Same here! Was on Spotify replay during my whole roadtrip. After some time i realised it's been playing for a long time. Kept it going, cause it's awesome! Gettin' the chills. Great job Dylan!!!
For anyone who wants to play this on guitar, here's how :) - Standard Tuning - Capo 4th Fret - - Chords & Strum Pattern - Am, G, F, F For each chord, strum: Down, Down Up, Down, Up Repeat this through the whole song! Hope this helps out! If you get stuck or need a little extra help, I posted a video lesson for this on my channel :)
It’s incredible how when I come back to this live version I have to listen like 5 times in a row. Absolutely legendary rendition of a fire original brother
Country really took a weird pop vibe for a few years so I can’t say enough how much I love love love the raspy, blue grass undertone these newer artists are bringing back.
Well, I remember what you told me Said drinkin' was unholy So Lord, can you point me to the creek And I still keep it with me Tucked under all the memories Your voice echoin' throughout those trees And through unfavored weather And holes in the leather These boots still covered in tar Well, I'm prayin' to the Heavens And hopin' for them sevens But hope only gets a man so far When this game of life plays heavy on my heart And love is tough, but loneliness is twice as hard And I'll carry that 'bout everywhere I go And they say pressure makes diamonds How the hell am I still coal? Now I've seen Heaven without dyin' Met the Devil without tryin' And they both seem to want to talk to me But I'm all out of luck now And my dreams aren't worth a buck How it's tough tryin' to land on my feet When this game of life plays heavy on my heart And love is tough, but loneliness is twice as hard And I'll carry that 'bout everywhere I go They say pressure makes diamonds How the hell am I still coal? And every day is gettin' colder, since that day in October When you told me it was over, so I left 'Cause if you need me, well, I told ya I'm on the better side of sober Tryin' to find a four-leaf clover To get me out of this mess This game of life plays heavy on my heart And love is tough, but loneliness is twice as hard And I'll carry that 'bout everywhere I go And they say pressure makes diamonds How the hell This game of life plays heavy on my heart And love is tough, but loneliness is twice as hard And I'll carry that 'bout everywhere I go And they say pressure makes diamonds How the hell am I still coal?
Use of cursing and bad words have zero correlation or relation to somerhing being considered art or quality of that art . I'm atheist so i could suggest that all the references in the song to "god" and religion brings the quality of the art down but i don't feel that way .
It's strange how perfect this song is... you are much too young to know anything about what is in those words... not even sure it's possible to imagine such things. Well done and thank you, I needed that.
Felt the song. The trouble is opening your heart and when someone leaves that void is there. You open yourself up after healing, fall in love. Troubles that can't be avoided or are too great to arise to. Fall apart. Heal. Start again. All the while holding on the good memories from the past and what could have been for them and you. Baggage that should be thrown out but it stays around. It's nice to have all the warm memories but you can be hallucinating almost like dying to the cold. It's super painful to heat back up, but if you wish to live you gotta heal, mentally cleanse and move on. Anyhow I obviously loved the song. Keep on keeping on brother. Love you for being a heart surgeon. ❤
I first heard of Dylan Gossett trough a small video clip that appeared on my Instagram. It was some guy doing a cover of this song. I immediately liked it and decided to look up Gossett to see if he made other songs that were great like Coal. I was really happy when I heard all of them and realized that I actually loved many of his songs. My favorites so far are "beneath Oak Tree" and "No Better Time". Can't wait to see what he will do in the future! Lot's of potential here!
I jus read the story of this video. I try not to hate unless it comes to wasps😂. I love this song though, ive always come back to it ever since it came out (other songs of Dylan aswell) and it still hits my soul. Reading how it went down jus made it all the better. Crazy how it took, essentially, "15 minutes" to make something that will last for YEARS. Not jus in their life, my life, but in yours aswell. Cheers ol son, thanks for the video!
Great moment of witty rhyme. Is cool . I have these about daily. Strum a tune. Out of the blue corner of my heart, lifting spirit to the sky, fly bluebird All the way to the bitter end. To lay n start again. Soulful shine on
This young man god bless you makes me dont after why I all ready know he was raised with respect his songs come from within your a good kid gust remember you and you alone can do this
stumbled upon this song on my weekly mix on Spotify yesterday and honestly, the line "they say preassure makes diamonds, how the hell am I still coal?" hit me like a train when I first heared it. I failed my final exams for my job training this year and ever since then I got preassured from my parents and teachers alike, making me feel like shit (without wanting to I am certain). The last couple of days I had another streak of days, where I just felt beaten, down... like coal I guess... I actually do feel a bit better today then I did recently though, so there's that ig... and to get back to the music: I love this song a lot!
This song hit me really hard, I listened to it probably 35 times today. Been sober for a year and a few months, stuck at home waiting on a surgery that keeps being delayed, and my anxiety and depression have been out of control... this song perfectly encapsulates how I feel. The lyrics are incredible, and to think it was written in 15 minutes is surprising. The songs out for only a few months, and already it's having a profound effect on people. I only wonder what your first verse was fully about, it sounds as though it's in memory of someone?
@@lmaodevvSurgery went well friend, I even avoided pain medication except for when I was anesthetized. Thanks for checking, I'm still coming up on 1 year 4 months sobriety and fingers crossed the toughest parts behind me for a while. Much love🙏
That and the fact his live singing voice is just naturally very good , sound engineers probably have little work to do . The guitar is stupid simple and requires little skill but his poetry and voice are really good
Dylan!!!! I have been addicted since you came out obsessed my dude!!! so obsessed I almost let some random imposter screw me on fb lol. so on that note will you be doing any interviews soon? is the tour real? do you participate in responding on social?? Also I am proud of you, your music is beautiful all the words my husband shows but can't say ( he is terrible with words and emotion) will you be playing any local shows before the I hope its real tours, as I can see your from here which makes me want to find your dive shows so bad. how do I get an invite to the lake house sessions? I love you man lol love your music so much!
“If pressure makes diamonds then how the hell am I still coal…” shiiiiit, unbelievable lyrics.

Bro Same wtf 😂😂😂
Same. Possibly an unhealthy amount hahaa
I don't normally repeat songs, but this one, just hits different.
"Love is tough but loneliness is twice as hard" cut deep
Need a full album from this kid, gotta be the best country song I’ve heard this year
You think it beats rich Ken north of richmond? It's hard to beat that one but I will say this is in top ten this year.
@bennetttyler6019 much better!

Zero cursing zero bad words 100 percent art
He totally said fuck
He said buck lol "my dreams ain't worth a buck now"
He does say “how the HELL am I still coal” which technically is a curse word.
Too right!! i hate when people say fuck

Legend
Just found this. Its like early Christmas.
Ive Seen heaven without dying
Meet the devil without trying
And they both seem to wanna talk to me WOW THAT HIT THE FEELS
I genuinely prefer this than the studio version. He really lets out a bit more its just got that lil more soul in it. 🔥 song regardless

Why is it recorded via pickup AND mic genuine question
Honestly, my lapel receiver kept failing that day so I ran both as a safety in case they failed... which they did lol
❤❤❤
❤
It hurts
Oliver Anthony is getting a lot of attention ,and rightly so , but there's others out there doing great work.....
Wow
why assosiates so hard with Three Doors Down ...
Me and this guy have the same Guitar
I have given at least 10K of this listens myself.
Go watch Gareth Music's cover of Coal. It is so much better! His voice was meant for this song
Is that an Aggie ring??
ill carry what? I can’t make out that line
I'll carry that bout everywhere I go
The loneliness. He'll carry it where ever he goes because of a lost love.
Lol your dump it’s I’ll carry it bout everywhere I go
