Damn the trials and tribulations you've gone through with the s/c door handles and your VW diesel would put me over the edge! On a more positive note it was kinda' humorous when you were installing the treasure chest door by balancing it on your head combined with the music! lol 😁👍😎

It amazes me how far you've come on this project in just a year, Mike. Wish I still lived in the area so I could see it at Pamona sometime haha.

Someone needs to call Volksworld Magazine and get a feature done on this thing. Easily the most significant Vw restoration I’ve ever seen in the 20+ years I’ve been into this rusty German junk!

You are like me. I don't like getting beat by an inanimate object. Spent 3 months sorting out an electrical issue with a '97 Astro van of mine 5 years ago. I think the van is worth all of $1500 bucks with $600 worth of new rubber on it. I would not let it beat me when I should have just scrapped it. In the end, I won and I still have it. I'm way underwater man hour-wise on it though. Still, it's one of my greatest mechanical diagnostic feats of all time and was exstatic when I fixed it. lol. You'll beat that thing eventually I'm sure. On-line forum help is critical on some of these esoteric problems. Oh, and it's the Humble Mechanic.

doors and latches are a pain the rubbers will start to form to the vehicle new parts and old parts make things harder tons of work but in the end its going to be nice good work
    i enjoy the videos thanks

  • @dubworldvwadventures

That has to be so frustrating to do all that work and then need to modify it again. I’ve found a lot of the door seals are not made to the correct dimensions.

      Hey Mike,
      Kevin here from Australia.
Don't these dam doors drive you nuts and they take so long to break in because of limited use.
      Q. With the door opening seemingly tight couldn't you put a portapower thing into the opening to give you that millimetre you need.
Anyhoo this collaboration sounds cool can't wait.
Stay safe and healthy man ✌ Peace.

my bet, CT. But I'm not sure he is a water cooled, diesel guy. Those doors and door handles, ok, I am hoping my doors are in better shape than the ones you took off. Do you have to paint, replace seals, flush hydraulics, etc on the bucket part ?? Sounds like one of my projects, this, this, this, that, then that, then this....it just seems endless...
