While I would like to see 60Hz as standard, I think PS5 might still struggle while pushing 2160p resolutions in AAA titles. Even on PC I really feel the pain when pushing 2160p resolutions, so I can feel the temptation to settle at 30fps. I feel like resolutions and framerates are outpacing graphics card advancements.
You are correct though that 1440p is a nice middle ground.

@@jasonblazgk9973 Plenty of games run at internal resolutions below 4k on 4K displays, artificating is not produced by non-standard resolutions however image quality will suffer from scaling. That isn't a big issue as long as you have good upscaling solutions, virtually all games on PS4 pro and Xbox one X use variable resolution scaling rather than rendering at fixed resolutions. While the hud and interfaces are rendered at 4k the gameplay itself rarely hits true 2160p. 2k@120fps would be a smart compromise target from next gen games especially with the new machine learning based techniques for upscaling coming out, in many cases a 2k image upscaled is actually resolved better than a native 4k image with traditional AA. See Death Stranding on PC, if AMD releases their own comparable AI scaling tech games like Horizon 2 technically could run at 60fps quite easily at 4k. Its the same engine and its demonstrated very impressive performance optimization and scaling reaching 100+ fps on PCs weaker than the PS5.

As somebody who's just graduated from film school and planning to work in the film industry, the only reason that films and television output in 23.769 is because that was the highest framerate that camera could get in the 1890's and the industry is very stubborn and don't wanna output it's films at higher framerates, even now when the films have gone digital

I used to play DS3 on Xbox and I got used to playing it at 30fps, but when I got myself a PC and played it at 60fps, the difference was extremely noticeable.
Most overrated games ever, I have played them all and I loved Last of Us and despised Last 2. Uncharted is a jumping and climbing simulator, God of Snore is just that, Spiderman was boring as hell and although I did enjoy Horizon for the first 30 hours......it got boring as hell. I prefer XBox's limited first party library and am optimistic in what they will bring this coming gen. Halo is awesome and I can't wait for Infinite. My favorite games are still multi platform games.

I was actually playing the new avengers on my PS4 pro at the 4k30 setting for around 30 hours and I thought it was not that bad, then I switched to the 60fps mode...
The only reason why 30 looked “smooth” to me was because I haven’t see 60 FPS and now anytime I play for honor on my ps4 I keep complaining at the low FPS

What does the contrast of the colors I see on a screen on certain tv's have to do with not being able to make games run at 60 fps in 2020?
The hdmi port can handle a limited amount of data for second on cheap 4k tvs. 60fps and 4k means less good hdr. That's what bluepoint said about demon's souls remake. They promised a performance mode and a graphic mode, so I have no problems with it. I'll play it in graphic mode, I've the fortune to being use to 30 and being fine with it.
HDMI bandwidth. It has some truth to it but in practice it wouldn't affect anything, the TV would just not show, either all the fps, HDR or colors. It wouldn't magically not show a picture.
@@madfinntech Nah, every 4k tv has HDMI 2.0 which has plenty of bandwidth. Which is why I was hella confused about what the dude who made the tweet was talking about. Apparently he claims it has to do with the processor in the tv, and despite never having heard of a tv with this problem... maybe its true.
But the reality is 4:2:0 really only matters with text, not picture quality. Particularly very small colored text. So you could just, you know... use larger text, or black and white text in your game and anyone with one of these mythical tvs could play games just fine at 4k 60fps. But what gamer doesn't love small colored text in their games? So I can see why they decided to limit the framerate to 30fps.
Honestly the whole 4:4:4 argument has to go down in history as the dumbest excuse ever, any text small enough to meaningfully suffer from 4:2:0 on a 4k tv wouldn't even be legible from normal tv viewing distances. Thats why all console games use large text already. Hes either a blithering idiot or hes just banking on the fact that most people don't know what chroma subsampling is.
I was playing the X enhanced Witcher 3 on the XboneX. It looked great, but I found an option to switch from graphical improvement to performance. I didn't notice any change in graphics afterwards but HOLY shit, it looked amazing with a faster frame rate
I have God Of War on PS4 Pro. But damn that 30fps 4K mode is painful. The performance mode isn’t stable either. I need to use the fake motion smoothing interpolation from my TV to make it less horrendous

Fun Fact: It’s not a glitch. TH-cam is unsubscribing offline accounts(like if you stop using your TH-cam account for months or even years) It causes a bit of problems but is also really good for Stopping Sub Bots.
