2024- I’m celebrating you and Mr. M as new parents, thriving (esp work wise!) along side illnesses & challenges, sharing struggle, wisdom, and joy. xo ❤🎉
What a beautiful year-end wrap up, Jen! I had a lovely time watching this. And really...what an extraordinary reading / work year given all the new mommy madness!! Kudos to you!
The observer thing was also my favourite bit of Orbital! Had to look up the painting myself and have a gander, and it’s so interesting to think about. Lovely update Jen, hope all is well ❤
Oh I was fascinated about the Judith Kerr books. Having read the tiger who came to tea to my own three children and also to classes in all my years of primary teaching I never knew that link. May just have paused your video and ordered the books! Thanks Jen what an amazing year of books and reading ❤
A lovely surprise Jen - thank you for your lovely words about Mama Car, and for including it. I can't believe how close Owning It is now - it seemed so very far off for so long. And I'm so glad you're enjoying We've Got This! Another book I wish I'd had myself, earlier in life. Also, James and I reread When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit and the sequels when I was pregnant with Mainie. Agree the others are definitely adult books. I had the same thought - no wonder they perplexed me when I was ten! (Plus, I must find that Maggie O'Farrell post haste!)
Hei Jen! Thanks for the great video and all the lovely work you do!❤ Have a great 2025! I didn't really like Winter in Sokcho either though I did like the setting of the city itself.
Hi Jen, thank you for a marvellous video. I'm definitely going to come back to this and take note of some of the books you mentioned that really appealed to me (I was cooking wile watching/listening so taking notes was not possible haha). My favourite read of 2024 was probably Prophet Song by Paul Lynch. Thanks again!
I gave up on The Echoes halfway through in 2024. I was stuck in one of the Australia flashbacks that seemed never ending and did nothing to advance the story in my mind. I wish I had gotten back to Max’s character because I think that would have made the book more interesting. Having said all that, I do intend to try this book again in 2025. I can’t give up on the author who brought me the absolutely wonderful The Bass Rock. We’ll see how it goes on a second try. I think I’ll keep the book no matter what as it has such a gorgeous cover. And of course I will read whatever she writes next. Delightful video!
Although I have the rule to not buy any books in this year there's always another year. Couldn't miss out on this video you "sell" describe these books so well thise that resonate with me I immediately wish to grab out of my screen and read on the spot 😊
Apologies if you have discussed this in a previous video. Did you enjoy the film Poor Things. I really enjoyed it and read the book afterwards and wondered how you felt about the adaptation. I'd been reluctant to read the book because I bought Lanark by mistake (thinking I was buying your recommended book) and really didn't like it. Fortunately I thoroughly enjoyed the book too. Always look forward to your videos and honest reviews 😊
Look for The Quiet Girl , a film adaptation of Foster by Claire Keegan. It’s a beautiful film. Don’t be put off by the Irish dialogue. There’s English subtitles.
When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit was required reading for me in fifth grade (I'm German). I don't remember much from it, though. Maybe it's time for a reread 😊 P.S. A few years back they made a film adaption of it. I don't know if there's a version English with English subtitles or dubbing, though.
Hi Jen.Good to cu again hope all is going well. 2024 was a bad year for lots of ppl.Now 2025 for California is a Nightmare .. Hopefully it gets better .Take care.

Oh, how lovely for you if you've never read When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit. You're in for a treat! x
So good to see you again. As always your videos are brilliant and I always count on your opinions being spot on--most if the time. Teehee
Loved this recap!
I think out of all the books you recommended in 2024, The Fortnight in September is the one that is the most high up on my list
I hope you love it, too! x

That was my favourite last year ☺️ there’s a link to a list of the books I talked about in the video description if that’s helpful x

3:40 "And then we remembered that we are both authors and that we could do something about that." LOL. ❤❤❤❤❤ So excited for Owning It!
Thank you 😊 x

I haven’t had the chance to watch it yet. Perhaps this year!
I would definitely recommend the Slow Horses books. A combination of Len Deighton and John LeCarre, if that sounds good.
I LOVE JEN
...and thats A FACT!! 💙👍✌️🤗🤗

Father was powerful. Broke me.

♥️
somewhat distressed that the tiger in The Tiger Who Came to Tea is fascism 😭
I never liked The Tiger Who Came to Tea much as a child. It always made me a bit uncomfortable. It was really interesting to hear that context
❤

So enjoy one hour of you talking about the book. Have been watching you since very beginning. 🫶
