      It has the reputation as being the best sports car you can buy in it’s class it beat older r35 gtrs on a track. With that rep people are going to drive it hard. It’s like an sti which are also typically beat on. You don’t want a used one if you can avoid it.

    • @davemorris6747

      Totally agree. I got 9500 out of mine with normal driving as the stock conti’s are really soft. Had an alignment check done as a matter of course when new tyres were fitted. I’m now at 11800 and discs are mint and pads are half worn. Sounds like the car you tested was tracked.

  • @raulvasquez807

    Tires brakes and rotors go quick on this car. The maintenance you mentioned is normal. High performance = high maintenance. The rear brakes go quick because the ecu uses the vsa to brake individual rear tires to rotate the car while turning. Good luck

    When you do go to buy one, go at the end of the month. Car dealerships are so much more likely to work on a deal at the end of the month than any other time (unless there's some sales promotion going)

    When it comes to buying sports cars like Type R’s, it may be better to get it brand new. This way, you won’t have to worry about it being abused or having mods you don’t like. These are the types of cars that people abuse like a red headed stepchild.

    All that is normal for the type r it has summer tires that last about 12,000 miles says on the window sticker. Also performance brakes that create a lot of dust and wear quick.
    I also resurface rotors when replacing any brake pads all normal maintenance..17 year Honda technician. I would be more worried about the transmission than anything else, make sure their is no gear lockouts. By the way i put a 2019 radio in my 2017 swapped right in.

    Normally for a type r the rear brakes go first, and the factory 20inch tires don’t last long at all. If they put new tires on it why not get an alignment. As a type R owner this is all normal. Comparing an Si to a TypeR isn’t fair.

  • @EvilStreetShark
    @EvilStreetShark 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Yup! Good Job walking out. I highly recommend if you can get a 2019 Type R the head unit is faster and you have a volume knob instead of a touch screen.. Idk if you like the 2020's with all the extra accessories and safety features I would consider those as well.. The Type R wheels are 20" wheels btw! I know crazy on a civic. That is weird that the rotors were resurfaced but.. It makes sense that the tires were replaced because the stock tires only last 10k miles depending on how you drive. It says that on the window sticker. Yes, for the Type R with the rear pads it's common to change around close to 20k miles.. Its the way abs works for the car.. It uses the rear pads in cornering by itself.. its weird.. It works amazing..
    The different mods does effect the suspension dampening but it also affects the throttle and the boost!
    I would say this... The Type R Stock has no characteristics.. What I mean.. Its hard to hear you running through the gears and hearing the pssh sound letting off the gas.. Every time you mod the car you unlock a characteristic of the car and the car gets better and you start to see why the car is so special and the potential it has..
    When you mod the car with an K&n filter or aftermarket intake You will notice..
    Comfort - There is barely any spool sound and the psi is turn down/hp cut and you only hear the engine noise and its better for gas mileage..
    Sport - default mode every time you start the car.. You can hear the spool sound and its like a middle range power band... suspension a little tighter
    R+ mode - The suspension gets tight and the steering is very direct.. The engine and the boost sound gets louder and your in the full potential of all the power the Type R produce and this unlock the trq that the car has.. When you drive the car do this.. start at 3k rpms roll into the gas slowly to like 3,400 rpms and floor it.. You will fly back into your chair.. It's a little bit different on how you drive the type r but you get use to it..
    When you mod the car it builds characteristics and has drama that you wont get when the car is stock.. That's why so many people mod the type r..
    One of my Subscribers let me drive his type r with a tune and exhaust and intake and I fell in love... Bought a Type R... When I got the car stock... I was disappointed.. It was very restrictive with no drama and characteristics.. Now I love it with all the mods I've done to the car so far.
    *Heads up* The Type R gas tank is not big.. its only a 12.5 gallon tank.. You will be at the gas station more but its cheaper fill ups.. Remember don't always drive in R+ mode if you want to save gas because it turns up the boost and unlock the potential etc..
    I hope all this info helps! I love to support our Honda/Acura creators on TH-cam as I am myself. I can't wait to see when you get a Type R and what vision you have for it. Keep up the videos! 🔥*My bad for the long paragraph I hope this helps*

    100% you did the right thing. It’s exciting buying a “new car” and you can justify it up and down all day if you really want too. Walking away is always the best strategy. Worst case the car sells the next day. Who cares. There will be other Type R’s.
    What it does do is give you time to think. Chances are when you get home you’ll be thinking a little more clear about everything. Also, in my experience they will usually call you back. The price may not come down a ton but you’d be surprised what they will give you at times to move the car. And if they don’t then keep looking for someone else that will.
    It took me years learning the hard way. It’s always disappointing not getting it especially driving all that way, but I promise you you’d be way more disappointed if the car had issues and you’re stuck with a 600 dollar a month pmt! You’ll find the right car. Great insight with the process though!

Thirty minutes to black out the red stripe on the ground effects. 19" forged light weight NSX wheels. Sticky factory tires can wear out in 10,000 miles (who would have guessed?). Plus, you already have multiple backup plans to get a Type R and that's awesome! Can't wait for you to get one and see what you do with the car! Also, there are a few things that I think would annoy you about the car and just wanted to let you know beforehand. The breaks get very squeaky because I believe they are track brakes, a lot of people switched the brakes to street brakes and it doesn't squeak anymore. There will be a ton of brake dust too, also, if the wheels you want to get are backordered and you still have the stock wheels on, putting on 255/35/20 tires helped a lot because the ride quality does get better, the titan 7s I want is out of stock so I decided to get bigger tires and they don't rub or anything

  • @ebatr8
    @ebatr8 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is normal on the tires and brakes btw. Don't expect the stock contis to last very long, for some reason this car will go through rear pads sooner than the fronts and if people sit on the hot brakes at a light or use the brake hold feature a lot it can warp the fronts a bit. I bought a used blue CTR coincidentally with similar miles and the dealership threw new tires, and brakes on it. Car has been good to me

    Type R also eats through tires, I destroyed my front tires within 7000 miles of street driving before I even did any track days. That was just from hard driving on backroads. I did 3 track days on existing rear tires (rotated to front) and those are nearly trashed as well. Be ready to replace at least front tires at 10000 miles if you drive the car hard. I recommend replacing the front 2 tires (which will be the first to go) and rotate those to the rear....and repeat the process when the front tires go bad again... this way you only have to replace 2 tires at a time. Anyway, good luck with getting a Type R, I recommend you go for the 2019 Type R instead of 2018, 2019 you get climate control buttons.... not a huge deal but improve things.
