TIP!: One of the best support gems you can put on Bone Storm is Ricochet. A considerable chunk of the 20 projectiles always miss the enemies, because its a fan of projectiles. Ricochet means 40% of those always missed projectiles hit. This turns it into a massive dps increase against anything smaller than a building. Think: When fighting one human size boss, maybe 6-7 of the projectiles actually hit the enemy with every volley. Thats LESS that 40% of the 20 projectiles. Meaning if you have Ricochet and sink the whole volley into the ground, thats 8 hits on the boss. Now if you hit the boss with a volley, 7 hit, 13 miss, ricochet makes 5 of the missed projectiles hit. That straight up an over 70% total damage increase
Poe newbie here, trying to avoid copycating but your guide helped me a lot to improve my dps on the bonestorm build I am developing. I am looking to a more hybrid approach with necromancy included and this helped me get out of a dps deadend I reached through progressing. Very useful, thanks a bunch, the game is already much more fun :)
Great stuff, might I sugest getting the cast speed cluster slightly above the triangle crit node? It gives 9% cast speed AND 16% cast speed when you crit recently, and that adds with the other one so you get 24% cast speed just from critting, making so you dont need to get it anywhere else in the tree
protip for mobbing/leveling/mapping - for waveclear use the corpsewade boots. You can socket them with cormobidity and bursting plague for a non-stop screen wide corpse explosion effect that is passive..basically shoot one bonestorm and everything on the screen dies instantly

The build link in the description is missing stuff. It only shows two skill gems, no equipment, and it looks like there are less than half the passive tree points allocated compared to what's in the video.
For blasphemy I reccomend upgrading it to a 3 slot and socket "magnified effect" for a 40% increse in area + if you want 4 slot it with heightened curse, the increse jn area dosnt add extra cost but the hightebed curse does
So I was having problems with Geonor and was thinking about trying Bonestorm. Used the first two gems you mentioned and my build is not built for this and it went from trouble to beating him first time, and very quickly, his first form was gone in only a few attacks, he was dead inside of a couple of minutes.
Been using this build, and i'm shredding through bosses easily... 2-3 minutes max per boss fight. Its a great leveling build, i'll see how it goes in endgame. I'll probably have to tweak a few things, like adding more survival nodes, depending on the gear i use...
@@russlmao7091 Didn't had much time to play this last few days but i did get my second ascendancy, i'm at level 60 with decent gear, and i'm still shredding bosses in cruel difficulty... One or two are a bit harder but i did most of them at first, second or third try. Good positioning and escape strategy are key to make it work. I still use unearth spell to gain some time for harder groups, so my minions hold them while i do damage. I like this build, i'm having fun with it and its pretty solid.
@bulkathos5207 Spell Cascade provides you with more pinning coverage than Echo (while having no cast speed penalty) and if you run Concentrated Effect and Roil passive you can get such a radius that you can still hit normal-sized enemies with all 3 circles with the AoE still being able to hit most of the pack.
I've been using bonestorm with infernalist demon form for bosses. Cast On Crit triggers each volley of bone storm against bosses if your crit chance is high enough. Because demon form gives +5 to all gems and gains a boat load of spell damage both your bone storm and the spell echo'd comet deal massive damage even when the passive tree is phys spell. Demon Form gets its own weapon set which then grabs the trigger nodes mid/right further boosting the comet. For mapping just using DD to blow everything up but i'll have a look at snakepit to see if that makes bonestorm mapping viable.
HI! A professional Bonestormer here, I can confirm that its blasting maps very, very well. But please continue the bloodmage slander, I would indeed appreciate a buff even If I don't need it.
The build kinda hard caps around level 23 skill gems because afterwards the mana cost scaling starts to outdrain your mana regen (you have about 110-130 at that point + flask) and the life cost scaling starts to become a huge negative EHP source (we're talking 200 life per cast or 500 life per full channel). But the damage is actually very high - DD 1taps rare monsters and the aoe is good while Bonestorm can actually down a boss in 4 full channels if all of them are crits. (opinions after getting through red maps)

if you cast bonestorm let go for 0.5s and cast again you can cast it fully without any movespeed penalty and also run with it

Boneblast is a really good way for a fresh blood mage to not kill themselves to sanguinomancy.

What about Spell Echo gem on Bone storm? I'm not sure how this Echo mechanics works but there is a 30% less Cast speed, wouldn't it be beneficial?
Spell echo doesn't work on channelling spells
i like the echo on bone cage, keeps them pinned for sure

Why some nodes say "Critical hit chance for spells" and others "Critical hit chance"? Are you sure the "Critical hit chance" affects the bone spell?
Because "Critical Hit Chance" is a general increase to both spells and attacks. Critical Hit Chance for spells only applies to spells.

Not quick enough. Ranger melts them in like .4 seconds. Witch takes an eternity.

This build will start to fall off. It's only viable to around mid game
