  • Dr. Becky Fitness - If your goal is to lose weight, your eating schedule matters, and the reason has to do with insulin. In this video, you'll learn how your body reacts when you eat six small meals throughout the day as opposed to three larger meals.
    The number of times you eat throughout the day impacts the sugar and insulin levels in your blood, which makes the difference between fat burning and fat storage.

    I’m struggling with eating fewer meals while getting enough protein because my stomach feels so heavy and uncomfortable after a meal. I’m at the point where I think I’d be more comfortable having a protein snack or two versus distributing all my protein in three meals.

    great advice, but I think if you are college student and need to focus for your studies, then it's a good idea to eat 6+ small meals to not feel sleepy during day

    Mostly wrong because it fails to take many things into account. In short with 3 meals I lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks, I switched to 7 snacks instead {same exercise, low carb/high fat, low calorie diet) and lost 17 lbs in 3 weeks. Please explain that

    THANK YOU finally someone who see's and talks sense about this crap. i can't stand those people who say you NEED 6 small meals a day.. they are just constantly raising their insulin and not only that but not even i get hungry 6 times a day, would of thought that is quite an unhealthy way to be with food. it takes up to 2-4 hours for insulin to be out of your system after consumption.
    I am on a diet of pre-workout for my morning workout when i am still in a fasting mode to burn my stored fat as energy, then after i will have an omelette for protein, for dinner i will have 2 baked potatoes with tuna and home made mayo(without all the added crap and sugars) or baked beans and a snack of 2 home made 3 ingredient oatmeal raisin cookies. lost 5lbs in a week and half

    Dr. Becky with all do respect what your saying makes since however I've been a bodybuilder that at times I had to cut weight and when it comes to loosing weight it's been between 6 to 8 meals and healthy small meals to keep the metabolism moving ultimately... now this is why I believe in small meals consistantly, do to the fact we as humans were not created now a days we were created during Dinosaur Days allegedly and we as Humans did not have 1 or 2 or 3 meals we ate consistantly when we could from my studies and when it comes to weight loss its self we as humans have different body types example Endomorphs, ectomorphs, and Mesomorphs, and each one of these body types have different strategies to loose weight, now I'm not saying I disagree with you I'm just saying from personal experience and training multiple people every ones body reacts differently on insulin levels and every thing so in conclusion what I'm saying is can you make a video on the brake down on different body types as I mentioned before on how to lose weight... thank you for the video 😁👍

    If I'm eating Keto, can I have 6 small meals a day? I usually have a 4oz early morning plant-based protein shake, then 10 almonds as a morning snack, and the 1 cup of yogurt as my afternoon snack in addition to my 3 main Keto meals.

    I am wondering if this applies to a diabetic. I am a diabetic type 2. I control it with a low carb diet and exercise. Because my blood sugar is higher than normal, is my insulin high also, which means I can't get into fat burning? No one talks about a diabetic and fat burning. Thanks, Gina

    • @beckygillaspy
      @beckygillaspy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi queensgirl58, diabetes changes how much insulin your pancreas is able to produce, so you might not have the same insulin response to blood sugar as a person without diabetes. This does not mean that your body in incapable of burning fat.

    Dr Becky,
    Are you also doing the Ketogenic diet with your husband? I have started the 2/3 meals a day, lots of veggies, green shake, good fato and protein. But have Ezekiel bread in the mornings with my latte. I can't eat eggs and bacon everyday for breakfast. Honestly, I am just used to have that crunchy toast and I eat little for breakfast. So, I haven't gone into ketosis. You look even more in shape in your most recent videos, with skin more luminous and shinier hair, and I wonder if that is the results of ketosis. I have 6/7 lbs to lose and have been reading on the benefits of ketosis for a whole lot of things. Thanks!

    • @beckygillaspy
      @beckygillaspy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Solange Renfroe, thanks for your comment. It was so nice to hear! I do not follow a keto diet like my husband (th-cam.com/users/2fitdocs), but I do follow a low-carb diet that is fairly high in healthy fats.

    • @solangesmusic.1877
      @solangesmusic.1877 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Becky Gillaspy Well, I am actually happy to hear that! A low carb diet would be my choice because it would contain the complex carbs I enjoy.
      I am going back to my physical fitness of three years ago, when high stress levels from experience with a younger brother's terminal cancer diagnosis and eventual death, mom passing 11 days before he did, menopause knocking at my door, created a major havoc in my system. I was also diagnosed with anxiety and the anti depressants elevated bad estrogen... I have always been very fit and athletic but it seemed that all of a sudden, my workout program didn't do anything anymore.
      I am beginning to see results with the radical reduction of sugars and most wheat from diet and adding considerable amounts of salads, green juices, and healthy fats and some protein. The thing with Keto I fear won't serve me in the long run, is that I also can't eat and digest the amounts of eggs and bacon I see my friends gobbling up to balance out the lack of carb intake.
      I will continue to watch your videos, which are excellent in the way you explain and make matters easy to grasp in a way that makes sense. Thank you!

  • @rik-keymusic160

    But I question if that for everyone the case? I saw very shredded guy’s who did eat multiple times a day although very healthy foods. Some say that you burn more fat eating more pieces often. And not everyone is the same. Perhaps for some people there insulin levels never raise the extreme at all …
