Great review, I'm a big Giantmouse fan and i was dissapinted i didn't get one when they dropped. But you really put the price tag into perspective when you said you can get a Medford for the same price. I really like the GM8 & GMP8 but really they are very simillar to a Mini Crooked River.
#229 reporting for duty!!! Now, what the knife brings to the line of knives. It may be the best GM model next to the GM5. I feel they are progressing, I wish they would use Reate as an OEM!

Great review. Looks like an awesome knife, stinks they’re not available. I just heard that Microtech is now going to make the Socoms in China. Glad I got mine in XHP made in USA when I did and glad I didn’t sell it. Guess I’ll be keeping it..
Agree you're paying a little extra for exclusivity, but not a whole ton more. Maybe an extra $100-$150 or so. That milling looks time-consuming and expensive to make in contoured scales. I bet they could price them even higher and they'd still all sell out... Also wanted the GMP8, but got the GM8. Like you said, quality of manufacture is on par with other Maniago knives like Viper, MKM, Fox. Not the perfection of their Reate-made knives, but nice. Action on mine wasn't great, so I swapped the steel bearings for the ceramic bearings in a We Practic, which has made it smoother. Shouldn't have needed to do that on such an expensive knife, but otherwise love the design, feel, and usability. Did you see the number on the inner side the backspacer to show which of the 300 you got? Also bladesteel and logo discreetly inside the scale. 😀
I got one. I am disappointed in it. I was expecting more from the $400 price point. Mine came riddled with QC issues: Gritty and tight action that even after 100's of flips and lube hasn't much changed. It's better than at the start but still significantly worse than some of my knives at a third of the price. I had a scratch on the show scale (relatively minor but that shouldn't have passed qc). I also had scalloped finish along my blade edge... Another thing that should never have passed QC. I am very very disappointed with the lack of QC. My brother got one too and his only has the tight and gritty action but not nearly to the same level as my own. I could pay $50 more for a Sebenza and not deal with these issues. My Sebenza was perfect out of the box and this on the other hand is struggling to keep up with my $115 Ferrum Forge Buc. Sure different steel and higher milling work drive the price up as does exclusivity but I have to say that having a knife at that price point literally blow this GM8 out of the water in pretty much every regard is sad. The Buc has literally the best action I have ever felt on a sub $500 knife let alone a sub $150 knife. It has a glassy smooth action and you cannot fail to deploy it unless you literally try and even then you have to just softly push the flipper with no energy for it to fail... I want to love the GM8 but I cannot at this moment which is very unfortunate. I will give the customer service team props for offering to fix my issues but that has yet to actually go through.
Completely understand where you’re coming from, and we’d feel the same way. Definitely some better options out there at that price point, but this one was all about exclusivity unfortunately. I hate that something so sought after has issues.
I was fortunate enough to pick up the GMP8. Also have the Ace Clyde. Love them both. I thought your assessment was fair. To me and for my collection the GMP8 definitely holds grail status. In my mind it’s definitely worth the price 💯
watching repeated failed flips of it during the vid tells me the rumors of a weak detent are well founded. that is unfortunately a common flaw in the gm line and its getting to the point that they dont have much of an excuse anymore.

Nice looking knife. I liked the blade shape, even though I tend to prefer drop point knives .
