Hello everyone! I hope you enjoy this reading vlog. Link to everything is in the video description - including a link to the surprise book box, if you want to try it out yourself ☺ x
Hey Jen! I watched your video while cooking lunch for myself. These reading vlogs are so enjoyable for me! They are peaceful and interesting to listen and just give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. Thank you so much for the poetry as well, I rarely sit down to read any but I watching you I always get a sprinkling here and there and it warms my soul.
Super lovely vlog as always! The annotating process was thrillingly wonderful to follow, especially because I personally need a lot more reading experience before poetry as a genre can open itself for me to be understood. Your thoughs were really helpful and inspiring, and I’d love to see more of that also in the future. Also the recipe ideas were absolute diamond, I took careful notes of everything you described. A big thank you for all of this!
Thank you, Kaisla. You can find more annotation videos here: th-cam.com/video/gCvu82cdhmk/w-d-xo.html and I also do close readings over on Patreon, too. x
Thank you, Jen, for another wonderful video: books, walks & cooking. In spite of already having bought over my limit of books in August, I immediately paused your video and ordered New World Fairy Tales. I think I will have to have to read The Watch as well. 🙃
Hey, I don't comment that often but I watch your videos and like them a lot. I'd just like to come back on the Line from changing room : could the living room where she holds her son be her womb ? As if she didn't want him to grow up and keep him safe inside of her ? I didn't read the poem or collection so that's just based on this particular line but idk it's just the vibe I got from it ! Also, apologies for my english I'm french so I don't know if I made some mistakes or whatever. But anyway, love your content and your work actually, I have two of your Books and I'm madly in love with them. Especially the short story collection, big thumbs up for this!
I recently picked up a remaindered copy of A Perfect Explanation at a dollar store here in the US, which I thought was nonfiction/memoir. StoryGraph has the US version listed as historical fiction, and the UK version as literary. What genre would you call it? Regardless, I'm glad you liked it and am more motivated to read it now!
Yes, though of course not every meal (baked potato tonight, nom!). We do Gousto meals four nights a week, which Mr M cooks, then I cook the rest of the time. x
Thanks Jen, love your videos and always pick up good recommendations. A semi-silly suggestion: As a scientist I must admit though, every time you mention book maths I get excited and then immediately disappointed as its always 1+1 😄 where are the multiplications, the substractions? Missed opportunity imo 😉
I also don't need to love every poem in a collection. I think this is almost impossible, because like you said, poetry is such a personally connective experience. Having said that, of course I find collections, that I really adore for what they are doing overall and still this doesn't mean, that I love each and every poem. And that's totally fine. Really liked this vlog! I like all your vlogs, but this was something a bit different.
Just pausing to ask if you’ve read or have The Redemption of Galen Pike by Carys Davies or The Many by Wyl Menmuir, my #2 and #1 favorite Salt books, respectively. If not, well, I obviously recommend them. The Many is on my all-time favorites list. Back to the video!
@@jenvcampbell I have loved most Salt books that I’ve read. I’ve got a couple more Alison Moore titles to get to and a few more here as well. I love them as publishers. Have you noticed water level dropping in the canal or on the Heath? The pictures from Europe are scary!
@@jenvcampbell Thanks. The way you use them with your footage is lovely. (I have very fond memories of Hampstead and surrounds) but then Lola AND a tortoise? Sublime! 👍🏼)

We didn't get to see Lola this time, I hope nothing's wrong with her :(. don't get me wrong, the turtle was very cute as well but I thought Lola would be around because isn't she your mother in law's doggie?

Hi Jen,
You should continue your series Dissect a Poem!
I may do more of those in the future but I also do close readings over on Patreon, too, if that’s of interest. xx

Hello Jen, I'm always wondering whether the type of recipes you vlog are typical for you? I'm in awe of your meals.
Yes, though of course not every meal (baked potato tonight, nom!). We do Gousto meals four nights a week, which Mr M cooks, then I cook the rest of the time. x

Big drought here; it looks like autumn already. And as much as I love autumn, it’s really not good to see trees shedding in august ☹️ x

Went on website. Unfortunately the mystery fiction box is sold out. Great idea though.
The mystery poetry box option is still available, if that’s of interest. If not, recommend checking out some of the individual titles ☺️ x
I have been loving your content recently! 🌠
Thank you ☺️
