Finallyyy.... Someone talked about damn irritating and disturbing scenes of 'sarileru neekevaru'....I didn't understand how they framed a rape scene as a comedic one and no one questioned/objectified it. What Jammy said is true about ignorance of problematic sequences in star cinema.....in telugu film industry for sure.
most often not, star hero and director movies tend to have these problematic scenes being passed off as comedy and romance. The train scene in Sarileru was beyond disturbing. The director of Sarileru also made this movie F2, which passed off blatant sexism as comedy. Puri Jagannadh is another director who tends to depict stalking/forcing /harassing a girl as some kind of fairy tale romance. Its mind blowing to see how this shit has been normalised over the years. Recent example is Allu Arjun's Ala Vaikunthapurramloo, where the guy preaches that 'If a girl says no, its no', but simply cannot get over his fetish for Pooja Hegde's legs and would not stop staring at them. It's high time stars are held responsible for the ideas they promote through their movies. Alas! many fans are too blinded to even understand how problematic this is.
I absolutely hated this, the movie was actually pretty good! Great storyline, true stuff and actually really entertaining! But this girl side character was not needed even a bit. She just ruined my fun of watching such a good movie. She could do anything just to get married to that man even if it meant ruining him and his love life or freedom. Truly weird how it was approved.
@@khushibagga4688 good things in that movie are so less. The only good things in that movie is Prakash Raj, fight eventhough over the top is kind of ok, and cinematography. The music is average, acting of the majority of actors are bad and mahesh babu was average in acting in this movie, the comedy, emotional and dramatic scenes are bad, direction and screenplay are bad. Just because it gives a good message doesn't make it a good movie. And this was promoted as mahesh babu's soldier film, but we barely got any of that.
Thank you Jammy. Just the sheer ignorance of that scene from Sarileru Neekevvaru is baffling. Over the years we've been conditioned in a way where the most problematic scenes are labelled as comedy and we as audience have accepted it. Thanks to you, over the last 2 years or so I'm able to differentiate between what's funny and what's not. In the name of movie reviews, you've actually had an impact on my judgement of things. 🙏
I don't know from which region you are but telugu people hated the whole movie it collected so much only because of mb s star power. Even now you see imdb rating it s not good.It even didn't win the Sankranti race
@@srinivasaraopendyala3973 I'm a telugite myself and ik that the movie didn't do very well. But here I'm specifically speaking about the scene that Jammy mentioned.
It's high time celebrates actors say no to such scripts where rape is potrayed under the light of comedy. I started the movie as being an admirer of Mahesh Babu, just to press the cross button upon watching the train scene.
Being a telugite and watched interviews of Mahesh babu he blindly goes with the script and scenes of the director never interrupts or involves, but still he should interfere with directors thoughts where these kind of scenes are involved
Me being a hardcore Telugu movie watcher , watching Sarileru was one of the toughest ones ever! There's absolutely no justification for that sequence at all!! And Jammy , the fact that you understood Sankranthi release!! Thank you! It reassures why you are so good and my absolute favourite!! You understand the things behind the screen so well for any film and the industry too!!
I blame you for watching it, I know, I know victim blaming is wrong, more so in such horrendous cases but I still blame you. I saw the directors name, I saw the trailer, I puked twice and never watched the movie. Now i have all of my Brian cells intact.
I'm neither a fan of Mahesh Babu nor insensitive to victims of sexual assault but the scene works for me. Overall, the film was a total shit but I really bought into the train comedy and I want to watch more of that.

That's true but the thing is with actresses is that if they keep waiting for a good script, they are gonna lose on getting constant work. We have so many splendid actresses with immense talent they're finding it difficult to get work at times. It's a catch 22 situation, do you wait or do you work to sustain your career.. unlike our guys, there's not a lot for them to work around too. She might genuinely want to work in that way but there's no opportunity coming here way because our creators want to capitalise on what sells: objectification. The moment we as audience start sending a change but our money, nothing is going to change because the present system works for them.
@Arya Ashok For #1 she gave this statement while promoting her film "Dear comrade" #2 this doesn't support any fact that she sticks to her words It is none of our business to argue which roles should she opt for But she stated this in public domain that she will not a part of such stereotypical world where actresses are nothing but a mere records in a plot line ... and she exactly did the opposite If not opposite even worse ..as jammy pointed out So yes : the word hypocrisy suits very well
Rashmika seems to have this rare talent of choosing roles that degrade women in the name of entertainment, she seems ok with it as long as she's getting the fat paycheck...this is where you develop respect for people like Kangana n Tapsee who have matured in their careers n will definitely say 'Get Lost' to such scenes...
Umm kangana?? Really?? U seem to miss that nonconsentual kiss scene idk the movie name.. Also kangana has double standards as long as she gets fame and money she really doesn't care like last time she tried to insult the whole LGBTQ community on her twitter handle not to forget!
Excatly my thought abt rashmika and more than kangana or tapsee...i would say Sai Pallavi and Parvati have been choosing great roles and would never go ahead with such degrading scenes.
The #SarileruNeekevvaru scene was so cringe that I immediately tweeted about it.. but his blind fans attacked me for calling out that rape jokes .. thanks for pointing that out..
@not now well, but the fans are not...they should understand, they themselves are ruining MB's name, by doing this shitty thing....I respect MB as a human being.❤

Finally someone is talking about Remo. I love this film because they actually made Remo look like a girl and not a dude in skirt and wig and people miraculously seeing Remo as a girl and also because I love Kreethy and because I first started this film halfway through and from the trailers thought that it was a love story between a trans woman and a ciswoman (don’t ask me, I’m slow). However, after watching the full film, the way the plot started and progressed makes me want to hit my head against a wall. Repeatedly.
As a telugu girl, I remember watching this film with my family and the sheer ignorance and the laughs across the theater traumatised me in a sense. When I protested, I was told it's just a movie and watch it that way. Matlab kuch bhi!!
I'm neither a fan of Mahesh Babu nor insensitive to victims of sexual assault but the scene totally works for me. Overall, the film was a total shit but I really bought into the train comedy and I want to watch more of that.
Honestly rashmika is respected by North Indians just because she is a south indian actress as south Indians are seen as humble people here in north. I've seen south Indians don't really have a huge hype about her, for them she's just another actress. And again she's really pretty, I've been holding it for years but all the work she has done is literally cringe and kills my braincells.
Rashmika mandana's character in the movie sarileru neekevvaru is one of the most crigest character in the tollywood and also the director of the movie anil ravipudi's heroines are all similar 😑
Jammy, I hope you're not missing your therapy sessions after putting yourself through all this garbage... You are the Bear Grylls of movie reviewing... Matlab Kuchi Bhi Khayega....
after seeing this series my love for movies like 96 reaches very high as it showcased how beautifully the love is without any filter and all a pure and relatable one
@Umamaheswari G Remember the scene where they are in her hotel room and on the floor and he narrates her whole past life to her. Telling her, he was always watching from behind.
As Sarileru Neekevvaru is mentioned, I want to add Ala Vaikuntapuram loo too, that scene where Allu Arjun repeatedly keeps staring at Pooja's legs and a whole song is dedicated to her legs"Nee Kaallani Paatuku " 🤐
I still don't know how that's considered a comedy scene or even as a romantic gesture. I'd file a police report if some random guy was staring at my legs all day long
Yesss!!! I am so glad to see your comment. I was a die hard AA fan but as i grew and went back to his films it shocks me how problematic they were. Lets not even talk about deshamuduru and arya series
@@prettywoman4694 I was too young back when they released to realize this issue. Omg Arya is the OG Joe Goldberg from You but in a more creepy way if that's possible. He broke into someone's house and the others were not freaking out about it??!! They were blaming the actress. I think this was Arya 2. I don't really remember Deshamuduru but I bet there's similar themes in that. Now that I think about it, Allu Arjun acts like a stalker in almost all of his movies
Finally some one said it. Yes I was disgusted with the way they glorified the scene and also a whole song dedicated for it. When the song released I really liked it but the actual video is very cheap highlighting a stranger guy drooling over a girls thighs.

Rashmika doesn't even know the basics of acting still she has millions of people who considers her acting to be cute while several actress who are really good are ignored she'll probably never get a chance in Malayalam because we value acting skills over kooteness
Rashmika mainly do same type of role.. it's not her fault if received same roles.. infact I think it's better for her rather than doing some challenging roles.. and there are plenty actress in the world even in Hollywood with same case.
I was shocked when I watched Sarileru Neevekkaru!! The sad thing is that such a movie is considered a "family movie" that you can watch with your parents and relatives while if you have even a kissing scene/dating it's not family friendly anymore!
@@venkatdev494 wha- how? I was honestly disgusted when I saw that scene. In no way is that a family friendly movie. This scene also perfectly showcases the problem of tollywood literally taking r*pe as a joke. Of course in some serious action movies they take it seriously but it seems to be the "trend" now. I'm honestly surprised at how the actors agreed to do such a controversial scene. A kiss is always included right before a dance and song number. And stalking or harassing a girl into liking you is just disgusting. Though the movies are slowly getting better one by one, this stereotype is still at large. A mutual dating scene is very rare and I recently watched the movie "Thimmarusu" which honestly gave me a lot of hope for the romance segment of movies. Thought it has plot holes I honestly appreciate the writers and directors for being brave and breaking this cycle. The fact that you said baby making just incredibly disgusts me and makes me wonder, how the fuck do disgusting scenes get approved? I'm so fucking disgusted at the 2010's tollywood industry. I honestly feel ashamed. Peace out ✌️
Dude! I know the scenes are too irritating. Are they objectifying women?? Yes But "kissing and dating nit being family friendly" is wrong tbh It's the mindset we need to be ashamed of. Kissing or dating is very natural and normal. Feeling awkward while watching with family has to deal with the fact that parents don't see it as a normal thing But in toto, kissing is not against "family friendly" But yes, the scenes do showcase women in a wrong way. That I agree
@@sreejapakala8609 What is definitely not family friendly was the girl putting in a rape allegation on the hero. That gives a wrong message that it would be possible to forcibly trap a boy by putting this allegation. It is one good thing that Mahesh Babu was strong enough to prove his innocence, but in real world, the guy would be lynched by the angry mob, or would be defamed in the online and real world by judgemental people who would declare guilt without any legal procedures. In fact, Crime Patrol even demonstrated one such case of false allegation in an episode, where the boy's life was ruined due to media trials and public anger, even though the police investigation proved that the allegations were fake. I do agree with the "kissing and dating" part being normal. It is a part of life, people find love, get involved in relationships and go for dating.
The whole train sequence is in Sari Leru Neeku Yavaru is considered to be cringe-worthy in general even by the Telugu audience. The specific scene that you talked about is also regarded as something that was problematic and was not well received and criticized for trying to squeeze comedy out of such situations.
Speak for yourself ... I work with people who absolutely love this movie. @@pavithravellingiri ironically enough yogi babu in the movie stalks the hero without knowing the truth that he is a guy, but still he doesn't realise he is doing the same thing
One reason 7G Rainbow colony is considered way different from Remo is that almost till the end of movie, the hero is not showcased or celebrated for his stalking but ridiculed, slapped, insulted in public, including the heroine. He is portrayed as a wastrel not good for anything and not respected by anyone. The part where they finally get together is cringeworthy even then and even today, but was ended in a anticlimatic way and rushed at end. The rawness of the movie and the reality at many places made 7G movie legendary as compared with Remo which was out and out cringe and creepy (only the songs was its saving grace). I'm not supporting the behaviour of the hero in 7G, but just trying to identify why the movie was considered better - you can refer to AskBR episode on 7G rainbow colony by Baradwaj Rangan, Award winning critic, Film Companion channel. He addressed the same point in one of the questions
The guy still gets the girl’s love at the of 7/G irrespective of the climax. So imagine such guys in reality thinking they still have a chance to get the girl.
Finally someone understood that... The protaganist of 7g was no less than a sick stalkerpath who chose almost every sick way to approach a girl. Only the rawness in dialogues, direction, performances made the film a bit easy to connect.
Yeah the character in 7g is flawed character. He have no exposure to such things. What he did is wrong but he didn't know it was wrong. Stalking is anyway a crime .
I remember watching Arjun Pandit in theatre, and I was horrified due to that rape and revenge story. Also, Jammy, please make a video on the Bollywood stereotype of using the hero's sisters as the object for rape in many 90s movies. Whenever a hero used to have a sister in the movie, I could predict that something bad will happen to her to invoke the hero's spirit, and I was right in all the movies I had seen during childhood.

In 7G, the heroine looks at the hero with disgust. The audience look at him with disgust. Even his parents look at him with disgust. In no way is he glorified. There are multiple instances where the hero is being seen as a lowly, cheap person. However, Anita finds redeeming qualitities in him and helps him discover his better side. He transforms into a new man because of her. There is drastic change between how the protagonist is at the beginning of the film and at the end. However, that is not the case with Remo. Even in the very ending of the film, the protagonist thinks its a good idea to dress up as an old man and do the same old trick. He hasn't changed one bit. Thereby saying to the audience that his behavior is normal and okay, which 7G does not do. 7G points out the flaws in one's character. It doesn't shy away from the dirty mindset young men undergo in their early 20s and late teens. It doesnt shy away from the fact that men that age can be fascinated by a woman's physical appearance, however it also points out the difference between lust and love. The way i see it, the hero initially lusts for the heroine, but towards the end he finds love.
Well said. Thats the essence of 7G. Hero is portrayed as flawed character & punished for his indecent actions (like followup scene after trying to gift the chain in bus), only after hero realises his mistake, mends his ways & improve his life, does the girl really fall in love with him. So there is no comparison between 7G & Remo !!
Spot on! 7G is altogether different from any of the other crap discussed in the video. It belongs to a different league - it focuses on hard-hitting facts on how young men behave and later glorifies the fact that young pervert turns into a mature person. Jammy you got it wrong here!
Not to forget the soul stirring, haunting music of yuvan for 7G elevated the movie to iconic status whereas REMO was designed to be a seasonal crowd pleaser

Glad that you brought up 7G. The sad part is even some girls fancy to have guy running behind them like how the guy from 7G does. I am not sure about other states but I have seen several incidents where girls have been stabbed just because they say no to a guy. These films basically generalize or approve that it's absolutely fine to stalk or physically abuse a girl.
Random but just few weeks ago a Girl in Assam was hit on her head with a slicing tool by a guy in the middle of the road She rejected him and he always kept stalking and bothering her. After a week in ICU the girl was declared dead. It was a brutal murder. People are enraged and are demanding justice for her. They are demanding for his death sentence. By this alone, we can see the situation of our country. How some youth are getting inspired by those films. How Indian judiciary is so damn week that people have to protest to get a literal murderer punished. And I can never fathom fancying a guy/girl stalking/ running behind me. It has to be the scariest thing ever, considering how cruel some people can get.
As a Tamizhian, Remo is a pervert film! 😂😂😂 7g is a great movie. Even to watch today. The harrassment scene by itself is out of context. Having watched sarilerun nekkavaru, it is offensive even in theatres. That has to do with the director. Mahesh babus other films never have such scenes.
I'm a telugite but after watching remo movie with subtitles I really liked the movie, sivakarthikeyan and keerthy suresh. But when I really thought about the story it's not at all good the teasing of the hero and irritation of the heroine. I think people liked it mostly because of the dreamy proposal scene and acting as a nurse, comedy and the cinematography of P. C. Sreeram.
Hi Jammy.. I am from Tamilnadu. '7G Rainbow Colony' movie never glorifies the act of stalking actually. The lead role is a flawed , hormonal , abusive idiot who is degraded and hated by the heroine for the most of the movie , only to love after falling a victim of his obsession. The end justifies his obsession of her , talking to her dead girlfriend. But , 'Remo' does the stalking and manipulating with a glorious background score and gets away with it , just because his love is true( at this point I have no idea what true love is anymore) . The distinction arises for the female leads too , considering the 'loosu ponnu' ( innocent and easily manipulated girl - completely nuts) role played by Keerthi in Remo and the serious , analytical role played by Sonia in '7G..'. . Awesome content by the way 👍

Classic ?? Aside from the fact that it was released just few days after the murder of a girl at Chennai local train station by her stalker which just reinforced the problem with the movie concept (not even including the girl bashing dialogues), it was so creepy and the heroine being so oblivious of the stalker around her throughout the movie. The only positive thing of the movie is the music - taken separately without putting the movie in context.
I still remember when the movie was about to release and my all telugu friends were repeatedly singing that song "He is so cute" and how it released along with Allu Arjun's Ala Vaikunthpooramlo. My friends were saying concept is good of changing a person's mind by letting him know about the army and their disciplines. But the same theme couldn't well portrayed in the movie. The makers tried to add few comic sequences like "never before ever after" through out the movie. I would say that idea is horribly failed. But B Praak's song Chandrudivo Surudivo will surely catch ur heart.
Remo was so bad, SK himself apologized (after public outrage) and promised not to make films like that again.

It's a catch 22 situation, do you wait or do you work to sustain your career.. unlike our guys, there's not a lot for them to work around too. I was shocked when I watched Sarileru Neevekkaru!! The sad thing is that such a movie is considered a "family movie" that you can watch with your parents and relatives while if you have even a kissing scene/dating it's not family friendly anymore!
Dude there is a difference between "Family Movie" and "Making Family" Movie.
Dude! I know the scenes are too irritating.
Are they objectifying women?? Yes
But "kissing and dating nit being family friendly" is wrong tbh
It's the mindset we need to be ashamed of.
Kissing or dating is very natural and normal. Feeling awkward while watching with family has to deal with the fact that parents don't see it as a normal thing
But in toto, kissing is not against "family friendly"
But yes, the scenes do showcase women in a wrong way.

Spot on 7G is my fav movie
Not to forget the soul stirring, haunting music of yuvan for 7G elevated the movie to iconic status whereas REMO was designed to be a seasonal crowd pleaser
@@SanthoshKumar-iv8qs Yuvan's music was great in 7G. But i also really like the music and certain aspects of REMO. I don't hate REMO. I was just pointing out why 7G is considered superior (which is true).

I'm born and brought up in Hyderabad and an avid follower of Telugu cinema. Thank you for getting Sarileru Neekevvaru under the scanner. Someone had to talk about it.
I respect MB for the superstar he is but his movie choices over the last few years are questionable.
Can't blame him ... The audience didn't take it well when he did experimental movies ... So he is trying to play it safe with his fan base ... End of the day it's about the money for production team right ?
I'm neither a fan of Mahesh Babu nor insensitive to victims of sexual assault but the scene totally works for me. Overall, the film was a total shit but I really bought into the train comedy and I want to watch more of that.

C. Sreeram.
@mere kanha & dr ki ladly 💙🎶 true love for girl😂 more like lust. He don't even know her at first
7g didn't glorify the mistakes of the hero whereas remo exactly did it. I don't even know why I enjoyed it in theatre.

OM movie was like the DDLJ of kannada industry. As you have mentioned it has been released so many times and people went to watch it all those times. I honestly didn't get the hype of that movie, cuz it was full of forceful violence, love and messed up relationship, but still with a happy ending. I seriously never watched that movie in a single sitting, cuz I didn't want to watch it. I was surprised how they normalised that kind of behaviour in a movie and how it became a big sensational hit. They actually included real life rowdies and gangsters in that movie. Maybe that's what attracted people to watch it and know how they behaved I guess?
To be honest, I think it's the Violince in the relationship. Tournamenting the girl for "revenge" and still getting the happy end.

True
Thank you so much for telling Remo is so problematic, when my friends say it's good and a classic. I can do nothing but cringe at it!
Yes remo is cringe

In the case of 7G Rainbow Colony, it was mostly considered as a "realistic" film which didn't glorify the stalking, but instead portraying it as just a story... even the protagonist was an unknown face... it became a hit because it resonated with the audience....
