      This totally blew me away! It works great for my project that is just too big to turn around easily. I hope you were able to successfully make this work for you.

    Very good tutorial. I use knitting backwards a lot. Useful to know not matter what your knitting style. Edge stitches notoriously slip off the needles and being able to put them back on correctly without turning is a blessing.
    I use knitting backwards also in learning a lace pattern as I can see what I am doing and can knit all my pattern stitches backwards as well as forwards.
    I'm glad you used a bright enough color of yarn to see what you are actually doing. Easy to see and understand.

      On my current project (a dog sweater for a mini dachshund) I‘m currently working the back part of the sweater. Due to the dachshund‘s special proportions, I work the breast part separately & will join it to the back part later.
      Now my question: I purled the selvedge sts (and sl pw the 1st dt of each row). - Do you think, I can use your on-the-go-joining technique though I have purl sts? 🤔 (Sorry, English isn’t my mother tongue 🙈 I hope, you can understand what I mean. 😁)

    So to do your selvedge edge, you just slip the first stitch knit wise? I really need to learn how to knit backwards!

  • @masuganut2082
    @masuganut2082 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The hat is finished by an applied I-cord at the end, so no seaming at all! You can find a picture of it at the link provided in the video description.

    I just found your video and you are knitting backwards? Is it the same as what a left handed person would do? I just taught myself to crochet left handed so I could teach my granddaughter to crochet since she is left handed. I taught myself to knit and I love this video. Do you have a video on how to knit backwards in a much slower version so those of us that don't know how to knit backwards can learn? Thank you!

    I'm thinking of using this technique to join 6 panels of lace knitting. I understand the technique, but I can't think how to do a final join to form a tube... any suggestions???

    • @anjalidatta303
      @anjalidatta303 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know that this is probably way too late for your project, but I think that you could have done the following: for the final panel, at the beginning of each RS row, pick up a stitch from the panel to the right and k2tog it with the first stitch of your new panel. Then, at the end of each RS row, SSK to attach to the panel to the left as shown in this video. I've seen this tutorial on knit-in place patches that is very similar: jackie-es.com/the-designing-day/repairing-a-hand-knit-sock-with-a-knit-in-place-patch.php

    How do you start? I want to join strips. One strip is completed, and I would work and join a second, third and so on. Do you have a tutorial or could you lead me to written instructions?

  • @BeStrixed

    This is really nice, thanks for showing it. Just to clarify: You are also slipping that first stitch before you begin knitting backwards; is that correct?
    How can we learn to get this set up? Is there a pattern available for this hat, for instance?
    Thanks!

    Thank you. I'm knitting with bloom chunky yarn and the color pooling makes it so I have to do 2 panels of 75 to get the rosettes and stripes this helps because I don't want to have to make 2 and sew them together. This way I can knit the second on to the first I just completed
