This show does such a good job to establish so much with a few lines of dialogue. Prior to this episode I always just assumed that if you see an elf then you should think that they are likely more powerful or just superior beings (power wise)than you solely based on the fact that they live long but that’s not necessarily the case.
Frieren pointing out the fact that elves haven’t fully learned to subconsciously defend against Zoltrak because it’s a relatively new spell to them suggests that they learn far slower than humans, it’s essentially time versus adaptability.
The “Human Era” is essentially humans making magic their own and coming up with new ways to utilize it

Another video I wish I coudl remember who said it, described the Frieren weakness thing as kind of like someone who when they shoot a gun after doing all the aiming...they close their eyes shut in anticipation when they pull the trigger. Which can both throw things off and kind of leave you vulnerable.
A bit overly violent an analogy, but the idea of someoen who closes their eyes while fighting or even swimming, kind of helps showcase why it's 1) A problem and 2) Frieren, sseriously you had a millennium to work on this.
