Does Apple have such a waterproof patent on their trackpads, so that no other manufacturer dares to put a decent one in their laptops? For anyone who has ever used a MacBook trackpad, going back to a dive board mechanism is like going back from Windows 10 to Windows 98. Was usable back at the time, but feels absolutely ancient today. If the patent on the "force touch" is so strong, why not use an alternative, like the mechanism Rim used for the Blackberry Storm 2? So far, the Macbook was and is the only laptop I don't want to immediately attach a mouse, and that should be the goal for all manufacturers laptops or at least of ultrabooks like the X1 Nano.

I've been waiting for such an ultraportable machine for a long time, but when I saw the price, I got an almost new x250 i7 for a small fraction of the price. We all realize that the time of Intel in high spec laptops is over, this offering at this price doesn't make sense anymore. This is a kodak moment I believe.
The screen looks great - it was about time to change the screen ratio back to more ergonomic levels! Let us hope that Lenovo soon comes with a performant RISC processor - based version of this laptop at a competitive price.

I finally got to watch your review on this laptop after I finish my review and I have the exact same thoughts David wow =). Next time to see your next video how it compares to the M1. Before I watch it, here are my thoughts Nana vs MBA M1. If you ignore the high price of the Nano, I personally like the Nano over the MBA (as I was a Mac user for over 10 years). My reasons for this is first M1 is just painful atm being Gen 1 so many software issues and no support for dual screen thunderbolt docks, those two alone is for me to not recommend it. Keyboard, display and trackpad on Nano is better than the MBA. I know people might think and I usually say mac trackpad are the best, but I'm not a fan of the force touch trackpad on the Macs. What is good about the MBA is the battery life and the heat plus how quiet it is. For me performance wise MBA very very slightly faster if its a working macoxs app but in reality when you use both its the same to me due to the nature of the laptop's task (for on the go stuff and meetings). Now to bring it back to reality is with the high price of the Nano compare to MBA then its MBA unfortuntely.

The keyboard was quite a compromise acturally. Thinkpad's traditional 1.8mm Key travel distance was last seen on X1 carbon 2018, and on X1 carbon 2019 and later models, the key travel distance became 1.5mm. As we've seen on X1 nano, it's 1.3mm...... It is shortened for the sake of thickness.

They don't need an answer to the air.
They compete with other Windows laptops.
They do need more ports though.
Once you charge, that's just one port left😞👎.
A micro SD and one usba would not have added any weight or even 4 tb4s, or 2 tb4s andc2 usbcs would have been impressive with no extra weight.
But like Apple they have a lot of dongles and docs to sell you so add about $ 100 to the cost for that.
They could have included a magnetic charging port and still allowed usbc charging.
That's one port a lot of people miss.

I think 2021 series of thinkpads is the real successors from 2010 and their bad decision to change from 16:10 to 16:9 thanks dell to this (thinkpad satisfied owner). Usb-C connection for me is how can a pro user tranforms the pc from laptop to desktop (not for gaming or video rendering. coding or so) with just one cable. This is the main difference of Intel and AMD. AMD has more power but Intel has the connectivity, I believe this is the reason that expensive laptops choose Intel CPUs (thanks Apple to that)

Haha thanks for the kind words. The best 13” laptops I have used are this nano, xps 9310 and the m1 MacBook Air/pro. They all perform well and have good speakers (mac has the best speakers)
