  • Goodyear has revealed its long-term vision for future smart, connected tires. In an evolving mobility ecosystem defined by the transition to driverless vehicles and shared mobility in urban centers, Goodyear aims to revolutionize the interaction between tires, vehicles and their surroundings. Goodyear unveiled the Eagle 360 Urban, its latest concept tire, at the Geneva International Motor Show. This 3-D printed sphere is the first concept tire to be powered by Artificial Intelligence and able to sense, decide, transform and interact.
    Last year, with the Eagle 360 concept tire, Goodyear presented a unique, multi-directional sphere to match the demands of autonomous driving through increased levels of comfort, safety and maneuverability. The positive feedback received encouraged the manufacturer to take this concept even further.
    This year, with the Eagle 360 Urban, Goodyear is pushing the boundaries again, aiming to illustrate a vision of how the future could look. Powered by Artificial Intelligence, Goodyear is giving the concept tire a ‘brain’. Combined with a bionic skin and morphing tread, the Eagle 360 Urban has the ability to put knowledge into practice. The tire will become part of the vehicle’s ‘nervous system’ and the connected world of the Internet of Things. That way, it is ready to rapidly adapt to changing circumstances, as well as the evolving needs of Mobility as a Service (MaaS) for fleets and their users.

    The contact patch just seems way way too small. This may cause exponentially increased wear on our asphalt roads.

    You can tell they fixed the faults from their last model. The fact that it can now adjust make a big difference. Yet still curious how it handles through mud puddles or potholes. I feel better about how it handles ice. Yet not sure if it could climb snow by how it's built.

    I can't figure out what causes the tires to turn at all, there's no way you could make those tires roll by using a magnetic field, if they are surrounded by magnets then changing the strength of magnetic repulsion from one side to encourage momentum or change direction would just destabilize the car's levitation. An electromagnetic field could cause rotation, but it wouldn't be strong enough to move the wheel, let alone the whole car.

  • @monauwarislam4953
    @monauwarislam4953 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The energy source to create magnetic levitation is expensive when it comes EV powered vehicles because battery needs to produce more power compared to burning hydrocarbon fuels. I guess the next revolution of vehicles will be mechanically rotated wheels in 360 degrees which means each wheel gets to have an individual motor. It would take eons for levitation technology to become existent in future.

    You must build a computer within each wheel and have them wirelessly communicating with eachother and the driver. you need a fifth larger wheel for primary control. each wheel needs to individually handle Weight distribution and stabilization. The vehicle that will hold this wheel needs to be autonomous with the driver doing the bare minimum when driving... if you would like to do more.. message and I'll tell you how the computers in the wheels work

      @Inaki Zurbano "If you enjoy driving, just don't buy this car and shut up."
      People like you need to shut up because you always have same logic (if you don't like it don't buy it, etc, until you are forced to buy that exact thing or don't use it at all. Same goes for other stuff that are wrong with society.
      Things don't dissappear if you avoid them.
