- Surfer tacos, a mezcal tasting, and shots of mushroom gravy are all on the menu in this episode of Chef’s Night Out when Chefs Daniel Snukal and Josh Gil of Tacos Punta Cabras take their friends Brad Miller (Ox & Son) and Zach Parks (Bosscal Mezcal Joven) on a tipsy tour of their favorite spots in the laid-back neighborhoods of Santa Monica and Venice, California.
Our first stop on the beachy booze cruise is Leona, a new restaurant by Chef Nyesha Arrington, where the crew stuffs themselves on lemongrass shrimp skewers, potato-encrusted duck eggs, and bull heart meatballs. Next we head to LA’s favorite British pub, Ye Olde King’s Head, for fish and chips, sausage rolls, and plenty of cold beers. Last up is The Chestnut Club where Zach leads the guys through a premium mezcal tasting - salúd! Full of liquor, we head back to Tacos Punta Cabras where Josh and Daniel whip up a make-your-own-taco spread, complete with scrambled eggs and sea urchin, spicy Chinese eggplant, and sweet and sour shrimp for a locals only crowd!

It's not an uncommon practice in the first place in alot of food scenes. I'm french idk how to explain it other than that lol but if you'Re an established restaurant, the food scene is usually pretty tight whithin itself and as most people say on the show it's hard to get a good night out when working in the buisness.
They would have sent that out with or without cameras. Just they way the industry is. One of the few perks of being BOH or just industry in general.
The chef girl was on a cooking competition show, I think in chef. Glad to see she's winning right now.

Mezcal is to be kissed not swallowed whole
Um, I think that all tequila is mezcal but not all mezcal is tequila. Tequila is from the agave that comes specifically from that region of Jalisco. Mezcal can be found in Guerrero, Oaxaca, Mexico State...pretty much wherever agave grows, and not even that since they want to change that denomination to Comil in certain regions.
Tequila will never be mezcal, the process aint the same anymore. Mezcal goes through a traditional process, slow cooked, on the ground, natural fermentation etc... it takes time. Tequila on the other hand, its been so popular that the factorys had to make up for the demand, so everything is done faster, more quantity less quality, they add color to the reposados, they compensate with sugar cane alochol, its just industrialized tequila now. Its just a matter of time i guess for mezcal to go through that. Mezcal used to be drank by the poor people, the low life, drunk hobos, now is the spirit of choice of many hipsters.
